My father was a glassblower in the 30s in New York. He was Polish as was my grandmother. He was invited to join the Manhattan Project because of his skills but couldn’t because of immigration issues. Fast forward to 2002 when I had disc surgery. I was watching tv and a PBS show comes on about his installations in Venice. I fell in love with the colors the art and the glass. I’ve seen his work in Las Vegas Atlantic City Mohegan Sun in Connecticut the New York botanical garden and the Virginia museum of art in Richmond. It moves me very deeply and because of him and my grandfather last year I took a class in glassblowing. It was incredible and made me appreciate the skills these glassblowers have. I have glass straws that my grandfather blew and I have memories of every Chihuly I’ve ever seen. It makes me happy.
I be have had the rock edge on numerous occasions to view your beautiful work in Nashville,TN at Cheekwood and in NYC at the Botanical Gardens!! I am a huge fan. Thank you!!!
Saw this work in Seattle. Bought everything, bags, umbrella, prints, bowls. Enjoy it very much nearly every day all over again. Also saw irks elsewhere in USA. I’m from Australia.
The love I have for your work its totally transformed the way I see light, color and dimension. I have seen your works all over the east coast and lucky to be near the Biltmore to enjoy your works. I have the honor to have 2 pieces of your work, Thank you
Years ago I dined at a chic joint in SoNo (South Norwalk, Connecticut) called Ocean Drive. I’m pretty sure they had one of his big “octopus chandeliers” hanging from a gallery ceiling. Mesmerizing thing to look at. I wonder where that piece wound up after the restaurant folded?
Although it would be a treat to exhibit at The Biltmore annually, these exhibitions are a bit more rare than that--so be sure to catch "Chihuly at Biltmore" while you can!
I saw an amazing Alice in Wonderland themed exhibition in a garden at a private residence in Long Island, N.Y. in the late 90’s. One piece was a huge flower set inside a bowl formed in the landscape. Beautiful and impressive just in the concept and construction.

The glass at the Space Needle is phenomenal! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
That seaform piece at 7:01 is stunning as are all the chandeliers but I think best of all are the early woven pieces you did. Cheers!
