Well I don't really care about latency. T'is all about playing for a laugh. The only reason I got the PS3 version is cause so many people ask for me to play with them on it. Same for 360, so I plan on organising something like a weekly lobby soon.
I absolutely love the fact that he talks so much in his vidz. He drops free fighting game knowledge, among other things. So appreciate that. Who does that any way ? If you just want " see " gameplay I'm sure you kind find other channels.
You only speak the truth, that is what sets you apart. I like the fact you made reference to the team. I use Spider-Man, and everything you just said made me nod yes. I love the series, thank you for your time!!
A thousand thumbs up Max. Keep the JWong vs yourself vids coming. That guy is so freaking good. This isnt one of his best teams but its a fun one to watch. He's used this team at seasons beatings and at TRB.
At least in this game you have a chance to beat him. In marvel 2, you have no chance in hell of beating him. Marvel 2 takes a lot more skill and thus the gap is that much further.
good shit man. i never saw you play so serious in such a long time. this was an amazing set you have played here with jwong. thanks alot for the video man.
I don't even live stateside and am in agreement with this. You give this community so much Max. I don't think anyone should begrudge you slowing down your channels content to attend other events or even for your personal life. Keep up the great work :-)
More matches from You and Wong? YES! As much as I love classic Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, I enjoy the crazy combo potential in this most of the time. If at all, a friend of mine is trying to main Felicia and this is a good tutorial on how to use her so please post up more. GGs as always Max and what happened to the classic Wesker suit? xD
I appreciate the time and effort it takes to put up these vids Max. I'm amazed at how your able to juggle doing all these things and still keep a good personal life balanced with the load of things you do for your channel and gaming community. Keep up the work, who can replace you! Your one of the best gaming channels with a great sense of humor and great game play.
Hey Max, I think I speak for a select few of us here. I wouldn't mind you putting a few things on the back burner to see you at like, WNF or Starbase arcade. Your a big part of this community, and watching you play at tournies, or commentating would be the coolest thing to me.
max i know you usually dont read or respond to comments but you hit a point i've dealt with in fighting games over the years, and that's staying competitive. i've more or less given up fighting games because honestly none of my friends have an interest anymore, and there are a myriad of things keeping me from the local tourney scene. as depressing as it is, staying competitive is definitely difficult. pointless blog esque post, but im sure im not the only one. passionate about my fighters!
Hell yah more of these would be awesome! (maybe other players too?) Never get enough of that Marvel hype~ Looking forward to hopefully seeing you on all the other fighters out now/soon as well!
youtube booooooo While everyone using fiber optic cable will make things better, it will still not make it perfect. For each switch/router the signal has to pass through comes delay, so long distance connections will stay shit forever.
Oh you damn skippy I wanna see more of you vs players like Justin Wong! =D The two of you had some good matches and I love how JW rocks Spider-Man/Felicia/Iron Fist. That Iron Fist assist is sick. I definitely wanna see JW take this team to a whole new level.
Okay. Seriously Max, you were doing really well against Mister Wong here. It's time for you to accept that you are, in fact, an EXTREMELY good fighting game player. Also, lag online doesn't affect much when I play except for my blocking. I'm a very defensive player, so I end up losing online a ton just because I can't block even the simplest high-low or side-side mix-ups.
Maybe at the next assist me panel you could have a projector set up with UMvC3 and play a few matches with some of the people from the audience. I think that'd be a good idea for raising funds for the show, charge 5-10 dollars to have a first to three match with the fans.
Wow! I guess me and Justin Wong are kind of similar. You give me any character in the game and I will make it look TERRIBLE! Sweet video Max I'd love to see more if you have it.
Is it usual to be better at a game after not playing it for a certain time ? It's like... I can practice for hours per day at sf4, but when i don't play it at all for a couple of weeks or a month or 2 and thenI get back at it later it seems like i've gotten better than I was when I used to practice everyday.
3 weeks late, but sometimes, you need some time to assimilate what you've learned, that is why some people recomend resting after studying for some time.
I think it has a lot to do with how the brain retains and organizes information. Like for instance, if you do a 4-8hour session of just training and tutorial mode on fighting game, say randomly...erm... Tekken 5(ahem...), then you may not notice yourself getting any better, because you're learning and playing at an alarming rate, and what was fun a few hours ago is now becoming tedious and pad snappingly annoying, essentially, because you are cramming shit loads of data and input into your brain with no time or room for everything to be sorted, ordered and processed... This tires your brain out, and fatigue kicks in. It's only when you go to sleep that your brain becomes really busy with the organizing and making sense of everything. So when you come back to it a few months later, your brain now has the records of all that hard work, refreshed, ordered and ready to make available, plus your hands are more fluid, thanks to muscle memory, so the combination of that is what makes you now godlike!!... I miss my days of being godlike, lol...
God damn you have a stellar Strider. Not that I didn't know that before, but... God it's true. And jeez, Wong has dem fundamentals... And I'm seeing some really good safe pokes with Spiderman that I hadn't figured out, damn. Thumbs up yo.
Regarding staying competitive: I have found that my urge to remain competitive comes in waves, and it will change from game to game. Recently I swore off UMVC3 after a super poor performance at a regional. I switched back to AE and picked up a new character, Makoto, this time around. I'm having a great time learning how to play this character and I even took her to a local over this past weekend. I ended up placing 2nd, but I ended up switching to my main in the finals. TL;DR Breaks are good
