I'd go with Train simulator, because there's steam trains, there's more routes and trains and in some ways it's more realistic. I do have both games, but I might switch back to TSW2 When they've added more rail vehicles and routes.
It's frustrating. TS has better gameplay despite its age and has DLC routes I've actually commuted to work on, which are great fun to drive. A friend of mine hasd actually driven trains on one of them. TSW is limited in terms of DLC and the gameplay is not so great - when the Raildriver peripheral is properly supported, that will help, but it is so much nicer to look at. I agree with you, they should phase out TS and get the third parties working with TSW. I don't see why TSW couldn't offer a better balance between easy and harcdcore sim options like many driving games and flight simulators do.

Fascinating stuff, I was always interested in doing passenger trains but sadly there are none in Wisconsin, just normal trains. There are passenger trains in Chicago, but who wants to live there lol
In TS20XX you can also switch manually, the manual switches (of course you can't switch the remote controlled main switches), just you can't walk there, but click on it by mouse, or click on it on map.
Very helpful, short and precise. Other you tubers would go on for ages about stuff no one cares about and beg every second for likes and subs. This is the kind of content youtube needs more of.
Tbh he could have shortened it a lot too, or include a much shorter explanation in the beginning before going into detail. And yes it's already shortened but still

5:04 my direct message to Dovetail games would be STOP TRICKING PEOPLE. The new "name" makes people think it's brand new and they should buy it! Instead there's barely any change. On the other hand, TSW is the "real new" one and is constantly being updated.
That's kind of true people could be tricked if you never bought the yearly released train simulator before you might expect it to be brand new and top of the line with features that surpass tsw. However if you bought train simulator before or even after the release of tsw with each yearly update you get that update free every year as well so each game does get updated. For example a few years ago train simulator updated from 32 bit version to 64 for the better directx lighting while still giving you the option of which you would rather play at start up.
The only negative side about the classic train simulator is, there's just too few things you can do in the cockpit, besides accelerate and brake and some basic security system, where tsw is fairly more complete. Audio isn't too good either, but they did it better on TSW2
The amount you can do in the “cockpit” (in trains, it’s normally called the cab) depends on who makes the train. While most of Dovetail’s trains don’t have much other than the accelerator and the brake, third party developers such as Armstrong Powerhouse include much more detail and realistic sounds.
Yea but it makes up for what you can do in the sim I run 10hr sessions on Bergen line hint save and continue later tsw is to limited after I drove everything I uninstalled because it got boring and 40 fps is great all my routes are free roam ready tons of rolling stock no stutter no no lag all I did was get it to perform on my gpu instead of cpu it fixed all performance problems and I feel I got my money worth
@@Lucrativecris lol tell me about it bro no custom Paths either no sig permission to leave yard or anything like that hope that there is some hope for that sim
The one problem Dovetail have with TS classic is that players have poured so much money and time into the game that they literally will not accept the fact it’s an ancient game that needs to be moved on from. I don’t think it should be completely abandoned though, there are so many 3rd party devs that will definitely keep the game alive. TSW2 could really become something if Dovetail focused their entire team on it. I’m excited to see what the future has in store for both these games.
No? TSC should not be left like this. They need to optimise the game atleast, because what let's just say K-Trains here in Czechia does is amazing. The models are super realistic even though the simulator limits it, but they are managing to still make it really realistic. It is pissing me off to see people say this..
I prefer tsw because I love to walk around and spawn walking pretend to be a driver open the door to the train. I hope flight simulator can do that too.
I'm a original Railworks owner and have owned every years version since. I also own TSW2. (yes, I'm ancient. I've owned even older trainsim games) Personally I like TSW2 better simply because it runs so much smoother and the freedom of walking around does add some nice flavor. The old engine needs an extreme update and fixing but all the old DLC is holding it back. Also after many many years of TS it's like a breath of fresh air for me. TL;DR: TSW2 my current fav.
This was a great video I finally understand the real difference. Thank you so much. I like steam locomotives in historical American roots so I’m stuck with classic for now but would switch to tween Sim world when they get more routes and steam Locos.
The problem is that TS classic is a far better sim than TSW. Abandoning a game like that is a dumb move. If they would update the game it would be just as good as tsw graphically and better in every way.
I kind of do and don’t. I can only speak for the American railroad side of things, but it still doesn’t get physics exactly right especially compared to Run 8. In reality, it’s just a better-looking version of TS20xx except with less content. Plus, it still has a ton of bugs and quirks. However, it’s pretty awesome to have on PS4.
