You are not talking about what the current reseach REALLY says? Do schools that contribute (even lead) the social transistion of a child actually contribute to the 94% likelihood that the child will adopt a trangender path in life? Social transition is the harmless first step of trangender affirming care, it can be as simple as a child changing pronouns and name. This is the starting point - where does this end? The impact of this intervention was reported in Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The article entitled, “Gender Identity 5 Years After Social Transition” was published 13 July 2022. This study started with 319 children, and on average the subjects had already been identifying as transgender for 1.5 years before joining the study. The average age of subjects when they joined the study was 8 years old. The result is simply this: after five years 94% of the children persist and continue to live in their transgender identity. Given their age a large number of the subjects have moved onto medicalization, the use of puberty blocking drugs and then cross sex hormones. The researchers expect the children who have not reached puberty, and continue to identify as transgender, to eventually follow in this medicalization path.

When Stella talked about the cultural and social class background of furries or detransiitoners or AGP's, is someone really interested in stats about this? I have an excel sheet with ethnic and social data of transexuals in the netherlands. Native Dutch people slightly more likely to be transexual than in the average populace. Main difference that stands out there is that transsexuals are married way less than non-transsexuals.
Where did you get the info? Any interesting, surprising or important stats or conconclusions that can be drawn? I think any info on the groups you mention would be interesting/useful for example to help avoid creating detransitioners
@@robertmarshall2502 It's with Dutch headings but you can google the CBS (Central bureau for statistics) report by googling for: "Kenmerken van transseksuelen, 1995-2021" . I think auto translate should get you a long way with the headings.
Ok. So great interview and I appreciate this channel greatly. But be careful what you label as religious extreme. As a Bible believing Christian and therapist I believe in truth and the reality of Satan and he need for salvation from sin of all kinds but do not walk around paranoid or angry- because love and truth are inseparable and true faith in Christ brings joy and purpose. Region is about earning our way to God. Faith in Christ is love, joy and freedom in relation with the living God. ❤
I saw a youtube video about the history of furries and it seemed to be older than you'd think. Also, there is an internal sexual vs non-sexual battle going on there.
I think a lot of gay people are interested in the gender debate because there is a high proportion of gay people who are gender non conforming. So the y have had to think about what it means to be a man or woman. So like Stella they have a genuine fear that children/adolescents like them are being harmed. There is also the history of acceptance of drag/transexual/transvests as a part of a wider gay scene (I think to call this a community is an over simplification so I avoid that term). I don't think terms like transing away the gay is particularly helpful (except maybe when trying to expose the lunacy of the current push to ban "conversion" therapy). We risk not paying enough attention to the huge cohort who fall outside this perspective. I think that everyone brings their own experience bias to this debate but I hope we can all learn to make more conscious efforts to see that this debate as so much more than our personal experience. I'm glad this channel is here to help remind us all to do this.
I am concerned about a trend I've seen in podcasts and twitter accounts devoted to the issue of gender straying onto the topic of race/discrimination. I think you risk having people dismiss the program because they disagree with viewpoints shared about race/discrimination. Why get into an outside divisive topic? I wondered if Professor Reilly was being a little cute when he talked about the number of "unarmed black men shot by police." Off the top of my head I can think of several black men killed unjustly by police who would not fit that description. For example, George Floyd was an unarmed black man, but he was not shot by police. He was suffocated. Philando Castile was armed, but never drew his weapon and was not arguing with or resisting the police who stopped him. Neither would be included in a count of unarmed black men shot by police. There is also all kinds of harrassment that falls far short of a shooting but is definitely discriminatory. Despite my comments here, I very much appreciate your program.
I generally trust his take on things because they align with how I tend to see the world, but I do question some of his blind spots on the right. Like authoritarianism is good in some cases, most notably in the US with how cigarette-smoking was nearly completely snuffed out by laws in the 1990s that everyone said wouldn't work and would be like Prohibition all over again. And most developed countries in the world ban and highly regulate firearms. To pretend that it's "extreme" to limit personal possession of anything is to ignore the success of these bans in other countries, although at this point, I don't think bans would be effective here--although they would have been if they had been introduced in the 1960s, when Ronald Reagan introduced the first gun-control law because he didn't like that the Black Panthers paraded around the California Capitol carrying shotguns.
lots of parallels, for sure. But factor in how people change when they learn the terrible health impacts (i.e. not just sheeple) . Also to be noticed --the tobacco science that's with us still, both in the trans-push and elsewhere!
