Definition of "Can't wait to drive it" . That's a proper restoration ! Loving the videos
HAHA!!! Thank you! =)
Back in the 70’s, my history teacher owned a VW dune buggy made from car kit. It was pretty cool looking with an open fiberglass body. He drove it to school every day, rain or shine. He said the one downside is that large dogs would chase him and one dog tried to jump into the driver’s side. He had to use his left forearm to push the dog back out.
This gives "air cooled" a whole new meaning!
Whole new meaning to 1st drive.
Thanks Mike!
My brain smells what my eyes see and what my ears hear. Thank you for this full size experience. Wonderful work. A real dream.
Thank you my friend !=)
Amazing project showing great results so far. Keep it going. Can't wait for the finished piece of art!
Thanks Jeff!
felicitaciones
Neighbours .... "Mary!!!! It's CT doing his thing again ... call the cops, will ya! .... wait, can you drill in the passenger seat?"
😂😂😂
Ha, ha, ha, ha ha! I was thinking the same thing. Your neighbors either love you or hate you. I would be over in your garage every time I saw you. This is such a cool project. Congratulations. I cannot wait until you marry the body up with this “beast”! ❤
🤣🤣
Mary, he's driving the chassis again
Love this video. Bringing back a legend is an amazing feat. So much work that people do not see. Im glad the cops did not swing by during the road test!
WOW! Thanks man! Yes, there are so many parts that go in to a restoration. It can be a bit overwhelming!
Nothing sketchy here at all! Well done. 👍
😭
now thats a proper Go cart which you can bring your friends with
Florida man doing Florida man things!! Love it!!
Oh, man! This brings back so many childhood memories from 50+ years ago! ❤😊
Pretty sweet CT. I’m just gonna keep saying it. Gettin’ er done. BTW I’m excited to announce I finally reached 1 thousand subscribers! Pretty stoked. Took me forever. Gonna be posting a lot of videos this summer. Can’t wait to see when you put the body back on!!!!
That’s awesome man! Keep up the good work! 👍😎👍
Inspirational! I have the one and only 1965 VW Explorer (kit car) under a tarp in my driveway, and it's obviously way too much work to restore but I should at least make a video. This thing was the love of my life last century. I admire your passionate devotion to a worthy cause. Nice work.
Man that chassis is looking sweet! Wow can’t wait to see it with the body on it! Great job C.T.!👌😎👍
Thanks man!
Love it. Im in the UK and if I did this I would have been in a whole load of trouble. Best wishes to you.
Thanks buddy! 😎😎😎
Yeah, europe sucks for that.
@@PREDATEURLT I'd think you could get into a lot of trouble in parts of America too. Didn't Rich Rebuilds get caught driving unregistered vehicles several times?
That wasn't the most sensible thing in the world to do - but it certainly looked fun 😀
HAHA! =) Thanks George! =)
hey CT this gives a whole new meaning to 'air cooled'
Hey Tom! Yes it does! =)
IT'S ALIVE!!!!!! 🤣
Congrats!!! It's awesome!!!
Thank you!
Great job CT can't wait to see her all done rolling art!!! Sounds strong 💪 have a wonderful rest of your weekend.. keep up the great work 👍
Thanks Eugene! 😎😎😎
Thank you for the ride😲. Regards Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.
Remember lifting the body off an old 1950' beetle on the farm and racing it like that, floorpan and seat only, with a welded support for the steering column, across the fields. It was lightweight, so the 30hp were quite peppy and it was surprisingly off-road capable. Of course, we totally trashed it in the process....The dumb things we did....
nice to see eventually it's moving
Hi. John from Norway. I`m 58 years old. Back in 1976 I was 12 years old and I met this wonderful weichle first time. We had only 3 boring channels on TV and boring radio. No ATV veichles. No cellphones or Internet. No Nothing for fun exept old mopeds. But there was old VW`s. So remove 30-40 bolts and we had what we called a VW Go cart.... Also called a `flundre`of its fish shape. It was totally dangerous FUN driving. Imagine bunch of young teenagers with no licence and tons of adrenaline roaring these things in remote roads. ( I never told my parents what we were doing). Dangerous and sometimes it went bad. But I survived and think back on the youth friendship and fun we had together with our `TOY`... Lethal toy.. Now over 40 years later I found by chance a VW project that will be like what we had fun with in late 70`s.
That motor sounds really strong!! Great build, Man!!!
Thanks Stephen! It's a sweet motor!
Cool, it's a VW kart ! good job CT !
HAHA! =) Thank you!
I bet some of the neighbors thought it was a homemade go-kart and not a Beetle without it's body on!
