This is my first time ever writing a comment under your videos but I stumbled on your channel by accident and I liked the way you do your commentary as well as the way you explain your game strategies. I appreciate that you showcase all those cool decks as well!
35:00 The Aragorn + 2 color spells might be a good home for one or two copies of the 5-color Niv-Mizzet - get all of Aragorn's triggers, plus draw a ton of 2-color spells for the following turns
@@senken12 But think of the stories you'll be able to tell when you cast Aragorn on turn three into Omnath+ on turn four! Isn't that worth a few 1-4 leagues?
Re: what decks should Aragorn be in, I think Aragorn here should be thought of as “stapling a 1-mana effect to each spell you play”. Putting it in an Aggro/Tempo shell like Breach has some logic because you’re basically doubling the mana value of all your 1-drops without spending anything besides the initial investment. I think it should go more in a 4-color shell like Omnath, but with 2-drop Gold spells rather than a heavy lands theme. Instead of drawing a card when it enters, it functionally staples a card to all of your other cards for each color they are (the cards being basically Spiritual Visit, Chain to Memory, Lava Spike, and Giant Growth). Using 2-drop gold cards still lets you double your mana value, except now you’re playing with better mana. Turn Lightning helix into a deal 7 gain 3 create a 1/1, turn Expressive iteration into Scry 2 “Draw 2” deal 4, turn Decisive Denial into Scry 2 +4/+4 and either fight or Mana Leak, both Dromoka’s Atarka’s command seem nuts with Aragorn. And these are just some of the great gold cards you get to play.
Would love to see the midrange rebuild in the future, Aragorn seems like a cool card that could see more play but does not have the correct shell right now. I once played in Penny Dreadful against a 4-c brew with Aragorn and Painter's Servant and, let me tell you, that was wild (and sweet).
I think this deck should be similar to how splinter twin operated. Aragorn could be an engine outlet and hard focus a combo kill in game one then you side board out aragorn + dorks for value breach/control as a game 2/3 finisher.
Thought of Leyline of the Guildpact in this deck, but it doesn't add any Aragorn synergy right? Because Aragorn just affects spells on the stack and Leyline doesn't make something all colors until it's resolved and in play? Not that a deck needs more "Hey also %&!#$ Leyline!" synergies in today's format.
Hey, BoshNRoll, on the topic of your discussion of the possible rebuild of the deck into a more Midrange/Control variant, would incorporating a Bring to Light package be an interesting way to take the deck? If you're stretching your mana base into at least 4 colors for Aragorn and also including a collection of good 2 color spells like Expressive Iteration and Lightning Helix and whatnot that you mentioned, it seems like it would at least be worth considering having the option to "Niv to Light" in the deck as well. Whatever way it would end up being built, I'd love to see it get retried sometime!
I wonder if you could still be cute with less Gorning. Maybe 2 of them, drop the basic island and plains, and more or less be the same gruul breach deck, but instead of 4 ragavans and 2 grapeshot, maybe be 2 Gorn, 2 halfling, and a couple Inti or something to smooth out the mana. I think since the deck was built to Gorn, instead of built to breach with gorn as the pseudo "grapshot" finisher, it made the mana way too bad to accommodate. It probably will still end up being too cute, but maybe if your idea is Gruul first, Gorn second, it would get better results than the reverse trophy while still keeping the idea there.

@@BoshNRoll We are glad to have you, just as a reminder.
Welcome!!!! There’s bosh packs over on the side table by the entrance. Smoke em if you got em 😤😤

Me: "Stop saying 'gorn!"
Video 5 seconds later: "The gorning will continue until morale improves"
I’m a child of the gorn
My favorite part of the video is when Aragorm said "IT'S GORNING TIME" and gorned all over those guys
'Gorn becoming a verb is one of my favorite aspects of the video. And perhaps the deck's biggest influence on the format.
Not even through round 1 yet and I already suspect that Aragorn is never going to get cast this league.
The classic bosh brew league where he runs into the mirror but normal lol

I really like Pick Your Poison. Glad to see it see a bunch of sideboard play.
Modal answers are great! As long as they don't hit way too many things. (Like prismatic ending in modern imho lol)
38:54 Why do they have dress down in their kavu deck??? it is absolutely wild out there
Aragorn losing to the mono-black deck with the One Ring is sad.
The strength of men failed :(
As someone with an Aragorn commander deck I can confirm casting expressive iteration with Aragorn in play feels *so* good
Because I opened 3 copies of Aragorn, I've been longing to jam him into a modern deck. But every time I consider it, Omnath just goes in instead.
¿Por qué no los dos?
@@tomb5353 because you can only have so many 4 drops in a modern deck

21:00 Yelling Cursed Totem in SB after playing against Tameshi, but unfortunetly you didn't hear me. =(
Yeay! You saw them in game 3!
It's not about the reverse trophy, but the unreasonable hands we mulligan along the way.

The round 3 deck was the new Domain Murktide list that has been floating around this perfectly fine and good format
Oh Brian, I should be sleeping.
Fuck it, there's always tomorrow.

Was that a Reverse-Trophy AND an Edison Award? OOF.
The Gorning will continue until morale improves, lmao i love it.
Sideboard seems like 9 answers to Urza’s saga, lol

Would love to see an updated midrange-style list get a trial run!
rebuilding this as a Niv to light two color tribal seems like an interesting idea
Aragorn Domain with Layline and Draco seems like it would be cool
5:35 Moar windowz
I follow a LOT of modern and this was the definition of a brewers league. Lol

12:00 why not put jegantha in hand so you can potentially pitch it to force of vigor?
I don't think you can have Jegantha as your companion if you have Force of Vigor in your deck.
@@L_O_V_E_L_A_I_Nlol you’re sure right. i got mixed up seeing the opponent’s jegantha

that deck on match2 looks fun, anybody has decklist?
Google Modern Tameshi and you'll find what you're looking for

Play modern they said...magic is fun they said... "I want to concede to not look at all these open windows" the current state of modern is so sad
Shit's hype
