- Paramount's Knuckles Series is finally here! And though I had all sorts of issues actually watching the damn thing, and all sorts of misinformation on the facts to the side, I've now finally watched all 3 hours of Knuckles side adventure and it is.... awful. Being an unmixing mess of the high heights of the Sonic Movies, with an unapologetic overtone of just.. TV Paramount.. cringe. If you're interested in CGI shots of a Sonic character, lower your expectations. If you want to see adults acting like children with only one personality traits to their names, you're in luck! And if you hope to see any kind of growth and development from our protagonist character... prepare yourself, cause the real protagonist isn't who you think. A bump in the road for what was before, a really stellar Sonic adaptation franchise. And proof that Paramount really doesn't respect it's audience. Because though I hate to admit it, The Knuckles Series Is Kinda TERRIBLE...

Knuckles was great when he was on screen.
Facts dude, Wade had some pretty funny moments like at the lodge where the agent was on the phone with his mom, it felt unnatural but I didn’t care it was a good bit.
Some part got me cringe, but i still enjoy it 😁

Honestly I feel you guys, I was expecting Knuckles to be developed but then he gets dropped halfway and instead we deal with Wade and his family issues over bowling.
This could have been better (I hope season 2 will do this) as a world hopping adventure to Mobius and familiar game locations with appearances of the Chaotix Team, the chaos and Tikal, the buyer, the agents Wilhougney and Mason and the buyer going after Knuckles and Mason, The buyer turning out to be Chaos in disguise and has no connection to Robotnik and he made himself like a human cause he was mesmerized by his crazy intelligence and Tikal turns the two agents into a giant human sized mobian turtle and panda by feeding them a drink called mobian graft (sonic version of Ood graft) in the style of Mr Halpen's transformation into an ood.
I say the reason why it disappointed sonic fans because everyone expected to have Knuckles focus story character development arc like more backstory to master emerald his relationship to echidnas and tikal and his tibe have it lead to Sonic 3 movie.
But instead we got a forgettable side character make it unrelated to sonic movies boring family drama with Wade and bowling plot how many Scenarios we have involved with bowling.
I say you don't bait and switch fans can't market as Knuckles focus story then you do human story instead. It had potential but sadly wasn't well executed. I hope Sonic 3 is decent.
I kinda disagree. We all wanted knuckles no debate there. But wade and his family weren't bad. They highlighted similarities between them and knuckles as well. And throughout this show it did a fine job turning wade an annoying wimpy cop to an actual respectable person who has accomplished a lot of things internally and externally.
And the trailers and promotions didn't really bait the audience. Was it misleading in ways? Yes. But was it lying? No. The trailers emphasized how knuckles was going to turn wade into a warrior, and throughout the trailers bowling has been shown numerous time so it was obviously going to be a part of the plot.
I'm scared for sonic movie 3 and if it's gonna be full of human characters instead of shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic. I would rather see more Tom and Maddie then some random humans characters.
I just hope they don't overshadow the main character.

I hated Wade’s sister cuz she LITERALLY stabbed her brother and their mother DID NOT react to that. There was not even a scene where she felt remorse and didn’t bother apologize to Wade. I know they’re adults but if you’re a mother, would you really let your kids do violence towards each other even when they’re adults?
The writers must have been very focused on the Jewish culture aspect but couldn't be bothered to make the family act like real life families, y'know?

I remember people hating on Chris from Sonic X but Wade is so much worse. Hes never really funny or relatable just pathetic, its almost like Chief Wiggum if he was just a cop instead of police chief.

I honestly don't think it's terrible, just not very good. There is a lot I like and a lot I don't like, it's just above average.
The worst part of my experience was having to watch about 6 minutes of ads per episode on Paramount+, including a repeating ad of the CGI Dora show (which was nightmare fuel).

I just think of this show as: Wade the Warrior
Because Knuckles is not even the sole focus like it was heavily implied.
Extremely disappointed.
I thought the series would go into detail on Knuckles origin and what his tribe was like as he helped Wade become a stronger cop through the information he's telling him, while in turn Wade helps Knuckles adjust to his new life on Earth.

This show was very mid. Episodes 1 and 2 were great,funny, and visually awesome since Knuckles was in it quite a bit. By Ep 3, it went downhill. The ending was also very boring. As a fan of the Sonic movie franchise, I was a bit let down.