It's like a mini race car! =)
Ok CT….I am only half way through this video….but I gotta say “so entertaining “Some kind of adult go cart mentality”. I don’t know? What I do know is that “its not gonna be perfect….just eyeball it a little bit”!! This is why I love your channel CT.
Thanks Fred!!!👍😎👍
As well as another good post the bird song 🎵 was lovely 👏👏🇬🇧
Thanks Jon!
Wow CT ! It's like a custom made racing car ! AWESOME !!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks dolf! =)
That is Dope!! Been here every step of the way! Keep on keeping on CT! Loving it!!
Thank you! =)
Congrats 🎊🎉🤗, now that’s a red letter day 👍👍
Thanks Mike!
Good fun, hope to be there soon myself.
Would be cool if you did a video on mounting an Airkewld steering box and how you align the wheels
CT your over the hump on this job... rest should be eeeazy!
Thanks Joe!
Right. A properly done pan looks so good, you kind of hate to cover it all up with the body.
u and that dude did a GREAT job on the disc brake conversion!!
Once upon a time (early 1980s?), I had an old and crusty 1957 Beetle (yep, oval window) and I'd installed a fairly stout 1.6L Type 3 engine into it. Lightened flywheel, dual carbs, 009 distributor, ported heads, long tube exhaust with next-to-nothing mufflers. For the test run, I just used a hand-held string for the throttle. No brakes. The driver's seat was a lawn chair. Gasoline was in the windshield washer tank. Lined it up, pulled the string-throttle, and popped the clutch. Of course the lawn chair fell over backwards, and I was dumped into the rear of the car. The car eventually rolled to a stop. My friends ran up and announced that it had done a wheelie, with the front wheels leaving the ground by about a foot (30cm). Never drove it again, eventually sold it on.
CT iam proud to say you did an awesome job i can't wait to see the body reunited to the pan. CT good for you man👍😎💯
Thanks Atom! =) Soon hopefully!
You Sir are a certified Maniac ! Love it ❤😂
Thanks Chris!
It is looking good and sharp too
Thanks! 👍😎👍
runs nice. Looks like a beach or dune buggy without any of the body.
Thanks David! Yes, I was thinking that as well. =)
Man . If the police catch you .. your domed... 😂
I know...It could happen! =)
@CT
I wish to see a nice body restoration and paint job just as nice as you did the job mechanically..
Best of luck..keep up the good work..🌸🌸🌸
How much is it in the US, driving without registration, insurance, proper lights?
O man. This video brings back memories for me. A friend of mine got a 1966/67 beatle chassis from a scrapyard, someone already took the body off. This was around mid 80 ties. It had two seats, no belts, and NO BRAKES. And no body. Just a very underperforming handbreak was the only way to stop this contraption,. Somehow we got it running with the help of the local garage.
O boy. That thing (only the chassis) was peppy!! I drove this deathtrap and flooring it until third gear on back roads where no traffic ever came. Which was a good thing, as i had no BRAKES to speak of!
But hey, when you are 17, anything goes. That engine made a glorious whoohsing sound, when revving up (and flying) through the gears. Only a single port, but that seat really pushed in my back when fully accelerating. It was great fun...
I had way, way too much fun. And lived to tell. My friend only sat in the passengerseat once. I think you can understand why...
Great job on the restoration!
I stll think you have a funny way to organize your work and your workplace but you did it. There is not a lot of people that can say that... Well done sir !
I appreciate that my friend! =)
EXCELLENT!!! The 2x4 steering column brace and bungies on the gas can is AWESOM!!! great channel to help us with our 72 bus restoratrion. Thank you
Great. I learned to drive a car before any permits on an used 1964 vw beatle in the woods great memories. Was 14 years old.
I was lucky enough to work under a VW factory trained person who worked at the German factory during initial production of the VW beetle. I worked with him from 1963 till 1970. At first just parking cars and doing oil changes and greasing front ends. I ended up rebuilding engines and transmissions and working on all types of foreign cars. Mainly German but sometimes Italian, Swedish, British. The shop was Called Anton Henz Foreign car repairs. If you have any questions feel free to message me. Good video!
That is really cool Manuel! Thank you!
Great job on getting the bug going it looks like right now a overgrown go cart
Congratulations CT!!! You’ve earned that victory lap!
Thanks Rick!
Very impressed with the drive around, I’m sure you were dying to give it a bit of stick. That’s one sweet engine. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Hey Robert! Yes, I wanted to lay into it hard but was concerned about the steering...=)
can not wait for the car to drive keep up with the good work
Thanks Roger!😎😎😎

Get a Berg shifter! You won’t regret it. Also. Cool video!
Thanks man! I might do that! =)
Loved every minute of it😂
awesome! =) Thank you!
22:34 That sure looks like one of those mid 70s GMC motorhomes.