Thanks for a great episode; Wilfred is hilarious! I don’t mean to be rude, but is there any chance that you could interrupt the guests less Stella? Of course it is your podcast and you can do as you please but i often feel frustrated if a guest is making an interesting point and you cut in before they’re finished.
We understand that moment is confusing! But Wilfred definitely doesn't think the detrans stories are fake. He was probably making the comparison between what the mainstream says and what the evidence shows when you scratch beneath the surface. I guess we'll have to wait for his talk at the Genspect conference to find out more!
I think it's that the mainstream narrative is false. We've all heard the "regret for gender surgery is only 1%" line. I think we can be pretty sure that the people saying that would absolutely have a fit if anyone were to try and make a real modern large scale study to see if they could "replicate" that result.
@@widerlenspod yes I listened a few more times at that moment. He made a quick transition but when he talked about the Reddit page growing rapidly, it made sense.
Lol, you talked about furries... I think we have a poor reputation because the weirdest and most extreme aspects of it tend to get pushed into the spotlight, and the individuals that take it too far and turn it into some kind of bizarre lifestyle are the most vocal and visible. Which isn't any different from other subcultures, including the whole gender thing. For most, it's just a fun hobby that more or less serves as an excuse to get together and make friends while enjoying a particular art style. There is of course the sexual component for many furries, but it's not just about that, and far less fetishize fursuits than you'd think. Attraction to the artwork alone is way more common. The demographics are very interesting though. It's difficult to get completely accurate numbers, but something like 60-70% of furries are homo or bisexual males. As for why... that has perplexed me for years. I have no idea what the connection between male homosexuality and an enjoyment of anthropomorphic animals could possibly be, but it's there. There is also a higher incidence of people on the autism spectrum when compared to the general population. There are lots of folks who work with computers or have other "nerdy" professions which pay well, which gives them enough spare income to commission the artists and fursuit makers to create content for the community to enjoy. Maybe someone out there will eventually unravel the mysteries of why the furry fandom is the way it is.
Awful. Please don’t wade into race issues. Lots of this was offensive and likely to turn off other black supporters and viewers of your wonderful work on gender.
Yes, I agree - and not just black supporters/listeners. If you are concerned about how gender has become part of a package for many people who are (rightly) committed to social justice and/or equality, diversity and inclusion, please don't reinforce this by bringing on commentators who ridicule real concerns and experiences of discrimination, racism etc. What is needed here are thoughtful, nuanced, wise conversations, not ones that further feed polarisation or go for cheap laughs..
I dont know if he really understands the trans issue or transsexualism in general. It seems he has a grip on extremism but it sounds like (he didnt say this) but it sounds like he thinks transexuals or gender dysphoria is not a real thing? I can't tell. I think its important to address the problem of childhood transition and detransition also. Perhaps that is the point of his talk? It seemed like he shrugged off trans people as a whole as crazy or mislead. I couldnt really tell what his point was or what his perspective was. I agree there will be a detrans wave and people have been medicalized too early and some too young. Perhaps that was all there was to get out of this. I think it would have been nice to hear recognition that real trans people do exist, and in some ways the fast moving trans train is hurting us, but that is not his responsibility to mention that even if he thinks that. Thats just my concern. Thanks for the episode! 💜
Hi Jen. I think I agree that he didn't give me the impression that he acknowledged or respected gender identity. I'm less sure about gender dysphoria. As you say we weren't given a clear enough picture to say so exactly. He certainly understands that at least some section of trans ppl are autogynephiles and/or driven by sexual impulses but not sure how common he thinks that is. I don't really think we got any clue for the female trans identifying side for example. I think there was some value in showing how ppl can assume/misunderstand stats, authoritarianism in the left not simply on the right and other ideas about politics. Misrepresentation of "hate crimes" around race for example. But I agree it was difficult for me to discern the connection to trans or the overall takeaway.
@robertmarshall2502 i agree completely. I didn't hear a clear message, he seemed to vent or meander mostly. All good but not clear what his point or perspective was on the trans issues.
Not sure I liked this episode. Some ideas were interesting, but with the way he dismissed all cvid vax risk awareness as easily debunked conspiracy has me questioning his credibility on other matters. Only someone who hasn''t seriously looked into this topic can make such an assertion. Better avoid this comparison in the future if you're not informed about the cvid issue.

