- 2008-2013 Nissan Rogue Transmission Oil Change with Oil Cooler Flush.
Drain Pan nut Torque 25FtLb
Oil capacity 8 3/8 qt
CVT Fluid-check manual for specs. I put NS-3 in this vehicle
Great job. I didn't know about flushing from the oil cooler. Job well done sir.
I need you to know and understand that all Korean Nissan CVT have clear CVT fluid!! Amsoil or Valvoline preferably has to be NS2 or NS3 compatible!! The red CVT fluid is for Toyota or Subaru remember that not knocking you videos thanks for the video!! Good luck!! Okay thanks 👍👍👍😮😳🤯👌👍👍
Good job. Video was very helpful to me. I have all the tools except the small pump which I am going to get right now.
Small pump? For what?

You don’t put Red AFT transmission fluid in a CVT Transmissions. CVT transmission fluid looks like new clean motor, but it’s thinner. The CVT Transmission fluid is a clear amber color.

Do you recommend Castrol CVT fluid for a 2008 nissan Rogue Awd ?
Castrol ?
Valovoline?
Mobil?
Oreilys?
STP ?
Wich is a better CVT fluid?
My vehicle has already been flushed and changed like a month ago, but my stepper motor went so I had to take my valve body out. Now my question is does fluid stay in the cooler even if I drained the pan? I ask this because you show a full change, and says 8 to 9 quarts. But in my case would it take that much if the cooler still has fluid in it? The garage I use to work at had a machine that automatically did the flush and refill etc. So I don't even know what it really takes. I'm not a transmission person. I do all the other mechanical work.
No it should take less

The bottom hose of the cooler is it the inlet or outlet? And which one should flush ?
Thank you for the video. This is really helpful. After I drained my 2010 Rogue’s transmission fluid by opening the transmission fluid pan bolt and by replacing the filter, I added new Nissan CVT2 fluid. But, fluid still looks dark brown. Is it normal? Should I do a complete flush from the radiator too as your video shows?
I am not a car expert however you font want old oil mix with the new oil, it makes the new oil week. You should consider doing a full flush.
@@BARR8323 I am going to flush the fluid . Bought Valvoline Full Synthetic CVT Fluid. But having trouble to locate the pipe to flush out all the old fluid from the cooler on my 2010 Nissan Rogue.
Look in the front of the radiator. Usually the MFG keeps the same design, for the year block. I could be wrong if there were issues and they made minor changes.
You have to flush twice, I got it to a shop and they explained me everything when changing the fluid and how to check it, they flushed the fluid twice cuz you have to clean very well the old trany oil.
Thank you very much for sharing. Is the transmission working normal with that type of fluid used?
Thanks!
Yes, no issues.

That's odd. I have a 2013 Rogue and there is no outboard cooler. Is the an aftermarket addition? It looks like an OEM part due to the mounting.
Not an Aftermarket.
@@BARR8323I'm working on my 2013 now and it has nothing like that, weird. Thank you.
@@barnyardstory nissan dealer installed those coolers to prevent the cvt failure issues! They installed it on my 2009 rogue!
How often do you change the transmission fluid in a cvt transmission?
You have to check the book, this is the first time it was done based on MFG recommendation.
30k miles
50k miles
And never go above 4k rpm, remember this is a CVT trans, so you really don't want problems with it or you will have a headache trying to repair it.
Is there a washer on that plug?
To be honest, I don’t recall, I watched the video again but it doesn’t appear to have one.
@@BARR8323 Ooo you'd better hope that washer was there. It's a copper o-ring that should be changed every time it's disturbed since it's a compression washer. Great video, thanks.
@@BARR8323 There is definitely a washer. It is a small brass "crush washer" and it is paper thin once it has been installed so it's easy to overlook it but it is VERY important to change it with every fluid change to prevent leaks. They cost about $1 from Nissan.
You didn't change the trans filter?
No, and I don’t have any issues.
I am planning on doing the same service to my '13 Rouge, so I read the Nissan Service Guide in preparation for the job. It did not find any recommendation to replace the transmission filter. If they don't recommend it I'm not going to do it.
your bottle says atf fluid
It actually says ATF / CVT fluid on the bottle.
Never do a flush on a Nissan rogue, drain not flush
Why?
why do you say that?
@@yipyipyup I found out why... it has a draing plug, just like doing an oil motor change.
@@yipyipyup Because on Nissan Rose they have the CVT transmission situations… And doing a flush is not recommended us drop in spill or called drain and spill is recommended… Because of the particles of miracle particles that are in your transmission fluid I can get stuck here and there and cause it to malfunction… Just read the Nissan book
My 2013 Nissan Rogue currently has 192k miles, purchased from new. Have flushed the transmission every 30k miles this exact way with Valvoline Full Synthetic CVT fluid. Not a single issue. By draining and refilling via the drain plug, you will not entirely remove old fluid. Takes roughly 10 quarts to completely flush.
Can I change my tranmention oil? Or will it break my transmission? They haven't been changed since 2008?
I see a few cements like that.
Take it to a shop where they know what they doing, my trany was about to go out, but luckily changed the oil just on time and replaced the 2 worn parts, now the trany is running smooth again plus I always change the engine oil on time and check the other fluids every 3 months, my car runs smooth no issues whatsoever.