As someone who's only just recently really gotten into TSW, I've never felt like this game wasn't as much of a simulator as others. I think it does a good job at what it does. I'm really enjoying it a lot. The DLC prices are pretty crazy imo, but I'm beginning to understand why, as they're full on replicas of routes/trains. The main thing I wanna see come to the game is livery creation sharing. Some people are wizards with the livery editor. I'd like to download some other player's liveries.
I have both but prefer train simulator. Yes the graphics arnt as good but its 11 years old. TSW is far more advanced but doesn't have good routes or enough content
Im on the same boat with owning both games but I'm liking TSW 2 on my Xbone X a little more sicne the scenarios aren't as buggy and the framerate doesn't stutter as much. On the other hand, I dont mind occasionally going back to TS 20XX since they have wayyy more routes and scenarios, steam trains and more advanced gameplay
Agreed, either of these titles having VR support would be incredible, seems Dovetail games has no interest in VR, that would require a LOT of work to make these VR compatible, Dovetail seems to hate putting too much work into their titles, they pump them out and collect the cash, it's all they seem to care about. Great video, love the the info in a short amount of time! :)
Well I want disagree about them collecting cash. But a your already see how complex the train sim is on pc and console putting all of that into a vr game would take extraordinary amounts of storage and time it would take years to develop. There's a reason why we don't see many if at all any vr sim games especially when it come to ones like trains, semis, cars, bus driving etc. The games are just that big.
Dovetail needs to add everything from train sim classic to train sim world because I want to be able to choose my route with different locomotives. Train sim world provides that but I want to be able to customize my own world and train sim world needs steam locomotives American steam locomotives and they need to focus on train sim world more than the classic but the classic gives you more of the basics and then play train sim world because it’s more complex and difficult than the classic
I think the main differences between the 2 is that railworks(ts), you can make your own routes and make custom content but the graphics are nothing compared to tsw and tsw2, Railworks is simple, and so is tsw.
The only thing that's a bit hard is route building; it can take ages to do and takes lots of practice. You're sadly not able to change the livery of trains in TS, but I hope they add an easy way to do so in a future update without game files blah blah blah. In my opinion Train Simulator is better. All they need is a route by Lake Okeechobee, FL
Man, I've been looking for something like your video for a whole week. Thank you very much! :D Personally I will go for TWS2 since I'm not in to simulator that much and the graphics looks brilliant. I already have TS and it is to harsh for me. Always, in my opinion.
Didn't know you were a railfan too! Quite enjoy your videos Blu! I'm more a a TS Classic guy, TSW disappointed me greatly by delaying the 3rd party dev tools and taking back their promise on multiplayer. I'm considering getting TSW 2 but I am in no big rush.
One of the best videos of the type I've seen. Thanks a lot. I was looking for the difference between TSW2 and TSW2020 which is really like wtf? haha.. Anyway thanks for this great comparison!
based on their business strategy, i'm pretty sure TSW will end up just like its predecessor. we all know that dovetail does that to keep the game alive for years, but if dovetail keeps up with that kind of business model. one day microsoft or another game studio will make similar simulation games that are much better, and trust me! dovetail will regret it
The actual difference is that TSW is a version for more graphical realistic route at a smaller scale the dev team also goes out to survey each route they decide to put in the game to make it as realistic as possible.
I have trains sim world, and train sim world 2 for PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X.. I have to say I love the amount you can do on this game and the amount of DLCs that comes with it. That being said and surprising to myself the game runs the most smooth on PS4 over the rest. I just wish dovetail would add the train simulator DLCs to console or even added to TSW2 like the Rockies Route and the Steam. Apparently a release is coming soon to bring steam and the horseshoe curve to TSW2 but I can't find if this will be strictly PC or applicable to all platforms. You definitely get more with the PC versions.
wow! I saw you on DTG stream, you were operating a train (Amtrak?) in the US! Cool! I am subscribed now .. funny how I accidently got your channel recommended by Utube algorithms:)
I absolutely love train simulator 😁 I had purchased a steam key for train sim 2013 since i couldn't find it in store... And automatically got updated to the 2021 version I remember when Microsoft train simulator came out in 2001 I had got it at Walmart it was so addicting I'd stay on till like 4 am driving trains 😄 but so far think I've spent about $92 on DLC from the new version 😅
I disagree it think TS is way better they have longer routes more trains and routes and better content for the price TSW got very boring because there are annoying and repetitive scenarios but with TS u can get senario packs and trains for cheap and routes for cheap as well
The issue with letting Train Simulator classic go is that Train Sim World is not currently in a position to replace it. There are so many features and add ons built for the older train simulator (not to mention community scenarios and routes in the steam workshop) that letting it go at this point would almost certainly be too large a hit to Dovetail Games. Maybe in the future once Train Sim World is on the same level that Train Simulator Classic is but definitely not right now (recognizing that this comment comes a year and a bit after the videos positing)
You didn't mention the biggest advantage of the traditional TANE is the creator interface, where a complete environment can be made from scratch, terrain, buildings, and track layouts.
