The golden age of entertainment, in my personal opinion. While perhaps a bit harsh, I find most of the music and movies today to be insufferable garbage. I'm so grateful for UA-cam to be able to see old movies, watch old TV shows, and listen to old music. There is so much great material available. How do you feel about entertainment today, Jerrie?
Same age here. This clip is from movie The Girl Can't Help It. Jayne Mansfield was in this movie. Along with Edmund O Brien and Tom Ewell. The last 20 or so years have been worthless as for movies.
I'm 74, was born in time to hear her sing that song on the radio when I was a kid. I'm fortunate enough to still hear pretty well and to hear her sing it now. I listen often to hear her and other versions.
Such an ethereal quality to her voice. Sultry, sensual, seductive, smoky, sexy.... And that's just some of the S words used to describe her singing, let alone the rest of the alphabet. The bass and guitar add to the beauty of the song. Those chords are mint. I'm glad they didn't do a full orchestra; less is, sometimes, more.
Your sister has good taste and I consider her an old soul. Check out Chet Baker, Peggy Lee, Kenny Rankin, Michael Franks, Danny O'keefe, Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks.
@@RichardJansen-j6q oh my god i love peggy lee chet baker and michael franks, i have tiger in the rain on cd and i want funny valentine on vinyl so bad. i will check out the others tho thank you!!
I truly love Julie London. Her voice is like spreading butter on bread. I did not know much about her until I bought an old 78 rpm Record of this song🥹❤️
The fact that i never lived in those years and even in that country but i still feel deeply nostalgic when i watch this music video. I just love her, really elegant.
There are a few musicians understanding the message of old musics and make them even better than the originals sometimes. Listen to the version of this song sung by Patti Austin on her album "The real me". But the Julie London origin is out of judging of course. Funny that I've seen this Video for the first time now although I know the song for more than 30 years.
I first came across both her and Bobby in Emergency. Her voice then was so raspy I couldn’t imagine her singing. I knew she was a smoker and sadly she was a heavy one: started at 16 and smoked three packs a day. Such a gorgeous voice. Sadly cigarettes destroyed it. Don’t smoke.

My aunt told me to check out Julie London. My aunt is 80 and spry as can be. I'd never heard of Julie London before. Then I listened to this song and I knew I had heard it before, I just don't know when or where. I'm assuming it's a childhood memory that suddenly sprung to life when I listened to this song. I was born in late 60's. Anyway, I'm a fan. She was amazing!
It's from the movie 'The Girl Can't Help It' (1956) starring Jayne Mansfield and Tom Ewell, who played opposite Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch. The movie can be seen in its entirety on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/soxN55f7fzU/v-deo.html
That's a clever rendition of this great old standard. I've been watching old What's my Line shows and Julie London appeared, so I looked her up here in UA-cam. She was born in Santa Rosa north of San Francisco, so that makes her even more intriguing.
This highly fantastic movie is brilliant and beautiful and highly advanced for its day, this early music video can be used on its own taken from the movie Seven Year Itch 1956, I am proud to be the same age as the movie I was born when this movie was released. 🎬🎼👍
Does anyone know if there were two different versions of this filmed, because this is not the version I remember. In the one I remember at the end he is looking up the stairs and she is leaning over the bannister, and then she disappears into the bathroom (cue echo).
A 1080p version will be coming soon.

Julie's song was also used in the movie V For Vendetta.
My mother (now deceased) introduced this to me over 40 years ago. She adored it and so do I, and as for Julie London, there are no words.
Absolutely
Yeah
A great song. I remember it from childhood. I first heard it on a crackly 78rpm on my Grandparents' portable 'Gramaphone'. I never tire of hearing it.

Not just the costumes, but the whole scene with the interiors is so wonderful! It all matches so well. Brilliant scene composition.

I remember Julie London in the show Emergency and I never put it together that she was the same one who sung this awesome song. What a voice she had.
Yes...and her second husband(Bobby Troup)played the piano for her.
Married to Jack Webb from Dragnet❤

Circa #1:15 is the last time she's shown translucent here!
Would have loved to have heard this as a duet with Matt Monro.