I bought this game, played maybe 3 hrs. Thennnnnnnn went back to LoL because I already understand it all and have people to play with. But its RARE that I miss when an upload or yours when its UMVC3 because this game looks so cool. and EVERYTIME I see one of these vids I want to go and play it again! ....then I get stomped on repeated, remember why I stopped before and go back to league lol.
yeah i know where u come from max. i dont think ill ever be "good" at these games, but i can't even play these competitively just because real life and other factors get in the way. just keep posting the great matches.
Yep, I think that happens to a lot of us, to try to keep up with guys like Justin, Chris and so many guys we see in evo and some other tourneys, its necessary to invest SO much time in games, time we choose to spend in some other things.
My fucking goodness man me and my friend got together last week and played Marvel and had this same discussion with how the game is so damn different offline and it's so much better. It's hella responsive and we had a damn blast. I usually go to the lab with three yellow bars and that has been my default for training ever since the game came out. Playing offline with a friend kind of reinvented this game for me. I'm glad to know Max had this same experience I thought it was just me.
I do respect your decision to be more cut throat with your characters. The most successful people at fighting games limit how much of the game they allow their opponents to play.
You're damn RIGHT, Max. It's the player who makes the character top tier, the characters don't make themselves top tier without skillful player. That's why J.Wong is my favorite player. :)
honestly im impressed you did as well as you did considering its Justin wong, I mean I guess he was using a free team but still (especial because he likes those characters)
You and Justin in MVC1 or SFThird Strike. You should even see how man times it takes him to recreate the legendary parry moment it the challenge. That would be ool.
FYI neutral teching gets you out of air comand grab set-ups. Even if you tech forward or back, if you see a super flash or expect a normal one, you can just let go of the stick and it'll whiff.
You've got the PS3 version of UMvC3 now? I'd love to enter an open lobby by you. You're one of the reasons I didn't drop this game entirely, and I'd love to fight you, no matter how badly I'd lose. :)
The thing I like about Justin is he never goes for any crazy mixups or highdamage combos but his understanding of the game is so good and his basics are so solid that the most simple tactics in Justins hands become deadly but you can just call that the Wong Factor!
Thank you Justin for telling the world that Iron Fist is not "low tier" and is capable of being a strong character! :') Iron Fist had been (before he becomes mainstream) and will ALWAYS be my favorite Marvel character of all time!
Spiderman was solid for quite sometime in past games. loved his throws and combo potentials. very solid. it is the player not the character in the games that make them great.
His second team is Iron Fist, Storm Akuma. This is completely new and he's still working out the kinks. (Follow him on twitter n stuff), he's said he needs practice with this team).
Your analogy of playing offline is like playing on LAN for other games like First Person Shooters, and trust me, I know EXACTLY how that feels. Play Halo 3 on XBL at high levels = LAG RUINS GAMES, SHOTS NOT CONNECTING RUINS GAMES! Play Halo 3 on LAN = All Smiles =)
Sweet Justin is playing Spider-man! I've been trying to learn the character for awhile. Xero is really good with him and I have to give credit to Mame Spider. Having Justin play him will just make me better. Hey Justin how about some Spider-man, Wolverine, Captain America combos.
what he's specifically saying is that Justin Wong is ussually in some part responsible for these characters being top tier, he homes in on characters that have crazy stuff and finds said stuff amazingly well.
i guess a mix-up would be when you don't know which way to block. like when someone teleports and uses a beam at the same time you wouldnt really know which way to block you would have to make a guess. or when an incoming character is about to come in and at the last second you dash under and attack is another mix up
Justin playing Spidey? That's wicked. He's got sone cool setups but I think he could learn some of the extended Spidey combos with Web Throws and Kara cancelled Spider Stings and the like. He should check out players like Xero and Airbourne.
I haven't played Marvel in a while, I think I'll go shake the rust off. Just gonna start light... maybe get bodied by Justin Wong, see how it goes.
lol
Eric Cassidy XD
I wouldn't exactly call having some decent matches and even winning one or two "bodied".
Well I don't really care about latency. T'is all about playing for a laugh. The only reason I got the PS3 version is cause so many people ask for me to play with them on it. Same for 360, so I plan on organising something like a weekly lobby soon.
Nice stuff Max, even with the whole latency thing making matches less "real", I'd say you both played really well.
Wow 8 years time really flies surprised there isn’t more replies like your vids man keep it up
I absolutely love the fact that he talks so much in his vidz. He drops free fighting game knowledge, among other things. So appreciate that. Who does that any way ? If you just want " see " gameplay I'm sure you kind find other channels.
That Strider comeback was amazing. Nicely done dood.
lol yeah, it's basically his best character. He's done that so many times. XD
Ill definitely try to use all sorts of other characters, 4 years later, still using same 3
Hey ! He doesn't use Wesker anymore ! It's Dante/Deadpool now ! :D
Max, i've been watching you since i was a little virgin... it's 3 days later and i'm still watching.
Insta EYYYYYY LOL
i blame the lag when i lose because it makes me feel good
Lmaooooo
You only speak the truth, that is what sets you apart. I like the fact you made reference to the team. I use Spider-Man, and everything you just said made me nod yes. I love the series, thank you for your time!!
I only bought the PS3 version of the game yesterday too...
Oh yeah, the Iron Fist years, I remember those! Good times.
Not really. I'm only 5 hours ahead of you guys.
Thanks Max. Really enjoyed this video... kept me entertained through a rainy walk. :)
Thank you so much, Max. I love your UMVC3 videos. :)
good shit man. i never saw you play so serious in such a long time. this was an amazing set you have played here with jwong. thanks alot for the video man.
as always Justin Wong being an awesome player too, thanks for share this video with us Max!
I don't even live stateside and am in agreement with this. You give this community so much Max. I don't think anyone should begrudge you slowing down your channels content to attend other events or even for your personal life. Keep up the great work :-)
More matches from You and Wong? YES!

