- This is Pioneer's AVH-3500NEX car stereo headunit with apple car play and android auto. This is a 7" flip out CD/DVD stereo. Get for cars with single-DIN openings. This car stereo head unit is a rarity nowadays. Alpine, Kenwood and Sony no longer make this style radio. BUT pioneer knocked this radio out of the park with this radio! Really good features by a reliable company.

I had mine installed two weeks ago in my Honda Civ HB '95. I've received many compliments on this car stereo. The technology of this stereo mirrors many similarities to a new car model stereo. So far I'm satisfied.

Does this have MixTrax?
I give it two stars. Mine is installed in a 2006 Ferrari F430. There is so much glare in the day time that the screen is not visible. It will not play DVD's because it says wrong region. I'm in Calif, it came from Germany. What I did, is to install a Amazon Fire 10 HD tablet below the unit and use the 3.5 mm AUX jack as a input. I of course had to modify the Fire table to download the Google Play Store app, so I could get apps like Google Chrome, Google Maps, UA-cam TV, and the VLC player. Now it works great! I'm just using the radio as an output to my car speakers. No more glare, I'm basically using the Fire 10 HD tablet 100%.
what recommandation for 1din flip in 2024 ?
My old avh unit went out and I replaced it with this one looks like I made a awesome choice. I'm having it installed this week can't wait either
OMG..... I've been drooling over this radio since November of last year. I was in the process of purchasing it over a month ago and the price went up an additional $130. Plus the 2 websites (not mentioning their names) were sold out.😫

It's been 2 years almost and I'm still rocking the DMH-1500 NEX from good ol' Pioneer, it may be time for an upgrade/update to my radio. This looks like a great option, I just don't see any use for 'discs'. I will continue my loyalty to Pioneer though. Appreciate these detailed reveiws of latest products, hopefully this supply shock is finally catching up.
U can play DVD's for long road trips, there is a way to by-pass the safety issue

Given that this unit has been out for over two years now (as of mid 2022), how do you find the lack of HD display and capacitive touch screen? Is this still the best Single DIN Apple CarPlay headunit in 2022?
I installed mine in my backup work car (11 Honda pilot) and love it! 1 question. Can you use the cast feature on weblink? When starting weblink I don’t see all the apps like I do on the radio in my F150

I love this stereo. I just recently had it installed on my 2003 Land Rover. I’m also considering putting one on my 1999 SVT Cobra. I just wish the reviewer had touched base on the wireless remote controller, since I am having trouble getting it to work. But maybe it’s just me. I’m barely learning how to use it, since I’ve only had it for 5 days since posting this comment.

I've had this unit for several months now, the earlier model began to have power issues, I believe it's due to heavy vibration, anyhow I'm extremely satisfied with this unit, amazing screen and the Siriusxm works very well

I was in the Same boat. But you already have apple / android carplay which offers alot better maps than pioneer NAV.
Works with your Apple iPhone and Google maps a lot better.

Anyone know how the bluetooth would work if your car hasn’t had it before? Like what do you plug into the Bluetooth port at the back of the unit?
Bluetooth is wireless and built into the unit. As long as your source has it like your iphone, android phone or Digital Audio Player it will connect with it.
Which pioneer navigation add on unit works with the avh3500nex?
How did you get on with finding out what add on works with navigation as other unit models can use the mobile phone to access google maps & the phone i assume syncs with bluetooth to run the installed apple map or google map in the player
can the unit be used with screen retracted..other than when using it for AA maps/waze, [screen up] in my vehicle the ac vents are above the single din slot, so once setup and running I'd like to retract the screen in and enjoy my ac but have the use of the head unit as well..?/ Does this and similar fold out screen units function like this

Would have been nice to see the movement of the screen. You know, since that's the only thing that makes it different form the rest. I need a single DIN but if it takes forever to move then it would be useless for a backup cam unless you leave it open all the time blocking your other controls.
In researching I found that it says it will not work with my 2007 Volvo C70 T5 with Dynaudio System. Do you have anything that will work with this car that has Apple Carplay?
Hey there Mark, yeah unfortunately for a lot of Volvos, finding aftermarket support for them can be super tough to find. A lot of those cars have so many weird parts and panels that many companies who manufacture aftermarket parts just don't create them for that reason. I tried as far as digging deep into forums and couldn't find any sources unfortunately. Your best bet is to get a custom dash done out of fiberglass or abs plastic to fit a radio and hardwire the connections

The safety feature is activated. If your installer wired the parking brake wire up Engage the parking brake.

I really want this to replace my Pioneer 1500NEX (great unit), but it's not a capacitive touchscreen like the 1500NEX. I'd gladly pay more just for that feature.

Looks the same. The model you mentioned is the over seas model and the 3500NEX is the American version

Two quick questions if anyone knows please.
1, where can I get one of these in the UK? I can only find one on amazon for about £1500 absurdly scalped price.
2. I am assuming you can upload Google maps Sat Nav?
Google maps works well using my iPhone via Apple CarPlay, on my Land Rover Discovery 2. The maps are displayed on my Pioneer unit and can be customized to display other apps side by side. I’m in California.

Am I the only one who hates their NEX?? I have a 4660NEX and hate it. Looks amazing but it’s slow responding. Sometimes it doesn’t even go to the car play. It’s been updated also. Any nex experts care to chime in I’m all ears.
You shouldn’t have so many problems with The NEX software. It should be relatively fast. I would call Pioneer Tech and explain the issues you says you’re having. As far as carplay’s concern sometimes it happens not just with the NEX but with other radios with Apple CarPlay. I think it’s a software issue or sometimes a cable issue. I know My CarPlay doesn’t connect sometimes in my cars and normally I have to unplug it and plug it back in and order it for it to connect. I have an alpine one and a stock Chevy in another and it happens in both.

Can't, once it's fully opened to it's limit, that's it
Will this work with 2019 Nissan Altima with no lost features?
Those newer Nissans are tough when I comes to steering wheel controls.

I looked at this in Best Buy. I guess its the model before this one. Wasn't impressed at alllllllll. I bought the pioneer s6620s I believe. Don't have it I front of me. But that radio blows this out of the park time's 10. 30 band EQ, Cross over, EQ , separate Cross over for front and rear, Change the color of the stereo face for incoming calls, change the color ovioulsy of the radio and buttons and screen all different if you want. Can operate the whole radio from you phone if you down load the app. The radio is bad ass for real compared to this. All your paying for is a big screen.

@@valdostube the model # is DEH-S6220BS. I have this stereo connected with a OLD SCHOOL MA AUDIO 2,200 AMP WITH ROCKFORD FOSGATE T1 10'S. ROCKFORD 4 CHANNEL 400 WATTS WITH ALL ROCKFORD FOSGATE SPEAKERS/COMPONENTS. 0GAUGE WIRE ETC, ETC. In my semi. And the stereo is for real bad ass. The subs are wired down to 1ohm.

What do you want them to do to it? Almost every smart phone from '08 to today look the same... that's because it's not much you can do to a simple design. Lol!! There's nothing to this radio.
@@McBurner007 This and other radios still look like a mobile phone from the 2000s. Edgy design, flashy color leds, cheap black reflective plastic. I just want a clean, simple and neutral design. It would totally be possible. Just look at the XAV-AX8000 and compare it to this or other 90s style radios.

You should be able to. You just have to make sure nothing hangs over the top of the radio too far so this radio can flip up all the way