While I would have preferred knuckles to be center focused. It isnt a horrible thing that wade is more center focused than knuckles. Yes it wad misleading as its called the knuckles show and the trailer showed a lot of knuckles. But the trailer did also tell us how wade was going to be trained by knuckles or how in the trailer it showed multiple scenes of bowling making it obvious that bowling is important to the story. Personally speaking this show was great. The development of wade is appreciated as he was originally a character I couldn't stand in both movies and now he's become a respectable character that accomplished a lot internally and externally with his time with knuckles

I am up to Episode 4 and I liked what I watched but what a missed opportunity. I liked wade on episode 1 but by the 2nd episode he got annoying. Hell my favourite characters from this include Wades damn mum. She is far better than one of the main characters. Wanda however is my 13th reason why.

@@rubberbandba11craft Not cannon in the Sonic film continuity until he appears in it, hell Iblis technically isn't even cannon either. Just a demon that looks like him and is related a an ability Knuckles has called the Flames of Disaster that he used to defeat said demon.
That being said, if they do get around to adapting Mehpi and Iblis(in full), I'd be interested how Knuckles gets tied to that.
The weird thing about Knuckles fighting the demon character is his name is “Iblis” and it’s the strongest character in the Sonic Universe, it exists in the past present and future all at the same time to where Super Sonic, Shadow & Silver were the only people able to defeat it in all different times, Wade Wipple is the worst character in the Sonic movie universe, every joke fell flat and when he was doing those soy faces it was really bad, supposedly the show was made from people that did not work on the Sonic 1/2 movie, I hope Shadow’s character is not bad like his personality is now just edgy all the time

This shit sucked! Why would Knuckles get a vision to train a human in the way of the Echidna. Theres also some weird edits. I watched it with my son and could maybe say it was so bad it was good, but I can't see watching this again.
Why was Knuckles chilling in a hotel room while his friend was "fighting" in this tournament that was very important to hik and his development? Why did we not see any resolution to them getting home and Knuckles getting in trouble for running away on an adventure when he was grounded?

Ok I don't blame them for having so many sponsors. Just imagine how much money they will have to spend for sonic 3. They wanted this show to look good, so they got enough sponsors to pay for it, and save enough for the next movie. I have been studying business math and it doesn't surprise me at all they had to do so much sponsorship.
This show highlights that the movies really were just an Alvin and the Chipmunks clone that got VERY lucky. The films turned out pretty good but the lazier Paramount get, the more obvious the similarities are going to be.
They capitilized on the "Rachel's Wedding" scene.

The thing no one is talking about that made me enraged is the fact that they chose Pretty Woman as the movie Knuckles and Wade's mom would watch together. 😁 There is something she said about people being judgmental, so I thought it was supposed to be a remark that's connected to later events in the series, but nothing like that ever comes up again, which makes me think it was only a comment about that specific situation in the movie, which would make it just.... weird.
(I don't think there's anything wrong with that type of work done voluntarily, and as strange as it is to have to think about it, I don't think any of the good Sonic characters would judge a "street walker", I just don't think this issue fits with the audience the previous Sonic movies were unfortunately marketed for, and the themes of the series or the franchise in general.)

I just finished watching the Knuckles Series and honestly it would have been better as a Movie but I Enjoyed it for the Most Part, sure Wade was the Main Focus but I knew that it would have been expensive to make a CGI Character the Main Focus in a Series but I have Fun and there’s surprisingly a lot of Sonic Easter Egg with Ivo Robotnik, the Flames of Disaster, and Shadow, IGN was right to put it a 8 out of 10, I will admit that in the Future of this Cinematic Universe there how to limit the Human Cast and focus on the Real Stars but because this is a Start I give it a Pass for Now and who knows maybe putting humor is to balance out the Sonic 3 Movie to be Serious, but we’ll See, also I hate Wanda in this Series.
Imagine making a Knuckles series but it's hardly about Knuckles at all. Wade is so unbearably cringe, as are most of the characters and humor. Like, wow, this is bad.
I was sold on the first 2 episodes, but by 3 when it started focusing more on Wade, that's when I really lost faith. Shame too. If it had just stuck to the tone of the first 2 episodes, I i would've been ok with it. But... It unfortunately suffered what many live action animated movies do, focusing more on the humans and their boring stories. Which is something that they didn't even do much of in the previous 2 movies. Why go backwards?!
This whole series could have been overall passable if it was cut down to about 2 hours and make it a steaming film instead.

Not a big mistake, but I find it funny how Daz says the Dad is clearly not British, even though the character is played by Cary Elwes, who is an English actor. Admittedly, his accent has become very Americanized from living and working in the US for most of his life (he went to the US when he was around 20 years old).