If at all, a friend of mine is trying to main Felicia and this is a good tutorial on how to use her so please post up more. GGs as always Max and what happened to the classic Wesker suit? xD
Damn, Max, I'm just as surprised as you are at how many games you were able to take! Looking forward to seeing more.
Nice to see you comeback to umvc3 max! Keep up the good work man! :D

Looking forward to hopefully seeing you on all the other fighters out now/soon as well!
Whoa now this is a treat. thanks for the upload
That was great! More please! Would love to have some of Justin's commentary as well.
I learned a few things from this video already! Thanks to both of you. Keep up the good work.
You actually did really well fighting Justin Wong. I always enjoying watching your videos Max.
Well this was a breath of fresh air. =0 Very nice gameplay Max. Hope to see you at WNF someday!
Dude, this is excellent. Want MOAR.
I've missed your UMvC3 videos!
Please upload more incredible battles with Justin Wong! This was amazing
Yes more of you and top players hashin it out. Thanks for the vids.
Yes! Definitely more matches with you vs. Justin Wong! Love watching his Spider-Man tech!
until everyone in the world uses fiber optic cable we will always have lag because of distances
the odd moment when you read a comment that you agree with and realize it was yours from long ago.
youtube booooooo While everyone using fiber optic cable will make things better, it will still not make it perfect. For each switch/router the signal has to pass through comes delay, so long distance connections will stay shit forever.
youtube booooooo HAHAHA
youtube booooooo LOL
+mesterkatn Quantum Teleportation might be the key to laggless connections tho im predicting at least 50 years for such tech to be widely available
Please make more fight videos with Justin. I appreciated every second of this video.
Great video! Love these things.
Nice job, Max! Considering you were up against Jwong, I think you did pretty damn well.
This is what I've been waiting for
Max, you refuse you let me sleep. From YoVideoGames to Miles923, I've been watching UMvC3 and RE6 all day.
awesome stuff as always
glad you're on ps3!!! will you be getting SCV as well? i have a bunch of custom characters i'd like to show off.
Finally some Marvel 3 what I subscribed to Max for
Okay. Seriously Max, you were doing really well against Mister Wong here. It's time for you to accept that you are, in fact, an EXTREMELY good fighting game player.

