What do you guys think of the iPhone 15 Pro Max? Also, I made an error in low light the camera shoots at 12 MP instead of 24 MP.
I have the 13 Pro, my first ever iPhone and I've been an Android user since day one. Fighting the urge to get the 15 as I dislike the notch and I want the USB C, but then again I've only had the 13 Pro for 16 months and feel like I should get at least another year out of it! I need to stop watching these iPhone 15 videos!

Beyond the cameras which most of the times are fantastic, the usb C port is the biggest improvement this year. It feels more “natural “ to use it.
Ya, the big take away for me is how it feels this year that's the real upgrade but then again it shouldn't BE an upgrade for the phone to just feel better to hold. It's solid device but more for iPhone users coming from an iPhone 11 and earlier.

big change !! It's really great for Apple's loyal customers, but Apple doesn't really care about customers. It drains the advantage until the last minute, then tells you it's a great advantage, but it's actually too late.

What I have noticed, and you can see with the video at 5:20, that the 15 pro max's camera has more 'natural' colors, compared to the 14 pro max's. I BELIEVE, that this is software based. I used to never upgrade, in sole purpose to jailbreak, and the camera quality would be on par with the new release (for the most part). I believe this is the case this year.

Actually I just tried the 15 Pro Max in the Apple store. The new round design is too slippery to hold.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and I think my next upgrade will probably the the iPhone 17. I typically upgrade every 4 years or so which gives a pretty good amount of new updates plus a new design language to make it really feel more like a new phone. I haven't had any issues with the 13 Pro other than the fact that it feels heavier than it looks but it's not like it's uncomfortable or anything.
13 Pro is hands down one of the best iPhones. I loved that thing. I agree wait if you're still happy

The heavier it is the more premium. The 15 is an absolute turn off with that light weight. If isn’t heavy weighted i don’t want it. Also that titanium looks like aluminum
@@redeem5858 We have this misconception that heavier means more premium maybe with some items but phones I want them to be light since its in your hand all day.

I'm happy with the 14pmx. I wanted the 15pmx but after watching I don't feel the changes are drastic enough for a change. LOL
14 pro max and fold 4 user here. No intentions on upgrading, there isn't enough there to justify either point of entry for this years models. Great video man!

These phones aren’t made for you to constantly upgrade every year, which is what a lot of people fail to see or to even understand.
Yeah, only reason I’m doing 14 pro max to 15 pro max is so my 15 year old can have my phone and I can use usbc to charge.

The only reasons why I would upgrade from 12 Pro Max are the battery life and the 120 mm telephoto.
2.5x telephoto isn't quite that different from 1x main lens on 12 Pro Max

No, I'm good. I know that it is buttery smooth, but at the end of the day I don't really need that and also it doesn't give me like visible results on a daily basis.
The iPhone 13 line-up was too good. Don't really see myself upgrading from my 13 Pro Max. I could see someone with the regular 13 or 13 mini upgrading, but no one with the 13 Pro/Pro Max should upgrade unless you're a real Apple enthusiast.

main reason i bought mine. from a regular 14. the upgraded 5g attena that only in pro models. usb c. and usb3 for dumping videos and photos. also the brighter screen is a plus
i think the main change is the USB-C and the the chip that makes it a little faster, but iphones always had a good camera.

13 Pro Max - my battery life is still excellent for normal daily use and the latest iOS 17 updates have improved functionality .
While I like the new portrait mode on the 15 Pro Max and the other camera upgrades I’m less excited about the newest phone than when I from the 11 Pro Max to what I have now .
I’ll check in to your summary on the battery life in a month’s time as I have read multiple reviews from 14 Pro users that the battery life on theirs was not good and will be interesting to see if this issue has been resolved on the 15 Pro and Max .

