- Urban Exploration: Abandoned Livingston Creepy House
Built in the late 1700s, this was Mr Livingston's main home. This abandoned now 5,000 Square foot home started out smaller and then was expanded as the years went on. This property also had a smaller home which was considered the slaves quarters. The 500+ acre property Livingston owned was a striving agricultural location for the area. Mr Livingston was a famous and popular man for the area in it times featured in many papers and was president of many clubs. You probably remember the Farmhouse I just posted a few months ago, it resides on this property. In the late 1900s, the property sold to a school right near by. While the school owned it, they rented out the properties to other families. In 1984, this entire property was listed as an historical site due to it long history and was put on the national historical registry. In the year 2000, the school decided to put the property up for sale due it bankrupt issues. People renting the homes had to leave b/c of this. Today the houses remained boarded up, and in terrible shape. A developer owns the land but can not do anything to these homes b/c they were put on the historical registry. When I toured this home, I just had that weird feeling like I was being watched. The floors were in bad shape and I had to wear my respirator mask at it had a terrible smell of mold. I wasn't able to tour this entire house b/c of structural issues with the 3rd floor. Hope you enjoy and video to follow. As always, like, comment, share.

That door did move, when you are in the room and going towards the staircase to go up, I see a mist on the right top corner of the screen, probably your breath? But then you hear the noise and went back, the door on the right that was wide open was then closer to be closed, you moved back to the stairs and for the second time the noise took you to the same room and the door was wide open again, I could hear more tapping all along the video, I think you are super brave to do such an amazing work on those hauntingly beautiful old abandoned homes! Thank you so much!
mhonnyks the mist was my breath as it was a cold morning. Yea that place was freaky and thank for watching
Where did u find it? Which floor was it in? What room was it in? How close to the staircase? And what angle was the door? And which door was it?
What is really amazing is - at the same exact time @5:42 when you hear the door opening you see a long white mist pass by your head going up the stairs. That is a classic ghost sighting. Now it doesn't register because you think its your breath but first its not cold second you have a mask on ! Pause the video and you can see entity in more detail. Thanks !!!
Great video as always, Steve. Such a beautiful yet eerie grand old house. I love the way you edited the sounds so that the viewers didn't have to replay. I don't blame you for not entering the third floor. I wouldn't, either. And your photography is absolutely stunning!
***** Thanks Tiki. You and I both been in a lot of houses and I don't know about you but, this one just freaked me out. I have never been so nervous when doing this one. Thanks for the compliment on the photos!
Abandoned Steve No problem! Oh, I've had my share of scare as well. I ran out of a building because of the weird noises in the attic, and left it on video. You couldn't hear it as loud on camera. I should have amplified it the way you did. But yeah, I hear ya for sure.
***** Tiki can you send me a link to that video?? thanks
Justin Voelker The video is called, "Mysterious Abandoned House on the Pond". It's at the end of the video. It turned out to just be tree branches scraping against a metal roof, though, so not as exciting to watch as Steve's experience here.
Well il scare my self to sleep watching it but at least it was just a tree
Hope you can get back to this gem with a couple of your friends to do a longer vid of the place. Would love to see more detail in the individual rooms, fireplaces, window / door trim, foundation, banisters. All reveal clues to the past and this one holds so much history. Thanks for the vid and remain safe.
That really was one hell of a spooky explore, Steve. You have NOTHING to apologize for. Great job, loved it.
smilinachya Thank You. I try to impress everyone and I know it can be a bummer to not see the entire house
There can be serious consequences to going beyond what you feel good about or safe doing. We'd never want you to do that. Keep up the great work and stay safe bro.
Great video Steve. It's amazing how people aren't a little unnerved by the wind whipping through an old abandoned house when they are anonymously online.
Make sure to check out the newest video of this house if you haven't yet
One of my favorite videos you've done thus far! LOVE that room on the left when you first walk in. Two fireplaces..... Toasty! Hearing the door creeking was creepy! Lots of room in this house!
sara hillebrandt Thanks so much Sara. I liked how it turned out. It was fun being in the moment ha
Fantastic. I kept expecting you to say "Luke I am your father lol", but I could imagine that house being in better repair,it must have been beautiful, double fireplaces in each of the entry rooms, the wood glowing richly in the fires light, just amazing,Great video thanks Steve.
