Completely agree. People have perfected their characters as well making combos predictable. There's not as many chances for players to mess up and capitalize on people's mistakes.

This game heavily favors polarizing characters due to how many matchups there are. The more you get to play your gameplan and not the countergameplan, the more consistent you can be in this game.

I honestly don't find Game & Watch that bad to watch. At least he has to constantly engage and fight with opponents. Steve and Sonic both make you play THEIR GAME and invalidate so many options. They're the only 2 characters I dislike for competitive play

Gnw isn’t stupid to watch as a not cool moves character, his move set’s actually very expressive, it’s more of his play style being polarizing and never changing

To me it's mostly the characters. If the "4 horsemen" were playing hype characters I would be fine with them winning everything. Though I feel like this video was recorded a few months ago because that part isn't as real anymore, most of them (and especially Spargo) are starting to get upset more often now, while others like Hurt or Tweek are on the rise.

I think it really is as simple as the best peforming characters being incredibly lame/cheesy/flowcharty. Steve, Sonic, and Game&Watch are simply not who you want to be dominating top 8s if you care about hype/intriguing gameplay. If top 8s were still dominated by picks like Roy, Wolf, and Joker, tournaments would be much more entertaining.

I think there’s a big distinction between characters like Sonic / G&W / Steve who are just boring to watch and characters like ROB / Snake / Kazuya who are clearly strong but have clear weaknesses

i think it's harder to find storyline (maybe compared to peak melee) because people are a lot more sensitive nowadays, especially on twitter, we can't have a "villain" moment anymore because every small mistake a pro player makes requires an apology (example: hbox). Another thing is that the 4 horsemen aren't very talkative, 2 of them are japanese and the other 2 rarely shittalk and stuff.

Glad someone admitted the only reason that people dislike GnW is that he's silly, and conversely that Cloud just 'looks cool' to them.