I got a iPhone 14 pro max and I’m staying with it , not much of an upgrade for me but a different color and usb-c . I’m a point and shoot type person so not into all that camera stuff . I’ll just wait for next year and see what Apple brings🤷🏼♂️
Interesting you pointed out the speakers are the same across the two models. MaxTech has uploaded a comparison video showcasing that there is indeed a difference between the two. I wonder if this is only due to their unit being subject to daily use, therefore collecting lint/dust or other particles that could impact clear audio reproduction.
if you can connect a usb c audio interface with a few mics connected which you can record directly into voice notes, that would be insane

I went and sussed out the camera specifications, seeing that the sensor and optics were practically identical on the mains lens except for the new coating (Which doesn't seem to help with that orb thing unfortunately)

I’d take the 3X lens over the 5X any day. Another prime example of people just thinking a higher number equals better. 3x zoom or 77mm equivalent is a far more useable than 5X or 120mm equivalent in mobile photography. It also means anything below 5X zoom up until 4.9X is going to look better on the 14 pro max. This is no upgrade.

My first reaction was, "woah it's nice to hold" and "is this plus or pro max". I was using a 12 pro max.
Man o man. I wonder how this compares to the 13Pro- how zooming in 3-5x on the 15 compares to 3-5x using the telephoto on the 13pro. Night shots too. The 48mpxl sensor is a big deal. I won't miss promotion. What other advantages does the 13pro have over the regular 15?

As a gamer I chose to take back last year's Max after one week due to touch-latency being terrible compared to the Android. When Iput my finger on display, 👎 had to touch hard and often and this was before I installed a screen protector which really didn't make it worse. Hope this helps. I hope the 15 Pros have addressed it as I liked the 14 Pro Max except it was so noticable. I picked up an S23U and touch latency was back to normal.

Hey ! This is a great review but your final advice is a bit strange, if your iphone has a bad battery life, just replace the battery, you don't have to buy a whole new phone just because the battery has a bad health :/

I havent noticed any improvements when it comes to lense flares, it still shows theese annoying green orbs, specially when taking night time photos around city lights etc. you will see the flares are still there just like before. I was really hoping that they finally got rid of rhem or at least that they been reduced but sadly not.
Woah im really surprised apple decided to open up the USB-C port for things like ssd’s, card readers and WOW an RJ45 dongle….that is actually shocking.

Personally i BARELY ever use the 3X zoom and I will probably barely ever use the 5X Zoom but everyone may feel different. For Battery life I'd go for the iPhone 15 Plus or iPhone 15 Pro Max

Care to tell how the battery (sortof) behaves with something “energy intensive” is connected thru the USB-C port? What dongle did u hook up? My 15 pro Max will not arrive until mid October. I am moving from 12 Pro Max so I expect to notice a real convenience… and like declutter some iCloud space thru a SSD hooked up to this new iPhone. Thx!
Great question! I need more time to test that out but for now I can say that the USB port will only power up to 4.5W so it really depends how often your accessing data.
@@MatthewMoniz the info about 4.5W helps. A couple weeks ago I grabbed 2 laCie 1TB SSD “rugged pro” without noticing they required lots of juice and I am abroad now!!! I opened 1 of them and so far, my iPadPro 12.9 cant make it work, it only works with my MacBook Pro (thunderbolt 4)… by the time I come back I wont be able to return them, so the iPhone is my only hope (SSDs at the Apple Store were quite pricey). I saw that u plugged an RJ45 for your Ethernet network (amazing that it works). Great video with a bunch of info! And looking fwd to hearing about ur upcoming findings… Not so excited with ur bottomline (not a must to move to 15 pro max if u have a 12 pro max and the battery is not a pain in the arse)

Yeah I tried to put on my 2.5 gigabit ethernet adapter and it recognises it perfectly. Haven’t done a speedtest yet though 😄
The microphone in 14 pro max gave better noise isolation than 15 pro max

I have a 14 pro max from a 13 pro max even though its basically the smallest upgrade in iphone history. I just basically got the 14 pro max for the price I sold 13 pm from a family member. But I wish I got the 15 pro max, cuz this doesn’t feel like a new phone lol. Only difference to me is dynamic island tbh.

