    I’m so glad to find this. My seed of anger was small but decades of abuse nurtured it, I’m trying to move past that now and nurture my inner child instead of my anger seed.

    Thich Nhat Hanh is such a great and lovely soul. Sometimes I hug him in my mind because he really teaches me or reminds about important things that I still have to learn and to practice.

    A long time ago, I used his breath of life meditation talk to help me get through my root canal procedure. I think this was a very powerful way to cultivate this lesson into my resting mind. Now it comes as second nature to me, and I notice it, especially when I am in distress. It happens all the time. All i need is to notice my own breath and I can be present.
    I love Thich Nhyat Hanh

    I recognize myself having embodied a lot of anger, it erupts from time to time being triggered by challenges I cannot cope with. I got accustomed to a very deep sense of structure which hardly deals with sudden changes or abrupt behaviors. I am unskillfull with regards to very challenging situations and this caused me a lot of trouble, being prison of negative emotions.
    With each chunk of suffering going through transformation, I become more free. It's a process I get along with.
    Thank you, Thay, for sharing this valuable story😊

    thank you so much dearest Thay for this wonderful talk. I've never really understood the phrase "anger is poison for the angry person" until the last 2 years of running my own social enterprise, being taken advantage of by other institutions who are only looking out for their own interest and working overtime to fulfill their requests just because i thought i should be kind. the seed of fear, anger and ill will subsequently grew larger and larger until they were my default lens in analyzing any new partnership. i had to do that to protect myself and our company, but i realized later on that the effects were almost too much to bear. it was indeed poison that slowly seeped the health and joy from my life. i don't know how much that depression would have spiraled if it hadn't been for the daily practices i was smart enough to do continuously as much as i could. now i'm in the process of cleansing the poison, of looking deeply to change my wrong perceptions, as well as establishing clear boundaries so i'm not foolishly kind again... thank you so much dearest Thay and the noble sangha for being there always and sharing these wonderfully practical methods of dealing with negative emotions!

      @@alkaagrawal6793 of course, friend. i think what worked for me was to practice sitting and walking meditation daily as much as i could (sometimes even if it was just for 2 minutes in a busy day). those small spaces of freedom continuously gave me the time and space to look into why i was feeling so angry and suspicious of certain people or institutions. please friend, make sure to take some time everyday to check in with how you're feeling, to recognize anger, and hopefully bit by bit, you will understand it better. for me, after months of doing that, especially during quarantine when i had much more time to sit, it suddenly became much clearer why i was so angry and once i saw the reason, it was easy to find solutions to prevent that from happening again...

    Soon we shall lose Thay. But recall: suffering is the disease, the Dhamma is the medicine. With Thay's likely imminent passing, our teacher urges us to remember non-duality, that Thay's death will not bring about negative emotions in us, because we neally will not have lost.

    My father got violently angry every three days - he ruined my and my sister's lives.( we all have CPTSD +) we have been hard wired now. We would need to spend 90% of our time and day meditating. We have been rendered ineffectual. He dreamed of raping us almost every nite but never did. Interestingly, we are more dysfunctional than victims of incest (non-violent). However, we cannot afford$ to do what we need to do. There is no retribution.

    • @elizabethh6638
      @elizabethh6638 Рік тому

      I am so very sorry this happened to you. That is horrible and your father has very severe issues and the fact that he said those things to you is just horrifying. He is a very sick man.
      The best thing you can do is for yourself and your soul is to forgive. Let the pain seep out of you with forgiveness. You are only hurting yourself and the ones you love by holding onto it and not forgiving. I need to remember this too as I have been very hurt. But forgiveness is helping me heal. I would recommend getting help, a therapist who can help you through your anger. Anger comes from great sadness. We must address this great sadness and forgive to begin to heal. God bless you.