I'm a fan of Sonic, but also the movies. And this show was insulting. Figures when Paramount Plus, the lowest awful streaming service, who made Halo, couldn't even fund or care enough to make a good Knuckles show or have him more in it.
Gonna have to disagree. I love this series. The animation's as good as the movies, idris Elba's Knuckles is alwaysa win, and his and Wade's dynamic is hilarious. Sure, more of the focus is on Wade, but I get that the cgi is expensive, especially for tv compared to movies. Plus I like that they're fleshing out the world's side characters, it makes them actually interesting. As for the product placement, I just don't pay attention to that stuff, so it doesn't bother me.

Watching this alongside Fallput was certainly an interesting combo of two video game adaptions doing very different things. I had fun with the cartoony nature of show just hope they got some of the zanyiness out of their system for third movie
I honestly thought the story was gonna be Wade and Knuckles trading their experiences and learning from one another. Wade learns to be stronger, confident and a leader, while Knuckles learns about Earth, how to coexist/finding a home, and family/respect.
That... kinda happened. Yet it was Wade learning, while Knuckles had a random lightbulb moment.
And of course, learning Knuckles full backstory, the tribe, the master emerald, maybe learn about Chaos. But no, we got technically a Sonic 06 reference given to Knuckles, and an Iblis/Chaos monster baby that is on Facebook. Ugh.
I found myself really liking episode 5. Near the ending, Knuckles was not only shown to be very happy and comfortable with Earth's customs and culture, but he has grown to liking Wade. Even calling him his friend in the end. Which if you know his history by now, it kinda hurts knowing he was gullible to trust Robotnik and is trusting Wade to a trap unaware of--

I find this title ironic, given this series has a higher score on IMDb than either of the Sonic movies

0:03 this scene was so confusing to me, he got STABBED, Wanda DISLOCATED her thumb and yet they’re both fine.
The fight scenes are really cool (not the ones with Wade EXCEPT for the final fight, when Knuckles gets the Flames of Destruction, the throwing balls part was stupid, The Buyer literally grabbed Knuckles in like 3 seconds but he lets Wade throw like 15 bowling balls) so overall 6/10.

I don’t know how to feel about it. Episodes 1-3 were fine to me. I don’t mind if it was a healthy balance of humans & Knuckles. Hell, the saving Knuckles dream sequence and jam session was enjoyable to watch. Even in episode 3, like you said, it was cool to see Knuckles learn about Earth customs and cultures. That would’ve been very on brand for a character like him, but my God… the last three episodes…
It’s not crazy to expect the titular character, the character that is literally the name of the show, to show up. It felt like he was getting shafted out of his own show, especially during the final battle where we don’t even focus on Knuckles’ big fight, but instead, WADE’S BOWLING TOURNEY.
I don’t mind the humans. I liked Jessie and Jam- I mean, the rogue GUN agents, Maddie, Wade’s mom, and even Wade himself. I enjoy them. I do mind when they take center stage in a show that was meant to be about a 3-foot-3, anthropomorphic, Caribbean, red Echidna.
As just a regular show, it’s… alright. It’s just fine.
As a SONIC (Knuckles) show? It’s really bad.

THANK YOU for talking about the music cause holee, that's one of the things that bothered me so much. The franchise has some solid music and their dedication to acknowledge basically none of it sucks.

The idea for a knuckles series is a good idea, but the story was just pointless and like I said before the only problem with the sonic movies is the human characters we need to see less of these characters and more of sonic and his friends. This series could have had a good story. This would have been the best opportunity to introduce Rogue the bat and have her try to steal the master emerald from knuckles. That would have been a great series right there, but nope, they had to Hollywood this series

I agree with your points, BUT I did want to point out how 33:07 made sense to me:
If you recall, Knuckles was helping him speak with his father to try and get him to sound tough, or at least gain his father's respect. It stands to reason that he was so nervous about hanging out with his dad at his penthouse, that he asked Knuckles to do the same thing, to make sure he didn't fuck it up, and make himself look bad or whatever. I don't think either of them knew what was about to happen ahead of time.
You keep saying that the knuckles series is way different than the sonic movies but I honestly think they’re written the exact same way,shameless product placement,human characters,movie references,literally that’s what the sonic movies do they are one to one the same

huge focuse on human characters that no one cares about,
lack of elements and story elements from the games(though the sequel did improve on that)
and of course zero music from the games you have acces to some of the best music in gaming history but they have zero intererest in using it if you think its because general audience wouldn't care for that music then your extreamly out of touch.
Why, in a live-action series about a cartoon echidna, are the humans the unbelievable caricatures?
They used Wade way too much and really hammed up his stupidity/uselessness.
I WISHED the show was a loose adaptation of Knuckles Chaotix.
Then again, it would repeat Marvel's mistake if the Chaotix appear in the movies. Some who don't watch shows gets confused and thinks it's baffling being homework.
I do wish they did a little more or even flush out the Echidnas vs Owls lore. A lot more background on that being loosely inspired by Sonic Adventure 1.
Of course it was terrible. Knuckles was in it.