My iPhone is 11 Pro, and I'm twiddling my thumbs about the upgrade now. My battery is at 82% now, after 4 years of usage, and I'm missing the 5G. That's at the very least.
I have a 14 pro max and skipping the 15 pro max. Not enough this year to get me to upgrade. Maybe I will get a second phone. Something folding to play with from Android to hold me over till the 16.

Forgetting that there’s a next generation chip for better communication between Apple products, built in noise reduction, built in ray tracing, built in Dolby atmos screen, a brand new 3nanometer chip, previously was 4, built in action button and more. So while software is important we can’t deny that there are things here that are possible due to what’s new under the hood and while some of those features, like ray tracing, aren’t important to some, to others are.

Thanks for this thorough review Matthew. This year is definitely more of an former „S-upgrade“. I didn’t want to get a new phone in the first place because I got the 14 Pro Max on launch day last year. Buying a new phone every 2-3 years definitely gives you more value these days.

14 pro max is the smallest upgrade in iphone history lol. I only have one coming from 13 pro max because I basically got the upgrade for free so why not. But 14 pro max was lame upgrade wise. Louder speakers, dynamic island, and better macro photos is all I notice. Not enough gpu performance increase to notice much difference while still not getting the new games they are locking to 15 pro’s 😡 each new phone only has like 10% cpu improvement since the 12. The 14 pro max only increases gpu performance over the 13 pro max by like 12% if that. Even 15 pro max only upgraded performance about 20% over the 14 pro max. And about 1.8x faster for ray tracing, not 4x. Id still rather have 15 pro max due to getting exclusive new games (certainly could run on 14 pm and even 13 pm without ray tracing screw Apple for that) and usb-c there’s at least some improvements
@@SuperD00D always depends from what phone you were coming from. I upgraded from a 12 Mini so for me it was definitely an upgrade.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro, which I love. I'm not too happy about having to upgrade to a Max to benefit from the 5X zoom. Still undecided, I would love to see a proper iPhone 13 Pro VS iPhone 15 Pro camera comparison video.
I’ll tell you this, the Max models are undeniably the best out there. When I got the 14 pro max, my eyes felt behind switching screens on the phone. It was so fast and I still love it. You gotta try it

Hugely informative. Camera upgrades at the moment, are incremental like the 13 to 14. Obviously telephoto is a game changer but if I had a 12 or 13 I wouldn’t upgrade. Lots of rumours swirling around that it’s coming to the regular iPhone 16 pro.
So you wouldn’t upgrade from 12 pro max to 14 pro max? (That’s why I’m here 😂 watching the comparisons) I just need a good camera for work

I think with the camera test the sound quality is the same but twith the 15 it shows a little more detail.

The white balance of the 15 pro max is warmer like the 12 or 13, whereas the 14 turns pictures more grayish
I got the 14 PM a month ago. Love the heavier feel makes it feels like a real phone. 2.0 is old and lightning charges as same as MagSafe 15 watts. Camera was 2 small upgrades. You should see the drop tests on the 14Pro Max and the 15 Pro Max. Makes the 15 PM look like a piece of junk.

Been considering getting the 14 pro max for a month as well, but the absurd weight and shitty ergonomics of the 14 made me wait for the 15.
And now, that the 15 and reviews are here, it just makes me want to get a Galaxy S23+ or wait for the Pixel 8 Pro, lol.
120hz and the base 15 plus would be perfect, but Apple and their disgusting upselling has to buttfuck their customers somehow.

Some people won’t get their phones till all the way to around thanksgiving. 14PM I got for only $11.11 a month on a trade in of S21. $700 trade in couldn’t say no to such a good deal. I went with AtNT. So if you’re interested in a Low rate. Ya might check on it. It’s a 36 month thing. But they give you the option to pay it off early. 14PM has been the best phone I have personally ever owned. Perfect all around phone. 15PM light weight and titanium. Just a disaster waiting to happen when it gets dropped

There is definitely a difference in picture quality, the 15's images look less processed, you can see this on high contrast edges. Maybe because the higher MP count they don't need boost sharpening as much. The other difference I see is the simulated bokeh looks more accurate around the face and especially hair.