William Smith ha yea it sucks it has to sound like that. Thanks for watching
I agree with one other poster that someone painted over oil based paint with latex paint. The peeling affect was almost too much to watch. I really enjoy all of your videos but this one had very little detail on the windows/trimmings, anything to show the age. It cracked me up that the noises upset you. I've never seen that happen before. The house is beyond old and settling and creaking and caving in. I do not believe in spirits, I think it's the house and our vivid imagination making the sounds. Another great video thank you. 🏠🌾
I have NEVER seen a room with two fireplaces before....that's crazy! Cool video,i love this stuff
apemellowman Thank You. Glad you enjoy my work
This place was super haunted- even glancing over the still photos ; photo#1- looking straight back at the window to the left there are faces in the window panes and the first set of glass doors the one to the right (bottom half) you can see what looks to be a man in a black suit and white shirt, like he was attending a gala event many years ago. , photo#2- straight back again to the kitchen window the top half window pane also shows the face of a woman in a scarf , like on looking across from a place she once stood making meals. Last photo#3- to the left of the stairs near the ceiling see the multiple light anomalies (orbs) that congregate outside the doors of where once lavish parties graced the grounds of this beautiful home.
I absolutely loved the video, there's a strange inherent beauty to places like this, a weird mix of serenity and eeriness that makes exploring these places so fun, and I appreciate your respect and caution when visiting them.
***** Thank You so much. I try to do all my explores in a respectful way
+Abandoned Steve (Historical - Urbex) Hello. My name is Mitch Ross and I have a question for you. Soon (very soon) the city/school district is going to demolish my town's old middle school and I (as a cinematographer and lover of abandoned places) would like to make a video of it. Like a tour (I never went there so I want to check it out). Who should I talk to? I kinda know the school superintendent and I am a really good friend with and a backyard neighbor to the mayor. One of the concerns is asbestos but I can probably just wear a mask and be fine right? I would like to know your thoughts on the matter.
Lol at 6:31 "guy's this floor is very unstable". He just doesn't want to go on the dark, ghostly wind third floor.
Beautiful video and I loved the pics. Looks like a gorgeous day to be out exploring.
Unbelievable! My husband and I were over at the grotto behind the Catholic Church and he said that looks like an abandoned house over there...and off we were exploring through the bramble...and we found multiple old houses boarded up and very strange. One door was opened and we walked in and took photos with my IPhone. We stopped at the Ship Inn nearby and asked if anyone knew anything about the abandoned houses, and noone did, not even Jack the bartender who was there 15 years. We got home and Googled, and thanks to Abandoned Steve, we saw these videos, just 3 weeks after they were taken.
hey Steve no apologies that was an awesome visit with a really creepy vibe thanks man
So sad to see an incredible historic home like that deteriorate. I always wonder about those self-opening and shutting doors ....maybe just floor movement or wind, but I'd like to think something more. This was a great video, thanks for filming the property.
Suzy Whitten Thanks so much Suzy. Glad you enjoyed the video
Great House Steve. Must have been a show place in it's day. It did have a creepy feel to it. I've been in places on a windy day there's times you would swear someone's inside. Great Job!
AbandonedSC Thanks Jason.
Good video again. Just love the stone work and the interior seems to still hold the character of the past. That kitchen was re-done mid 70's or 80's. Amazing what can happen in that short time of this house's life. Judging by the comments you have left about your respirator, I like it because I know you aren't throwing caution to the wind for a 10 min video. I really liked the picture of the light coming in through the front door. What a grand house this once was.
alibabafurball Thank You. Yes the kitchen seemed a tad bit updated as you mentioned
thanks steve.the sounds could be a spirit.you are doing a service as i would not have seen these houses but not for you.soon they will be lost.as you film i can almost see the family at x-mas etc.
Really cool pictures! Thx for the walkthrough!
Steve , your videos are so very interesting. I must give you credit for your filming, so many of the others I've watched are sometimes hard to get a good look at everything. Good work !!
Jennifer Thomas Thank You Jennifer. Some of my older videos I fell for that also which is why I have come a long way on how I do my filming. Glad you enjoy my work!