I got train sim world 2020 and train sim world 2 and train simulator. I feel like they are all exactly the same really, just train simulator has more routes and trains. If your looking for a good train simulator with quick and easy routes then get train simulator world but if you want more realistic routes and more trains just get train simulator. Its all about preference get whatever looks best to you
I prefer TS "Classic". And no those Dev's better not let this game go, I don't care what your opinion is. TO let this game go would be like telling the thousands of people who pay it: your time & money invested is worthless to us". Cant imagine why TSW has 30 DLC, and 15 3rd party mods, while TS22 has thousands of both. I personally have 60 paid DLC, & hundreds more 3rd party, I'm not gonna take kindly to those hundreds of dollars go wayside because of you new-age kids wanting the next best thing.
Classic "Train Simulator" has one big and sad problem - The game engine only supports 1 core in the CPU. Even on the producer's trailers you can see that this game has big lags... :/
Don't hold you breath for TSW steam and routes. I have TSW2020/TSW 2 and Train simulator 2021 I disagree with the comment to let TS2021 go in a lot of ways it is better not so pretty but often more realistic Vastly longer routes and better rolling stock I think TSW is aimed more at train spotters and TS2021 at train drivers.
I played tsc for about some years, even tho its quality is not the best, its always very laggy, even at one point. It deleted all my tsc files like nothing, twice.
no no no no train sim class as millions of followers and with the money we hav spent on dlc we would riot if they just stopped it, train sim classic is a sim, train sim world 2 what is very buggy is a game, just coz something looks better graphically don't mean its a better game and train sim classic has much better controls, longer routes more 3rd party stuff ( some freeware some payware) and more realistic. train sim world 2 is limited coz it as to take consoles into consideration train sim classic does not. i would not play train sim world 2 if you payed me.
Thank you for this, I just started with TSW4 and a complete newbie, I have seen lots of websites offering downloads and to be honest I got confused which sim they were for, so many similar names. I did see these 2 and I was wondering if they were compatible but you put me straight on that. As for the sim holding your hand I liked TSW for that coz not everyone is familiar with the controls, with TSW you can go over the training as many times as you like to get used to the basics.
Very nice video! Good content, nice editing, great stuff. I'm surprised TS gets even worse performance. TSW2 has awful performance on my PC. But what gets me is that TSW2 is 100% a console game very poorly ported over. Controls are bad and cannot be remapped. I have an international layout keyboard and quite a few keys don't even make sense, or conflict with other applications - and I can't change them. Then the mouse sensitivity is not even configurable... what? It *sucks*. The icing on the cake is that there seems to be no time compression or acceleration. Here I am, sitting on a red signal... for minutes on end. Nothing going on, just chilling. You gotta find something else to do I guess (like watching and commenting youtube videos) instead of, you know, actually playing the game. TSW2 could be so great... but it just isn't.
My #1 problem with the new games is you cant explore the full route and the #2 is the major lack of steam locomotives american/european/Asiatic. Heck the AC on the CSX is like trying to start the space shuttle and I stuck with the sd-40 and the GP they were much simpler to figure out.
Honestly I wish Dovetail would just make Train Simulator (Classic) open-source. The game itself is pretty ancient anyways, and what you're really paying for when buying it on Steam are the 3 included routes.
I enjoyed the analysis and the video very much, right up to the very end. Then you had to stick that god bless you bullshit in. Here's a clue: not everyone believes in your imaginary friend in the sky and those who don't get tired of having it flashed in our faces constantly. Think about how arrogant that seems to a non-believer, or straight-thinker as we tend to see ourselves. But hey, may the Flying Spaghetti Monster bless you with extra cheese! Ramen!