YEAH HE IS DRIVING 👍👍👌👌💪💪
Thanks buddy!
Hi CT you are Incredibly driving that way ,haha very nice did Like it. drivíng that motorized chassis🇺🇸👍🏻 and stay safe🇳🇴🇳🇱☮🍀🤗.greetings.Hubertus
A Beetle without the bodywork.
It's not noisy.
Disc brakes on all 4 wheels.
Formidable!
Greater stability.
This one doesn't rattle under heavy braking at high speeds.
And, rear attraction, uses less tires, because the weight of the vehicle is all in the rear.
Awesome boots (and job) 🙌🙌😊👌🙏🍀👍
Thank you! =)
Excellent, congratulations CT for a great job.
Thanks Juan!
This series is fantastic
Thank you! I really appropriate that. It was a challenge to get it back on the road but I really enjoyed the process so far.
That thing looks so sketchy, just the kind of things I would do jajaja Perfect, I love it.
HAHA! =)
Поздравляю! Машина ожила. Я очень рад за тебя, мужик!
Thanks buddy! =)
New subscriber here, really enjoying this VW build series! You have to appreciate a man who can turn a wrench and use a camera just as well.
Thank you! I enjoy them both! =)
Hey mate.
I have to admit that there were times back when I saw you literally sweeping out the rust and squirrel sh*t from the car when you first got it, that you'd bitten off more than you could chew. You're not an expert, all you have is a little knowledge, tools and a heap of enthusiasm. But here you are, driving the damn thing down the street. Congratulations, you deserve a beer mate well done!
By the way - about the front seeing a bit higher than the back - if I recall correctly you have an adjustable front beam there haven't you? You can easily dial in the ride height once the body is on, so don't worry about that.
Also, aligning the front wheels is very easy, especially with the body off. There's a method using two long sticks and a pencil - I know that sounds like something off the Flintstones but honestly it works bang on and it's so easy. I've always done it on my bugs, and they cruise dead straight at 75mph with no judder at all through the steering wheel. I'm sure the method will be in the John Muir book or somewhere like that.
Again - congratulations, you've hit a fantastic milestone. Julian.
Thanks buddy! Lots of great advice!😎

Hey Jim yes it was a blast! =) Thank you!
Congratulations for your test. Looks awesome!!!!
Thank you! =)
I stopped watching because you never finished anything. Now I’m back…finally looks like you are committed to a project
Looks and sounds good. Now to put a dropped axle in the front...
And short throw shifter
Thank sGeorge! Yes, we might have to do an upgrade soon! =)
I think it is amazing how fast you can do some things people might think you speed up the film but no you are just that fast ,...amazing speed
Thanks Tim! =)
Show, as primeiras emoções de andar nesse belo projeto. Parabéns!!
A beautiful display of the unbeatable weight distribution of a bug.
great video me and my daughter are fixing up a 1972 VW bus with type 4 porsche engine your carb tuning video was super helpful thank you
Amazing progress
Thank you!
Very good ! Congratulations ! Nice job !
Mad respect. Nice dual port dual carb. Sweet
Nice work !!!
Enjoyed this video! The engine looks and sounds awesome!
I just kind of stumbled into this video, but WOW that's some awesome work so far! Love how you were careful starting out and actually took the time to test the gears in slow rolls before going faster. So much care and attention to detail! I definitely want to stick around and see what this turns into at the end. Thank you for sharing 😃
That engine is a beauty!
That was really cool. Who hasn’t wanted to drive a bare chassis around!
Awesome build Sir
Great work dude 👍👍
So exciting!! and you DEFinitely inspire me to NOT half-ass my own Beetle project.
Thanks! Do the best you can!😎
Perfect restoration.
Muito top . Exelente trabalho de restauracao 👏👏👏👏👏
👍😎👍
Nice job! That should give you enough drive to get the body on!
Thanks Darryl!👍😎👍
Really cool CT, runs good 👍
Great job. That was satisfying.
Thank you!
Nice run CT you're that near to getting a complete runner mate. Well done
Thanks Jamie!😎😎😎
10:36 the little hot dog just minding his own business
Amassing job! I want to drive the new 65 VW! Thanks friend, great work!
Good progress, this is exiting.
Thanks Pieter!
Seeing you drive it around reminds of the early bronco, looking forward to seeing you work on that.
Thanks Jeff!
I always love, when best legendary cars are renewed.
The thumbnail looks a lot like my “go kart” of 55 years ago or so. It had been a rollover with the body removed. The original skinny tires slid sideways so well it might not have even been possible to roll it over again because all the high weight had been removed. Cheap, fun, fast. Good go-kart!
Hey Kenneth! Yes, it's a full size go cart! Tons of fun! =)