That house has the weirdest floorplan, you can get lost in there, another great video Steve, thx!
+David Smith Thank you David and yes it does
Awesome house !!! I love all the fireplaces in each room . Thanks
***** me 2. Not an uncommon thing in these older homes
Thanks you and what a gorgeous home at one time!! Loved it!!
Another great video; my compliments to you. As I stated in post on one of your other videos, I was born and raised on a farm in what was a rural farming area with many farms. The larger farms in this area often needed the help of a full time farm hand, especially if the farmer didn't have any sons. Those farms usually had a second, much smaller home on them for the farms "hired hand" (not slave or slaves) and his family to live in. It was part of the hired hands benefits since they weren't paid much in most cases and had no benefits....but their housing was free and that helped! Your video shows one of the rooms having two fireplaces in it. That's the first time I ever saw a farm house with two fireplaces in the same room. It looked like there were fireplaces in almost every room. I mostly heat my 204 year old farm house with a air tight wood in the living room fireplace. I go through a whole lot of wood in a winter, cutting it and splitting it myself and it is a lot work and I have chainsaws and a hydraulic log splitter. I can't even imagine how much work it was to keep all those fireplaces in that house burning........especially since back then they cut and split wood by hand! That in itself had to consume hours of hard labor!
+alphaone101 Thank You and also thank you for better explaining the smaller house.
Great video Steve, love the still photos! Stay safe!
Celine McGrath Thank you Celine!
this is a really cool house, i'm sure very beautiful in it's day. a real shame the 3rd floor was inaccessible, but, your safety is more important. the second house was cool looking in it's own right. shame it was accessible either. great shots as always Steve, and the music choice is always great too.
76southernpride Thank You. I try to get everywhere but safety is more important
I can't stop watching your videos! I love them!! I would be to scared to go into a abandoned home myself!
+Valarie Stewart Thank You so much! Glad you enjoy my videos
so cool,,give me a scraper and a bucket of paint and i will paint the spooks in to the wall,,, ha ha nice video,, such a nice old house
David Frobel Thank you David
Woah, someone was following you for sure, I was saying to myself, get the frig out ! & I just finished the Woman in Black 2 ... lol hahaha... ALWAYS love your videos, photos are AWESOME You, Jason, Pam, my favorites, please stay safe, & God bless !
Gina Diefenbach Yea i was a bit spooked on this explore
Awesome find Steve, you are Very Brave, ya it sure did seem Haunted..Stay Safe..
Great find, and yes it was creepy :) but at some point it must have been a grand house!!
Beautiful house! I don't think there are ghosts in the house. What is in there is the spirit of the house itself, begging the visitor to take pity on it, restore it and give it life again.
Steve, what an amazing job you do. I understand you don't do this with the intention of seeking out paranormal activity, BUT this video is loaded. I'm surprised you don't get more EVP's. And the orbs (the ones that weren't dust) were spectacular. Glad I can play these videos in slow mo. I also appreciate the care and respect you show in your explorations. Has there ever been a place you have wanted to run from, or met up with danger, like meth labs or squatters? Live people can be much more dangerous and scary than departed peeps. Your videos make me worry for your safety while watching. I feel like I'm actually there too ..... cowering behind you! Can't wait to see more.
+sjmartin27 Thank You Sarah!
Yeah your the best one out there you always film from the house thank you so much
This was awesome! Loved it! I am always amazed how a property could be let go and nature take it's course.
Kim Muro Thank You. Yea you would be amazed how fast nature claims a house
I know that in most other channels of abandoned homes the person would call out and say they were only there to video the home. In most cases the person/people squatting there had no problem with them doing so. However, being alone... just not safe to do.
Louise Florida I do exactly that off camera. Asking if anyone is there should not be in the footage IMO. When I do these places, I do not hit the record button right when I walk through that front door. I yell, "hello is anyone there" Pause and listen. Then I mention I am just a photographer taking photos, not security or a cop. Pause and listen. Not one peep came out from any of that. I then walk around the first floor some, take photos, and listen as I am doing it still mentioning as I walk around if anyone is here. There was no squatters in this house, what I heard could of been the house poping, wind, or a spirit. Going Solo is not what I always do. It might seem I am solo on a lot of these, but I am with someone who I tell to remain quiet while I am filming. This house, I was solo. I know the area it is in very well and I wasnt too worried b/c of the area is too nice. Certain places though I will not venture solo like high crime areas and cities.