Honestly, I’d say Train Simulator is superior to TSW... here’s why 1. TSW has a frustrating lack of content. 2. TSW absolutely BLOWS TS out of the water with the graphical quality, and is USUALLY more realistic... the reason I still chose TS over TSW in realism is because of audio. Stock, both games have pretty trash audio. But there are endless mods for TS, considering it’s been out much longer. This is probably the biggest selling point for me. 3. Customization, you can make your own trains and routes. 4. Going back to audio, TSW REUSES a lot of its audio, which is quite disappointing. I’ve been playing TS/Railworks ever since it came out, and it uses a lot of the same sounds as well, expect it has a lot more to offer and the sounds do vary, for example the CSX GP40-2 has a different sounds than the CSX AC6000CW or CSX Dash-8, which is something TSW doesn’t do. Summary: TSW is pretty mediocre in general, which lets TS rise to the top with its numerous amounts of content, better audio (with mods), customization, and more diversity in audio stock... thanks for reading! (This is also my opinion, and in no way, shape, or form is this meant to discourage readers or offend anyone)
How is tane in comparison isn't that basically the same has the train sim 20xx I have trainz 2006 (and 2012 I don't play) The biggest surprise with those games is no mater how good the computer is it runs equally bad So my old i5 3210m with 4gb shared ram performed the same has my new one ryzen 1600, gtx1060 6gb, 16gb ram Even the texture overload bug (textures change to ultra low quality wen to many trains are to close together ) carried over Pretty sure its because they locked the texture memory and other hardware to a specific amount
I just want a train simulator with true, realistic accurate physics and long, heavy trains. Physics where the train doesn't immediately start moving when you increase engine power. I want a sim where I can have 200 rail cars and engine cars in the middle of the train if I want on long tracks.
I think why ts classic is still running because it's the place for dtg to test dlc's that would eventually come to tsw. Just look at all of tsw dlc which already available in ts classic way beyond.
Train simulator id still running due to the amount of creators for third part content and more and more people coming to the simulator because tsw 2 is not a simulator
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on telling Dovetail to let train simulator classic go. There is huge third party support off of steam, with a payware and freeware add-ons, which is currently not possible in tsw, as there is no way to get a third party train or route into the game, the best people can do at the moment is liveries. And, even if they do add a way to share trains and routes, they can never replace the huge catalogue that train sim classic has, both on and off steam.
Here's a simplified explanation for the traim Sims... TSW is more in-depth for realism. TSx is more freight and train control. Trainz is more focused on creation.
Train Sim World is a better hands on. You also have the ability to move around the station and track are or even walk along the entire railroad. The trains are on a schedule and will approach on a 24hr. schedule daily.
No. Both simulators have their pros and cons. TSW is more for beginners so it can "hold your hand" and high graphic detail aficionados. TS classic is more for those who know what they're doing and like to change some of the programming code for aspects, switches, locos, etc. They both have their appropriate audiences. BTW... I don't know if TSW is programmable like TS classic.
A couple things you didn't mention about the 2 games; Train sim classic: You can make custom trains and routes. I get that the game doesn't have perfect graphics and it can be choppy at times, but the game has a lot more routes and trains than train sim world 2. Train sim world 2: Not a lot of routes, has a TON of bugs that mess up scenarios, doesn't tell you exactly everything about the trains that you need to know, and the horn and bells need to be updated. Honestly, I think I'd go with train sim classic because of the routes and trains, I don't care about the graphics too much. Edit: I don't mean to spread hate but this is my own opinion.
@@BluGames I’ve been updating old routes. So new grass, trees, buildings, embankments. If you got the Armstrong powerhouse sky/weather pack and RW enhancer for shade. It makes a big difference.
Thanks so much, man. As someone who is just getting back into trains (you should've seen my model train setup when I was a kid back in the '80s), it's really hard to figure out what is the best option out there. Love your content. Keep it coming!
I like Train sim a lot more as like the routes has insane details, graphics might not be the best, but overall it has a better gameplay. Also if you interested in just one company like for Amtrak as an example you have like 20 dlc's, now TSW only has 1 Amtrak dlc with a bad small and short route with a 20 dollar add-on to that route. TSW2 just does not even have Amtrak yet! I know they planned it but again another small route. Also another point is that TSW/TSW2 is too pricy, there are no discounts/sales. Trains sim 2021 has a lot more sales and deals, like summer sale were pretty much all dlc's were almost 85% OFF! This is just my eye sight so plz no hate lol.
Physics and sound are a big part in my experience and TSW is trash at it! When I play TSW I get bored and at the end I still go to TSXX I know people have strong opinions but these games are for two different type of gamers! Some Will forever love TSXX and some will forever love TSW. Tbh I love RUN8 But not a lot of people know about it:)
I would agree bringing train sim classic to and end and or start focusing on tsw 2 and give us things like steam trains and stuff. With that said all the trains brought to tsw will be able to take on a much more realistic feel
Update - Started with TSW2 but it's so LIMITED in spite of being flashy. I now have Train Simulator Classic and love the FREEDOM to CREATE. Dovetail Games is under a rock. If they drop TS Classic without bringing creativity to TSW3 it will FLOP!