This could've been video only or audio only and I still would've liked it. Great upload
Its awesome that your back on Marvel again. Are you going back to TTT2 and Persona 4 Arena soon? Please answer.
This is frikkin awesome!
Can't wait to see more :D
Maybe at the next assist me panel you could have a projector set up with UMvC3 and play a few matches with some of the people from the audience. I think that'd be a good idea for raising funds for the show, charge 5-10 dollars to have a first to three match with the fans.
definitely let us know if you're gonna do ps3 lobbies or if we can add you to our lists to get games in and learn more
Wow! I guess me and Justin Wong are kind of similar. You give me any character in the game and I will make it look TERRIBLE!
Sweet video Max I'd love to see more if you have it.
Keep up the good work max!!

Same thing with me

I will now be keeping an eye out for your Open lobbies on PS3, Max.
Those were some really great matches! Tournament-type gameplay!
Wait i was here "?st" cool my chance to be that guy nice video by the way max getting back to what we love MHAVEL!!!
max, how do you feel about family fun arcade closing ? i know you've said that you've played there quiet a bit.
yeah i know where u come from max. i dont think ill ever be "good" at these games, but i can't even play these competitively just because real life and other factors get in the way. just keep posting the great matches.
would love to hear some commentary from justin if at all possible

Thank you Justin for telling the world that Iron Fist is not "low tier" and is capable of being a strong character! :')
Iron Fist had been (before he becomes mainstream) and will ALWAYS be my favorite Marvel character of all time!
FINALLY MORE UMVC!
Max, why don't you join EVO? You're going toe-to-toe with one of the best players in the FGC, alternate team or not. You are amazing at these games.
I pre ordered the deluxe edition for MVCI for 10 extra costumes,6 extra characters,6 real life infinity stones,4 character statues
So sad to read this comment, now that MVCI is dead.
Yeah, do some PS3 lobbies, I kinda want to have a rematch with you to make up for the set we had in SFxT
Spiderman was solid for quite sometime in past games. loved his throws and combo potentials. very solid. it is the player not the character in the games that make them great.
I'd love to see some matches between you and Kagato if you could deal with the lag from halfway across the world.
His second team is Iron Fist, Storm Akuma.
This is completely new and he's still working out the kinks.
(Follow him on twitter n stuff), he's said he needs practice with this team).

I wonder if they'll make this backward compatible
I hope so
No because of CR reasons. Trust me I'm sick of using a Cronus Plus to use my X1 stick for this game.
Michael Gordon probably not because the licensing of the marvel characters expired and now you can't buy the game anymore
Yeah I thought it may be because of that, it's a great game nonetheless.
so i guess you must be happy now
Yo max did you ever try out for the football team, or any sport?
Justin playing Spidey? That's wicked. He's got sone cool setups but I think he could learn some of the extended Spidey combos with Web Throws and Kara cancelled Spider Stings and the like. He should check out players like Xero and Airbourne.
So Max how do you balance life and work? - Shock Faukerman
What do you mean you haven't played in a while? Your strider is even better than before. GGs