Abandoned Steve Thank you so much for your clear explanation. It is good to know what happens "behind the scene's" as I wouldn't want anyone to be hurt so I might enjoy an adventure. Appreciate your clearing this up. Look forward to your next one. :)
Abandoned Steve You are still a brave soul!...Love your videos. Your music, the black and white photos, even the heavy breathing (though unintended) lend an air of suspense. Your video's and Tiki Trex's are the only ones I have delivered directly to my mailbox.
Thanks so much!
Loved this! You got balls Steve!
You don't even believe in the paranormal Italiangal56; stop being a lying kiss-up fraud.
If you ever visit again make sure to go into the basement, it's behind the main staircase
I love these videos. I wish I could explore abandoned places. Makes me sad they are rotting away. I want to buy them all and save them! Great work!
secondhandsweetness7 Thank You and me too :)
Thanks again Steve for sharing! I heard a sound like a piano at 1:49. Did you hear this too? Love the door moving on its own! As I have an interest in the paranormal!
equiner7 That sound was my phone. sorry about that but yea the door was creepy
I can't help but imagine how beautiful it used to be.
Good video, very interesting. Nice creepy sounds.
+Lenin Gutierrez Thank you
Beautiful photographs, Steve, very poignant. And don't apologize for being safe and setting a good example by using a respirator. Thanks for a neat explore.
+Kittydoc90 Thank You. Glad you enjoy the photos
I am your father Luke!!! LMAO I am loving your videos especially how clear everything is. I actually feel like I'm right there. I'm trying to get my best friend to do this but so far no luck
I have you checked in manage subscriptions and do not always get the notification. This is great... Black Mold is really deadly ... I saw a dip in the top landing; good choice to not extend to fl3.
Did you see the white, unstable, water type reflection at around 5:42/3? It happened right before the creeking door. That house is HUGE, it's like a maze in there. Great video! Thank you.
J GPap good point out. Freaky! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the great vid, very interesting and loved the intro...I think if I didn't think the paint in the house was peeling in repel of the evil ghosts in the place I could have a lot of satisfaction with a paint stripper....
Steve Norton Good point
I love your videos and especially your stills. Have you ever looked at Oklahoma Ghost Towns youtube? Have you ever put all your stills of your adventures together, like a tour of your area?. I am not from OK. but really enjoy the views of time gone by......wish all of the explorers would do their state.
Donna Macknair I have not seen that. I will have to check it out. I have so many pictures the video would be so long hah
I'd watch......break them up into a series. Just enjoy your work. Thanks for your work.
I l0ved this video, the houses are huge and that first one was scary, omg did you go alone?
+Tammy Trevino I was alone
+Abandoned Steve (Historical - Urbex) omg you got some guts lol. I just watched it again, I read where you put, I felt like I was being watched . usually if you have that feeling that your being watched, you and your gut feeling are usually tight. I heard the door too several times! I think it was a ghost myself.
I see too, this place has many fireplaces. I've never seen two fireplaces in the same room before.
That gave me the chills. I can't imagine how dark it was all boarded up like that.
Great Video 👍
Thank you
I'm really enjoying your videos Abandoned Steve! This one has me especially intrigued with the early time period and the Livingston name...do you know the full name of Mr. Livingston? I'm a family history buff and a Livingston descendant :) Thanks for sharing!!
OMG this video Steve got my adrenaline pumping! When the door opened upstairs that really freaked me out! I was rooting for you to run and get the hell out of there. This was/is a gorgeous house! The fireplaces were in every room I think! Can you even imagine back in the day cutting firewood to keep them stoked. That would be a fulltime job. I love the lay out of the house. It's too bad that this house was just left to rot and die. The developer I guarantee will just let it die and wither away until it's deemed a right off and have it torn down.
licksnkicks haha i was telling that to myself when I was there but trying to keep my cool. You are very much correct for what the developer is trying to do
Another fine video, did you sign the one wall? It looked like everyone else had. I love the last still photo. Thanks for the adventure.
jim ogle Thank Jim. No i did not. I do not deface any properties as I find it disrespectful.