Thank you for this video dude ! I have been playing a ton of Euro Truck Sim 2 recently and fallen deep in love with it and since then i have wanted to play a Train sim so much but have no idea where to start, will be picking up Tran Sim World 2 now :) great vid.
I love TSW 2, but honestly, I can't feel that DTG is doing the same with TSW as they did with TSC. 3 and 4 feel like expensive updates, and honestly the DLC really is lacking in a lot of areas of TSW.
Thanks, i understand better now, but on xbox gamepass, and listed on microsoft store their is Train sim world 2020 and also train sim world 2, i dont understand that
The big disadvantage is that you can't transfer routes and DLC from Train Simulator Classic to TSW, meaning that while TSW doesn't have a route builder like TS Classic, you still would have to start all over again in TSW in building sets.
Thanks for letting us know. Thinking on bying one of them and after this I´ll have to buy both... Seems a little like I didn´t like your review but I did ; - )
Each sim has it’s own pluses and minuses. I enjoy playing both but I’ve recently been playing TSW “Train Sim World” more as it has a smoother frame rate on my PC and offers just about all the realism that I require and then some. There’s no argument that Train Simulator has more DLC and I appreciate this especially as it models the New Jersey Transit North Jersey Coastline that I use to travel from my home in New Jersey to Manhattan. A major requirement for me though, is that both operate well with “RailDriver” which is a throttle controller that adds realism to controlling trains vs using just a computer keyboard. Either sim or if you can swing it, “both” don’t disappoint. Enjoy!
Ive had train simulator classic for 5 years now, and it's so costly and runs bad on my PC. just got gamepass and TSW2 and i fell in love with it, being able to walk around and the better graphics yet higher frames is so cool. I would play TS classic but the dlc's are just too expensive
What if I don't really care about all the nitty gritty details of how to run a train, and I just want to make it go easily, and then enjoy the ride? and look at the scenery and the pretty train from the outside. Do any of these games do that?
I am big fan of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator games and I have been thinking on trying Train Simulator games and thinking on getting one for some time.... what scares me most is actually number of DLCs for games and how much of them are needed for nice enjoyment and complexity of games itself..... but thanks on short explanation.
You are very welcome unlike ETS you dont need ALL the dlc to really enjoy it. From train sim u just pick the few routes that interests you. And when u get bored with that then branch out and find more
I really wouldn’t worry about that mate the DLC’s are bigger than you would think doing all the routes and scenarios collecting all the medals 🥇 etc will keep you busy a while on each
I will truly be happy if DOVETAIL would allow TRAIN SIM WORLD to use its RailDriver USB Desktop Cab Controller making it compatible with TRAIN SIM WORLD. Sim world gets boring when using the remote. But the desktop controller would makes Sim World more authentic to play. Dovetail would gain a bigger bang for their buck if they would allow the desktop controller to be compatible with Train Sim world. As you mention they are both the same company but different departments. HERE IS A THOUGHT, ( TEAM ) MEANING Together everyone achieves more.
A beginner question, is Train Sim World 2022 without any addon enjoyable to play or I will get bored rapidly ? I don't know how many trains and path we have on the game without any addon. It's can be so expensive with addon I'm speechless ...
Depends how much you like trains.. there are only 3 routes in the base game. With lots of scenerios, that have you driving back and forth on those routes.
So which do you prefer? Train Simulator Classic or Train Sim World?
Well, TSW has no steam engines yet, so I'd have to go with... Trainz!
Lol

That's kind of true people could be tricked if you never bought the yearly released train simulator before you might expect it to be brand new and top of the line with features that surpass tsw. However if you bought train simulator before or even after the release of tsw with each yearly update you get that update free every year as well so each game does get updated. For example a few years ago train simulator updated from 32 bit version to 64 for the better directx lighting while still giving you the option of which you would rather play at start up.
Graphics wise, very minor changers. Routes and locomotives wise, there is a big difference.
Bro what irritates me in tsw you can't make your own fucken consists or having the custom pain scheme in already made scenarios
best models for TS (ex. Searchlight AC4400CW and SD40-2) are as good as TSW models, with many switches functional, and realistic start procedure
I’m excited to see what the future has in store for both these games.
yes exactly! thats what i am saying
Same
I personally prefer TS classic cuz it runs smoother on my pc (which isn’t the best) but if it weren’t for that then I think I’d prefer TSW
Like GTA 5
No? TSC should not be left like this. They need to optimise the game atleast, because what let's just say K-Trains here in Czechia does is amazing. The models are super realistic even though the simulator limits it, but they are managing to still make it really realistic. It is pissing me off to see people say this..