oh stop! you know perfectly well it doesn't matter how reporters vote. What you matters is OWNS the media, not who writes the stories. Don't even bother trying to claim that the owning class is "liberal" or "left".
gender is the expression of biology. gender roles can be social. the role playing , (now carrying out a role can be elaborated on by society), but females are designed by nature to bear and care . while males are designed to fk and fight. women give birth , and that entire process informs the behavior and role in society. while males bigger , faster etc etc come to understand the effective use of violence, as they can do it more effectively than females. out of these realities comes gender and gender roles mostly.
To a degree yes. Most people male or otherwise are not inherently violent. Even animals are born with bite inhibition. In circumstances where men need to fight they are built for it. Because we now live in a modern world, particularly the middle classes men are no longer needed for strength based work, ie the heavy lifting in farming or hunting, they are now office worker like women. The social roles as they were are blurred because of socialisation. When it comes to violence it is easier to incite men to it and a small number of men have inherent violence and a smaller number women would too. Women while we do have a biology built for giving birth and "caring" women are not necessarily more caring than men depending on their socialisation, they would be more aware than men and more on top of the social situation than men and this has been interpreted as "caring". Biology is a factor but not a be all and end all. We can neither deny it nor hold it responsible for every aspect of sex and gender
@@RenegadeContext biology is destiny. Male violence against women and children would argue otherwise. A modern world has not changed that. Nor has the male trans with their attempt to assert domination through violence and intimidation in this modern world than. It comes down to the biology. The fact males are designed to carry out violence to a greater more successful extent means they will, presented with the opportunity. The fact women through brain chemicals and biology bear and care means they will be less likely to expose themselves to violence when mothers and seek to care for offspring. Histories graveyards are filled with men who died in war as fighters, not so much women, who fill graveyards as mothers. Humans are domesticated to a degree ...yes. but what makes us beasts is still the basis of what we are. As to not needing the strength ... the need to assert dominance , defense of property and territory , revenge and punishment of transgressors etc are hot wired, and never can be removed. These are the birthrite of living creatures, thus ours also. So as to inhibition why use biting when one has fists and guns. All it takes is a inciting incident for the savage to awaken. We are what nature made us to be.

Think it was Yale, not Harvard. But yeah, he's terrible.
I think auto translate should get you a long way with the headings.
nevertheless, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me to translate.
@@maanvis81 Maybe it's just me but I can't see the previous comment. Did UA-cam delete it?
Ouch. You only see the 2nd one?UA-cam is weird.. I still see both. Let me see if I can reconstruct them
smash the likescribe button and subshare with all your e-friends !
I saw a youtube video about the history of furries and it seemed to be older than you'd think. Also, there is an internal sexual vs non-sexual battle going on there.
Can someone timestamp this episode
I just “smashed” the button! 😅
I agree wholeheartedly with this comment, as this episode made my stomach turn re:race.
Also to be noticed --the tobacco science that's with us still, both in the trans-push and elsewhere!
excellent interview! I love Wilfred- he’s just brilliant! ❤
There are fanatics on all sides.
Wait at 19:49 he says "same thing with detransition..." That most of the detrans stories are fake?
Any such scientific inquiry should start with defining what you mean by “left wing”. Without this, these studies only obfuscate these issues.
Ok this dude is off on his takes. I gotta see his stats references. The covid evidence is valid. I doubt he looked at Bret Weinstiens work on the covid vaccine
He has interesting research on race but doesn’t seem to be familiar with the Detrans issues. I wonder if his talk will be useful.
Thanks for the heads up. I don't think I'll bother with this one. Man who is not a health professional, doesn't have personal experience of the issue, and who was wrong on covid giving us his hot takes on gender/sex/trans madness is something I think I can live without. See you next week lovely Sascha and Stella.
Bret's fallible.
@@Zzyzzyx we all are fallible but Bret & many others are right about the Covid virus & vaccine. Faucci's own emails prove he knew the NHS was funding gain of function research (making dangerous viruses) & that the outbreak happened in the lab.
@@Zzyzzyx He is, particularly when he gets into philosophical musings. But he has a very good understanding of biology and he and his wife can understand, critique and think about the implications of research papers extremely well which is why they have pretty much scored 100% when it's come to covid.
oh stop! you know perfectly well it doesn't matter how reporters vote.
So gender is pretend sexuality?
Please talk to less anoying people. Just too hard to follow his anticsz
Shills.