This show should've been called, “Wade Whipple & Knuckles” due to its heavy emphasis on Wade rather than Knuckles.
Also, Wendy was SUPER unlikeable. Her teasing came off as mean-spirited and unnecessary rather than funny.

The first episode was where I thought the season was gonna go … the rest of it is awful … wade made me cringe. I can’t believe they ruined knuckles… very upsetting… let’s hope sonic 3 saves us all

I saw it all today and i have to say, they better look over their work on Sonic 3, the Knuckles series was kind of disappointing, very unrealistic. I loved the action with Knuckles, but the characters outside of the sonic characters were very cringe. Knuckles did get his character development learning how to adjust himself in the world but not the character development i was hoping for. He was very unconsiderate of sonic's adopted family i don't remember how to spell their last names, he was very disrespectful. I felt empathetic for the trouble Knuckles caused them. I personally would be livid if someone destroyed half my home with no remorse.
my theory for this show and the sponserships is that sonic 3 was way over budget so they did this to get more money or something idk
Just so you know Dazz, in the musical he runs through Angel Island, not Green Hill, and also the "Demon that looks like Chaos" is actually the main baddie from Sonic 06.

It was nice seeing Julian Barratt appear in this as the bounty hunter, always loved his work as part of the Mighty Boosh. Christopher Lloyd was a delightful surprise and Cary Elwes was great, even if his character was confusing "I'm a jerk who doesn't really care about my son but I just so happen to have the thing that always connected us on hand."
Also was the sister actually part of the FBI for real? I kept waiting for the reveal that she was faking it.

That is not the first level of StH, Green Hill Zone. That is Angel Island Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (& Knuckles). Knuckles’ home, the floating island in the sky powered by the Master Emerald. It’s a little bit more than “remember the classic games?????”
The whole show seems like one of those specially made tv spots to promote an actual show or movie 🤔
Now first of all hello there. The show is actually for me a 5/10. I need to say this:
Episode 1 - 8/10
Episode 2 -7/10
Episode 3 - 6/10
Episode 4 - 4/10
Episode 5 - 6/10

This all leads to an okay series, but it can't go above that. I am sorry, but it is not true that the show can't be serious, around a red-glowing echidna from another world, but it can be really serious. The first exemple are the games that Knuckles was in, we could've got a series that focuses on his tribe stories on his world his past, and then kind of switch off to the present the Buyer and the agents. Wade didn't need this much introuduction so that later in Sonic movie he would be totaly forgotten, also Sonic could have more serious movies and series, the adventure series are the main exemple, so that is not true when someone says it is about an antropomorhic creature so it can't be serious. The show should've had more fighting scenes and cool plot turnes, when I see comedy as genre in Sonic movies I am kind of disappointed. I am happy to see how the Sonic movie 3 solves some issues that Knuckles series had. Sonic movies are really good in my opinion, the weding scene was ok when it was just that scene, but a show that has like more the wedding scenes than the actuall plot involved kind of brings down the show a lot.
Def needs to be lower, only decent ones is the first episode and that's it

It’s nowhere near the same league as the first movie.
To be honest, I feel like the show can vary to who likes it. If you are looking for a Ted Show kind of series then the Wade show & Knuckles is probably the best option. I enjoyed it. However, I will not disagree with the fact that I did feel kind of baited since the trailer made me think it was between knuckles who was supposed to be the main character and a few bits of wade. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.
You know what would have been perfect for the final fight? Find you flame from sonic frontiers. It’s a song fans know and love as well as being thematically relevant to the actual scene
This show (and the 2nd Sonic movie let's be honest) was written by people who aren't Sonic fans. Even in scenes where Knuckles couldn't be on screen for budget reasons, Sonic fans would have found a way to still make it focus on Knuckles being in the world. This is just like most big monster movies: it's a human drama and Godzilla just happens to be there in the background.
I don't mind the cheesy freeze frame ending so much, but the fact they're not high fiving makes it look weird.