TS2021 is a hobby with editors. TSW2 is just a dead end game.
I prefer tsw because I love to walk around and spawn walking pretend to be a driver open the door to the train. I hope flight simulator can do that too.
Yea would love the “on foot” concept with flightsims
We all know that everyone is going to try to jump of the plane
I'm a original Railworks owner and have owned every years version since. I also own TSW2.
(yes, I'm ancient. I've owned even older trainsim games)
Personally I like TSW2 better simply because it runs so much smoother and the freedom of walking around does add some nice flavor.
Thanks for watching . I was extremely confused at first
I like train sim world 2 as its more open world and its free on epic games right now so Its highly recommended to give this game a try!
The problem is that TS classic is a far better sim than TSW. Abandoning a game like that is a dumb move. If they would update the game it would be just as good as tsw graphically and better in every way.
If they update it they would break literally everything. So they would have to make a new game.. which is why tsw exist today
I like train sim world more its like xplane and msfs 2020
Exactly
@jaydy train simulator is more like X-Plane and tsw is more like mfs 2020
I'm not even into train sims, only watching because you made it, but now I know at least.
Haha well thanks
I have both but prefer train simulator. Yes the graphics arnt as good but its 11 years old. TSW is far more advanced but doesn't have good routes or enough content
Understood
I agree. Also if dovetail stops with train sim I’ve waisted well over $300 on dlc 😅
Yea would love to see that
I think the main differences between the 2 is that railworks(ts), you can make your own routes and make custom content but the graphics are nothing compared to tsw and tsw2, Railworks is simple, and so is tsw.
Agreed
The only thing that's a bit hard is route building; it can take ages to do and takes lots of practice. You're sadly not able to change the livery of trains in TS, but I hope they add an easy way to do so in a future update without game files blah blah blah. In my opinion Train Simulator is better. All they need is a route by Lake Okeechobee, FL
Man, I've been looking for something like your video for a whole week. Thank you very much! :D
Personally I will go for TWS2 since I'm not in to simulator that much and the graphics looks brilliant. I already have TS and it is to harsh for me. Always, in my opinion.
Nice review. Concise, clear and helpful. Thanks.
Glad i could help
Didn't know you were a railfan too! Quite enjoy your videos Blu! I'm more a a TS Classic guy, TSW disappointed me greatly by delaying the 3rd party dev tools and taking back their promise on multiplayer. I'm considering getting TSW 2 but I am in no big rush.
Yes i am! And i have been really enjoying the ts pro trains lately
Thanks for the very clear and useful explanation of the differences between the 2 games!
Glad i could help!!.. this was a burning question of mine when first getting into flightsim
One of the best videos of the type I've seen. Thanks a lot. I was looking for the difference between TSW2 and TSW2020 which is really like wtf? haha.. Anyway thanks for this great comparison!
Glad i could help kinda
based on their business strategy, i'm pretty sure TSW will end up just like its predecessor. we all know that dovetail does that to keep the game alive for years, but if dovetail keeps up with that kind of business model. one day microsoft or another game studio will make similar simulation games that are much better, and trust me! dovetail will regret it
Microsoft did have a train simulator back in the late 90s to early 2000s.
And it was a really cool Microsoft game as well. Spent hours and hours and hours. Wish they would pick it back up
@@LinwoodPowell From what i heard most of the people that worked on Microsoft Train Simulator later formed Dovetail Games
train simulator can get extremely realistic with mods and dlcs u can technically do any route in the world
The actual difference is that TSW is a version for more graphical realistic route at a smaller scale the dev team also goes out to survey each route they decide to put in the game to make it as realistic as possible.
What’s interesting is that they actually named it “train simulator classic” now.
Yep as they should! Much easier to understand
Thanks for the clarification!
You welcome
I disagree it think TS is way better they have longer routes more trains and routes and better content for the price TSW got very boring because there are annoying and repetitive scenarios but with TS u can get senario packs and trains for cheap and routes for cheap as well
Technically you are agreeing with me cause i said that exact thing lol haha but all good i feel u
Plus TSW is pretty expensive the game without dlcs is still quite expensive also the dlcs are way too expensive
Maybe in the future once Train Sim World is on the same level that Train Simulator Classic is but definitely not right now (recognizing that this comment comes a year and a bit after the videos positing)
you are spot on. keep the classic.
2:02 "Compared to Train Sim World, there's --"
Edited to prevent spoiling the surprise? lol
You didn't mention the biggest advantage of the traditional TANE is the creator interface, where a complete environment can be made from scratch, terrain, buildings, and track layouts.