Abandoned Steve Yes, I know, I meant signing the wall as a joke. I hope I did not offend you. I find graffiti disrespectful as well.
no you did not offend me. wasn't sure :)
Awesome. Thx for sharing.
Myra Fox Your welcome. Thanks for watching :)
Very interesting house, such a large room with two fireplaces and two sets of French doors. Its state of decay made the sight of a modern kitchen range seem odd. Very spooky too. Probably the 3rd floor would have been a warren of small rooms for the servants. It looks too far gone to be saved.
+Cathy Audette Yes Cathy I was thinking the same as you about the more modern range and did you happen to see the shiny fan above it? That looked way out of place in the surroundings of that old kitchen.
It honestly doesn't look to far out to be saved. The paint gives a false representation of that. It would, however, cost a busload of money to fix up, seeing the square footage. If I owned the property, I would make the houses bed and breakfast places, and the school as well. Seems like a perfect set up for a getaway! (Especially for history geeks like us!!!) As far as the kitchen, it was probably a situation where the updates were required.
That would be such a good idea for this old place. A bed and breakfast would possibly be profitable and a comfortable and beautiful place to stay.
The one advantage of all that peeling paint is the possibility of finding out what the original colors were when this beautiful house was new. Grand place, this never started out as a typical farmhouse. I'm curious about the big two-fireplace room to the left of the entrance: I wonder if it was once two rooms, maybe parlor and dining room, or built as one big room for dining and entertaining or maybe even as a public meeting room/courtroom for local residents. Two fireplaces, two doors yet between the doors there is an ornately carved frame that makes think a doorway has been sealed up. Like you I imagine what was going on in that house when new and I remembered a line from Thornton Wilder's play "Our Town": "If I could go back for just one day, for just one hour".
Andrew Brendan good point. Maybe it was two seperate rooms opened up into big rooms. Only older photos could tell the story and finding them is tough
The last room you checked out on the second floor, led to another room threw a skinny hallway. Did you see any other way into that last room? btw, Ty for the tour of this beautiful old home.
Leah Drake I did not. I wanted to explore more of the house just with condition was not able to. Thanks for watching
What a shame that these old historic homes are falling apart. It's not hard to imagine the how beautiful they once were. You would think the historical society would do upkeep since they are not allowed to be torn down
1960twilight Being on the historical registry is what is keeping them from being torn down. However they are not being maintained
That's what I mean. If their on the registry, they should be maintained. Such a waste. Before long the younger generations will never know the fine artistry and workmanship that went into these homes. The rich histories will be lost.
What you are calling taps, sounds like footsteps/walking to me
the owner oughta fix these places up and do tours through them..theres always people interested in history..
Rebecca Moody as you can see.. people has tours in them every day, its a booming business for us explorers ,right?
What makes paint peel away like that?
How could it have been the wind the windows are boarded up
The open door downstairs could have possibly let a draft go throughout the house. I've heard some older houses were built to let air travel through rooms easier. But it could have been the spirits of past residents, too. Either way, it's pretty creepy.
Stephanie Hamilton true
It looks as though it was lived in not too long ago. Great video.
Thank you Kimberly
Man it dose't mess with to her those noise. I notice you did not look behind you a lot. I would be very scared I could not go alone, but thanks for the video.
lammar peeter your welcome. Thanks for watching
+Abandoned Steve Of all the houses/mansions you have entered and explored, I have to say this one here really CREEPED me out. Hearing those doors, I'd expected to see something when you were moving your video light back towards that one room. Weren't you like scared or startled, at least? Not something you hear everyday.
great video. Did you enywhere or anytime really see or felt the "paranormal" activity?
SweetiePie Queen i did not feel anything, just heard things
So sad. Another beauty left to rot.
Odd house. Looks to be radiators in some places, central heat vents in other's.
I love hearing you breathing. I don't mean that in a weird way. I just love hearing what your hearing and seeing what your seeing. The sound your feet make as you walk through the house. All of it!! I don't like it when's there's music playing or people are talking back and forth excessively. You do it perfectly! One question, why do you think they board up a house like this. To me it seems like a lost cause. So why try to protect it? Do you know?
