Oliver Anderson Which country were you in? Cause I was in H.S in toronto, I remember it 1st became popular in 08-09, when people started jerking. The 2011-2012 school yr was when the snap backs became popular.

I wore them as slippers when I lived up North. They worked well to run out and get the mail or roll out the trash can in the snow. They are not flattering on anyone tho. They give everyone cankles.
Although 90s kids will always say 2000s generation sucked, it was still my childhood and I will cherish it dearly...even if we did have some pretty bad trends...
Emma Thinking of it, it's true that 2000's clothes were more colorful than now. Pink, Teal and Blue were very popular colors. Now it's all about muted colors just like in the 90's
The 90’s have been in since 2012 I think. This whole decade’s been about the 90’s revival and apparently now they’re trying to bring the 2000’s back. I agree btw, colors in fashion lately have been very muted and I liked it for a while but now I just think it’s too somber, I definitely miss the bright colors of the 2000’s too. I’m not a big fan of most 90’s fashion but I actually really like the late 90’s trends like sheer mesh and others that I can’t name right now. I think the time we’re in right now is almost mirroring 1998 (I just get that feeling) but obviously not as iconic. It’s probaly cause we’re close to the 2020’s and we’re preparing to close out this decade and the trends this past year have reflected the late 90’s so it all makes sense. One thing I can’t stop wondering is if they’re trying to bring back the 2000’s for the 2020’s I wonder what they’ll do in the 2030’s. I mean what other decade can they revive after the 2000’s which in and of itself was inspired by previous decades?
Kat X Too bad the 90s music can't come back. It's too much EDM and trap music now. Well they did try bringing back one of the worst 90s music trends... boy bands. Ugh. Even then I will take Nsync and BSB over One Direction any day of the week. At least they are guilty pleasures. 1D will never be guilty pleasures because I was graduating high school when they were popular. At least the other ones take me back to childhood.

That's how every (insert decade) kid is about the next (insert decade) group of kids. I loved the 2000s and proud I got to be a kid during that decade. I don't mind being a teen during the 80s though.

OTHERS: handkerchiefs around the neck (2006-2007), Airbrushed tees (2004-5), oversized white long tees, stud earrings, dogtag military chains, wife beaters, phat farm shoes, pencil thin ties, emo style (green day circa American idiot 2004-5 era), hoodies, trucker hats, little miss sunshine tops, mesh plastic flats, kanye shutter shades and nerd shades (2007-2009). Also: Auto-tune and cornrows.

Northface jackets and those big jackets with nascar numbers on them with namebrands like oreos and m&ms. I love those jackets but they were expensive. I remember the black teenage guys use to wear snowman shirts but it got banned for some reason but idk why though. Echo clothes, south pole clothes or birdman shoes. That was around 2007-2011.

I won't lie, the only 2000s clothing trends I thought were neat was earyl "skater chic" (Pretty much 2002 style Avril to Lindsay Lohan's character in Freaky Friday), highlight hair, and Halter tops lol
I also thought crop tops with low-waist jeans looked okay if done right (usually it wasn't lol).

omg. i remember going to high school in a tight pink abercrombie hoodie, a cutoff denim mini skirt, and matching pink ugg boots. and i wore heavy black eyeliner and my hair had to be completely straight. and the multicolor monogram louis vuitton bag. and a flip phone bedazzled with rhinestones. i thought i was so cool. haha.

Adam Sandler is an example of that. I wouldn't wear clothes as baggy as him. Most wouldn't call his style fashion, but to me. Fashion is what you make it, like it is about expressing your individuality. Adam Sandler is confident in how he dresses. And that's something I respect about him
I live in Nothern Sweden, 1 hour drive from the arctic circle, please let me wear my uggs without shame.
Ummmmm they are extremely in, and I think the are cute and super comfortable and warm.
I also live in Sweden, tho thankfully not so north... anyway, imo uggs are ugly, but I don't see them as being out of fashion. Also, wear whatever the f*ck you like and makes you happy. Sometimes I wear comfy tracksuits outside (I'm sure many people hate that) and idgaf.

Lol. I live in the Seqoiua National Forest In The Sierra Nevada Mountains, Ca. Uggs are quite popular here too. You wear them or you suffer. It's to damn cold at night and early morning not to sport them. It's a trend I won't be giving up to soon unless I want frostbite.
I live in a Colorado mountain town and we wear Sorels, good to about 35 below zero Fahrenheit, depending on the style, and much better suited to mountain terrain than Uggs. Uggs are great inside at home, if your floors are cold, though!