Very true. I think i may have skimmed over it.
Yes the editor mode let you make you train at you own taste
I got train sim world 2020 and train sim world 2 and train simulator. I feel like they are all exactly the same really, just train simulator has more routes and trains. If your looking for a good train simulator with quick and easy routes then get train simulator world but if you want more realistic routes and more trains just get train simulator. Its all about preference get whatever looks best to you
yep its true
Train Sim World is pretty incredible. This may come across as minor but for the American locos I do wish there were better sounds by default
Its not minor.. its major and i agree.
Lol preciate you watching and great to hear your opinion. Thats alot invested
In train simulator world you have to operate every part on the locomotives
Classic "Train Simulator" has one big and sad problem - The game engine only supports 1 core in the CPU.
Even on the producer's trailers you can see that this game has big lags... :/
Yea sadly
Play what you enjoy
Man I wish there was a route creator on tsw, would like to try and make a friggin chalk river/beachburg subdivision route
Yea.. that would be a game changer
@@BluGames I agree big time
real ones remember having a railworks disc and box circa 2009
Thank you for this, I just started with TSW4 and a complete newbie, I have seen lots of websites offering downloads and to be honest I got confused which sim they were for, so many similar names. I did see these 2 and I was wondering if they were compatible but you put me straight on that.
As for the sim holding your hand I liked TSW for that coz not everyone is familiar with the controls, with TSW you can go over the training as many times as you like to get used to the basics.
Glad i could help
TSW2 could be so great... but it just isn't.
now I know you're joking. "poor port to pc"??? works perfect on my pc.
The game itself is pretty ancient anyways, and what you're really paying for when buying it on Steam are the 3 included routes.
no game company would make their game open source lmao
Awesome video ! I already have TS 2022, do you recommend buying TSW ?
If theres a route you like yea
VR? Would love to play this in VR.
Oooow yea
I enjoyed the analysis and the video very much, right up to the very end. Then you had to stick that god bless you bullshit in. Here's a clue: not everyone believes in your imaginary friend in the sky and those who don't get tired of having it flashed in our faces constantly. Think about how arrogant that seems to a non-believer, or straight-thinker as we tend to see ourselves. But hey, may the Flying Spaghetti Monster bless you with extra cheese! Ramen!
Honestly, I’d say Train Simulator is superior to TSW... here’s why
EXCELLENT! Wish I had seen this before I purchased TANE21, now like you, I now own both.
Lol haha!! Yep
How is tane in comparison isn't that basically the same has the train sim 20xx
I have trainz 2006 (and 2012 I don't play)
The biggest surprise with those games is no mater how good the computer is it runs equally bad
So my old i5 3210m with 4gb shared ram performed the same has my new one ryzen 1600, gtx1060 6gb, 16gb ram
Even the texture overload bug (textures change to ultra low quality wen to many trains are to close together ) carried over
Pretty sure its because they locked the texture memory and other hardware to a specific amount
I just want a train simulator with true, realistic accurate physics and long, heavy trains. Physics where the train doesn't immediately start moving when you increase engine power. I want a sim where I can have 200 rail cars and engine cars in the middle of the train if I want on long tracks.
Try “Run8”
I think why ts classic is still running because it's the place for dtg to test dlc's that would eventually come to tsw. Just look at all of tsw dlc which already available in ts classic way beyond.
Good point
Train simulator id still running due to the amount of creators for third part content and more and more people coming to the simulator because tsw 2 is not a simulator
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on telling Dovetail to let train simulator classic go. There is huge third party support off of steam, with a payware and freeware add-ons, which is currently not possible in tsw, as there is no way to get a third party train or route into the game, the best people can do at the moment is liveries. And, even if they do add a way to share trains and routes, they can never replace the huge catalogue that train sim classic has, both on and off steam.
yeh TS needs to stay.
If you think TSC is PSOne graphics, you've never seen the PS1...
You get my point lol
Here's a simplified explanation for the traim Sims...
TSW is more in-depth for realism.
TSx is more freight and train control.
Trainz is more focused on creation.
Blu check out Derail Valley when you get some time.
Yea i have it. Its pretty coll
Train Sim World is a better hands on. You also have the ability to move around the station and track are or even walk along the entire railroad. The trains are on a schedule and will approach on a 24hr. schedule daily.
This is one of my fav things about TSW
Graphics point doesn't matter for most people, either way it's not gonna run well with anything higher than low settings
Switch switches manually by hand? I'm glad you didn't do it by foot. 🤡🤡
I may just end up getting TSW2 since Trainz: A New Era isn't really clicking with me.