Gina Ziesmer laws most likely require you to board up a house that were broken into. Some ppl will board them up to try and protect them from Vandals. Honestly I think it just tells them to come get it
Were you scared, Steve? I was. Very cool adventure!
Leisa Irwin lets just say maybe haah
Holy crap THAT WAS CREEPY!! JEEZ, DUDE!!!!!
Great video. I think it is terrible that developers are allowed to buy historic homes and just wait til they fall down so they can build shoddy ugly new homes
thank you. I agree
does moisture make paint peel so bad in those houses?
+Deloris Jones yes
How beautiful house.
looks like it's been empty along time but has Satellite dishes outside
+asecobra It been empty since I believe early 2000s
+Abandoned Steve (Historical - Urbex) Thanks for this note, I was wondering that. It's astonishing to me a house can get in that bad of shape so quickly. I've worked on restoring several plantations down here in Louisiana, and this house can definitely be saved, but it would take a lot more money than it's worth - just needs to find an owner who wants to enjoy it and live there forever. Great vid, thanks!
Brill video.it was pretty creepy.do u ever spook yourself in these places ?
Many times, trust me!
cool video, i would have left immediatley if i heard those sounds and i was alone.
Thank You
What camera do you use sir?
good stuff
Looks like you explored the house like i did alone in the Mental institution .
Only every time when i heard a sound i turned my light of LOL, not because i was scared, but because i thought it was security..
urbexgamma ha yea no way any security was around this place as it was pretty remote.
You said door opening again at about time stamp 5:50.... Which door was it?
Do they still use the house for haunted house in October man I miss the old days of my childhood - grew up in the area when they had hayrides and bonfires !!!!!
+24556136 I never knew they used this for a haunted house?
What's with the heavy breathing noises in the background
Abandoned Steve is in a class all by Himself , yes some of these young guys will go down tunnels and jump holes in the floor etc. etc. and that's awesome but the calm steady and well placed camera work by this man is something that will take many years for them to get that skilled (if they ever get it). This is one of the classic explores that is if you like haunted houses ! 1:54-58 face in the window...maybe but Pause at 2:02 exactly, as he turns the windows at the other end of the room - look at left window under the plastic now tell me that's not a face of a ???? wtf ! ;:->0
very nice looking house, as others have said...that's just the house talking. obviously it's been neglected for decades
Oh yes and I did hear footsteps right when you turn to face the restroom on the second floor at timestamp 4:52, it was about three or four steps to your left I think
Interesting to see what if anything has changes in the time you visited it last. Not much I see. Same old strange atmosphere to it.
MrAnimeopera the only thing that changed from my first visit was the front door wide open and the taller grass
you can tell it used to be a beautiful house.
I like the house, but dang, a lot of paints.
I live I the house right before u get to the a banded road, on the left side. Knock for any questions. I'll fill u in on some details about the property.
I don't know the laws concerning historic homes--except that changes must meet specific requirements. BUT--as someone else said, it's shameful and just plain absurd that a buyer can choose to let a historic bldg just fall apart if they don't want to restore it. The law should be amended--if someone or company is responsible for a historic bldg, they should be legally OBLIGATED to maintain the structure's soundness. They wouldn't have to restore it (put in plumbing, new wiring, etc.) but they should have to keep the roof, framework, doors and windows, repaired and protected to keep out the elements so that one day the bldg. could be restored. That would be fair.
Video 👍
Steve, you mentioned a smaller home that may have been for slaves. At the time this house was built was slavery legal in that part of the country and then later outlawed? I know of indentured servants who were essentially slaves but for a set amount of time.
Andrew Brendan Good question Andrew. I am not very sure. Another view mentioned that the smaller house was for the slaves, or workers of the farm.
I THINK SOMEONE WAS IN THERE WITH YOU. NOT SAYING IT WAS A "GHOST", PER SE, BUT SOMETHING.
Uggghhh just watching felt like i was being watched too DONT GO BACK
Me:*reads title*
My last name is Livingston
I'm not even kidding bruh
Mine too... lol
