Dale Chihuly is great, but i wish the real artists behind creating these pieces (the people who literally bring his drawings and vision into existence) would get some recognition. They are the ones making these pieces.

A little sand, a little heat and a lot of magical talent. Each piece is individual in its beauty. Incredible! I came really close to buying one of his pieces but then I realized that we live in San Francisco and things have a tendency to, shall we say, rattle!

My fiance couldn't get why I was so proud of being from the same area as cihuly and being constantly surrounded by his work until I showed this video to him. (He's never seen the amazing bits of my state.)

Hey look! Dhurke Sadmadhi’s Spirit, but in REAL LIFE!
I remember when this came to my Children’s Museum. There was a fantastic rotunda under the fire above the ceiling.
Magnificently done Dale, God bless you and thanks for actualizing your magnificent talents.

Very interesting to see fire and sand taken to the edge of thinness. Love your sculptures.

In the early 2000s, this cyclops would bring young women to various Seattle movie theaters to "get a piece"

Wish I could learn how to do this. But glass making is so expensive and I can't afford it. Tried it once and also didn't have enough breathe to blow up the glass. If only it were cheaper and I could try to mix glass with ceramic and gold.

    I wonder how much
    lung/diaphragm strength
    this requires.

Not a lot, once you get it going - similar to blowing up a new, unstretched balloon... but I've only done smalls... plates under 12". But remember, everyone starts small - all skills grow as you practice, even lung capacity - else you work with glass & tools, pulling but not blowing.