Very helpful, thank you!
You are very welcome thanks for watching
TSW2 is far far better, not just in graphics but in gameplay too.
I agree
A couple things you didn't mention about the 2 games;
Train sim classic: You can make custom trains and routes.
If you have a decent loco and modern updated route with third party mods, the graphics are quite good. Well better anyway.
With the right addons yes it can look “better”
@@BluGames I’ve been updating old routes. So new grass, trees, buildings, embankments. If you got the Armstrong powerhouse sky/weather pack and RW enhancer for shade. It makes a big difference.
Thanks so much, man. As someone who is just getting back into trains (you should've seen my model train setup when I was a kid back in the '80s), it's really hard to figure out what is the best option out there.
Love your content. Keep it coming!
stop livin the past is how u keep creating the same mistake by letting them reoccur!!!
Luckily TSW does go on sale. I just picked up TSW 2 for like $8 and there is DLC available for around $15.
Yea.. i just recently discovered run8
I would agree bringing train sim classic to and end and or start focusing on tsw 2 and give us things like steam trains and stuff. With that said all the trains brought to tsw will be able to take on a much more realistic feel
No train simulator is leaps and bounds better than tsw
Realistic feel? Graphics don't bring realism.
So glad i could help enjoy!
And is TSW 2 or TSW 2020 the newer one? And why on Earth is the DLC so expensive?
Tsw2 is the newer one
@@BluGames Thanks Blu!
Thank you for the explanation - now I chose which of the games to buy! I prefer TSW 2, so I'll go with it!
You welcome glad i could help
I want to like this but trains are just so
Predictable! Bc of the tracks
Hey thanks for the vid
Seems a little like I didn´t like your review but I did ; - )
Well thank you! And enjoy!
I just accident purchased TSW on ps5 lmfao.... i guess i will enjoy this.
Lol wow
Epic Games Releasing Train Sim World 2 for free from July 29 to Aug 5.... Don't miss it....
Yes indeed
Very well explained
Thank you i really tried to break it down
@@BluGames great, you may see my channel, i am a classic railworks addon builder, i have build some add-ons
Thanks
@@ItAbel-xy3xk dlc is not expensive it takes thousands of pounds to source and build assets for a route
What if I don't really care about all the nitty gritty details of how to run a train, and I just want to make it go easily, and then enjoy the ride? and look at the scenery and the pretty train from the outside. Do any of these games do that?
Train sim world does that. That would be best for u
And what's wrong with the TSW map then? Expand on this please? I don't see a problem with it, it's simple and easy to see the A to B points.
they are not geting rid of it due to it making much more
Blu, you know I love this channel, but what the hell is "aksed" around?
I am big fan of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator games and I have been thinking on trying Train Simulator games and thinking on getting one for some time.... what scares me most is actually number of DLCs for games and how much of them are needed for nice enjoyment and complexity of games itself..... but thanks on short explanation.
You are very welcome unlike ETS you dont need ALL the dlc to really enjoy it. From train sim u just pick the few routes that interests you. And when u get bored with that then branch out and find more
I really wouldn’t worry about that mate the DLC’s are bigger than you would think doing all the routes and scenarios collecting all the medals 🥇 etc will keep you busy a while on each
I will truly be happy if DOVETAIL would allow
TRAIN SIM WORLD to use its RailDriver USB
Desktop Cab Controller making it compatible with
TRAIN SIM WORLD. Sim world gets boring when using the remote.
But the desktop controller would makes Sim World more authentic to play.
Dovetail would gain a bigger bang for their buck if they
would allow the desktop controller to be compatible
with Train Sim world. As you mention they are both the
same company but different departments. HERE IS A THOUGHT,
( TEAM ) MEANING Together everyone achieves more.
TSW already had Raildriver support as of a few months ago
A beginner question, is Train Sim World 2022 without any addon enjoyable to play or I will get bored rapidly ? I don't know how many trains and path we have on the game without any addon. It's can be so expensive with addon I'm speechless ...
Depends how much you like trains.. there are only 3 routes in the base game. With lots of scenerios, that have you driving back and forth on those routes.
@@BluGames Ok thank you ! I will check and see :)
Is there a train simulator that works in VR? I would like to ride as a passenger. (I already have Derail Valley)
I don't have that train and train Sim world I have to buy it for my credit
Ok cool
Fuck this game. They promised steam engines, then didn’t do it, and are promising steam engines with another payment for TSW2.
This was exceptionally helpful, even in 2024. Thanks.
Glad it helped!. Everything said here is still true actually lol