This is embarrassing because I remember over in middle school I bedazzled my clothes so much. Everyone thought I was so cool😂😂 They were like "DUUUUUUUDE you need to bedazzle my clothes toooooo!!!" But I still wear uggs with leggings...God I'm real embarrassed. They never kept you warm but I sure as hell thought I looked cool.😂😂😂 My mom was like "GIIIIIRRLLLLL YOU ARE LOOOKING SOOOOO CUTTTTTE!!!"😂 probably said that so I would feel better. And In highschool OH GOD, I spray tanned myself and then put white eyeshadow on and teased my hair😭😭as you can imagine my school pictures looked awful. And I had tons of Crocs.

I think the people who started the trend outgrew they but they're still popular with the teenagers. Actually, a couple of days ago I was in my local mall and saw a pack of teenagers wearing vs pink tops, leggings, and uggs with their iPhones in hand (and at least one token Michael Kors bag).
Apparently they were in style because people bought and wore them. They still do.

My 'phase' days were between 2007-2013.
I have grown up a lot in the last four years, been in college and I am on my way to vet school next spring.
My sister was born in 1990 and so she went through all of those fashion trends above, as did most of my cousins lol
These trends lasted a long time though, easily into the early 2010s... I wore cargo pants, tons of bracelets, vans shoes, but once I turned 15 it was all about converse, jeans, t-shirts, and hoodies.

Marcy C mine have never seen snow, there out door foot wear September to the first snow fall then I wear them around work and home like slippers.
not to mention Ugg does make slippers that will run you about as much as the booties.

Me! I live at 9,000 feet elevation, in a cold climate. On the coldest days, floors can get chilly! Shearling is a great insulator and allows me to keep the heat turned down a bit lower, *saving* money over time. And, unlike cheap synthetic slippers, they are breathable; who wants sweaty feet?
Buying cheap items isn’t always a wise financial decision. Something well made, using quality materials, will often outlast - and almost *always* will outperform - their cheap counterparts. How best to save money? Buy the best quality you can afford, but buy LESS, and take very good care of things to make them last, repairing when necessary.
My warmer weather house shoes are traditional Birkenstocks, also quite expensive. Mine are 12 years old (still in great shape, despite daily wear) and when they begin to wear out, they can be refurbished by the company to last several more years. I’d say that’s *excellent* value! And buying *one* durable item, rather than several cheap ones over that same time period, is much better for the environment.

Anyone else remember when durags were the hottest thing going in the early 00’s? 50 Cent with a durag in pretty much everyone of his videos. Eminem with one on too.
Nelly wearing them in tons of his early videos too. Also going to the mall and seeing tons of people with durags on their heads. Didn’t matter if the cape was out or not.
You could find them not just at beauty stores but dollar stores and pharmacies had them too.
But back then lots of people didn’t matter who. Wore them, I remember lots of people having durags in different colors, to match their outfits. I really liked the Two Tone ones.
Watching any hip hop, pop, rock, music video or movie where the scenes take place in a high school, you’re bound to see someone in the background with a durag on. Being jealous that they get to wear durags to school but you cannot.
It seems the really cheap ones that are still out there. That you can still find at dollar stores have extremely short tails. I’m still trying to find the exact brand of a few I had as a kid.
But everyone only really sells the velvet ones for like $30 these days...

The 2000's were good years, back when we had the nokias, we didn't depend too much on a smartphones. and from 2007; that's when things were changing. not as good as 90's tho. The perfect decade in my opinion, all the music and trends were on point

I was a kid at the time. I wore tinted rimless sunglasses with a crystal heart on the edge of one lens. I wore happy bunny t-shirts, had thirty stupid tiny purses. had those scarf belt things. wore skorts, and bedazzled hats and bandannas, and hand gloves. It's so funny to remember all this now because fashion is way less flashy now.

In my unpopular opinion, I personally loved the 2000’s era for fashion. Juicy Couture tracksuits are honestly really cute, and they DID look sexy

I wore Uggs when they first came out (with denim mini skirts) and was poked at for wearing them. A year later, every girl was wearing them. Wouldn’t be caught dead in them now.
In third grade, all I wanted was a pair of uggs .... and I never got a pair. So this video made me feel better about that 😭💀

I was rocking a red halter neck top with denim shorts 2 summers in a row. I was a big fan of the low rise jeans, but growing up in a cold climate, crop tops just didn’t make it into my closet although I loved them. I got plenty of crop tops now that I moved to a warmer climate, but I wear them with regular or high rise jeans/shorts/skirts.
Thanks this helped a course I'm working on. It's incredible how Friends inspired so many fashion movements considering how deliberately inoffensive and 90's Normcore the look was. And I like Friends. Pb
