One more thing I wanted to add:
Motivation and passion are often fleeting, but I've found that discipline lasts forever. So, don't always rely on your motivation and passion to be there for you when you need them. Instead, keep working on building an effective strategy, habit, and discipline 💪
And here's a little bit of pep talk I sometimes give a friend of mine in case you need it:
When you need to get some stuff done
Just breathe in, breathe out, focus
and JUST CRUSH IT!! Getting started is often the hardest part, but once you get past that, it's going to be so much easier to continue 👍

in the future ,google may banned youtubers who are chinese or pakistan .

although i am chinese ,but i need to say
because the ADS is from US or other countries .
if that continue , money will get from US or these countries .
maybe small ,not much ,but , chinese hit the ads ,they do not buy .
      ads is not working.
google has not found it .
it is not justice . china companies do not pay for ADS for their products ,because they did not know google adsense ,which can help them to find better .
youtube is free for chinese , they get the value videos ,but the ads is not working for hinese.

sorry ,tell all of you the truth .

youtubers make videos , adsense is salary , if 1000 views from pk or cn, the earning is 0 . hehe ,sorry , because ads is not working in these countries .

if chinese make english videos , because of country, the Dollar will get out to chinese . Using americans to get Dollar . youtube is from US ,americans hit ads from chinese videos , the earnings will give a part to the chinese youtuber .

the 80/20 rule, usually if you just put 20% of your effort, you can almost get 80% of the things down. (and to finish the rest 20%, you might need your 80% effort to perfect it.)

Yeah before quarantine, college made me less productive because of the environment. My high school had a good environment, so it was easy to do work at school and at home. Now at home, I don't have friends to talk to (they used help motivate me just by being there), so I'm just as lazy as I was in college.

I found that adopting the mindset of always starting before I feel ready was key. Once I turned that into a habit, everything became easier. I made a video about building this habit recently. I agree with all of your tips, especially the environment one. Once buying a standing desk and noise cancelling headphones, my environment is now conducive to getting stuff done!

Thanks! Changing environment works miracles for me. I usually go to the local library. It's pretty much a combination of most of the methods you've mentioned. You are supposed to be quiet and no food/drinks are allowed. There are practically no distractions, closing time works like a timer and eating seems like the best reward after 6-8 hours of fasting. Works every time.
@Edit: Oh, and the Internet requires registration and a special code, which I intentionally don't request unless I absolutely have to. Probably the biggest factor.

I know this is an old video, but i am binge watching you stuff. love the way you present and explain different concepts. this video is very important for a lot of people - pretty much everyone struggles with this at times. great tips and strategies. One of the important things is to find what works for you (the viewers) - i.e. music is a personal thing - as you mentioned it doesn't generally work for you. Actually, my wife is the same way. she can sit in complete silence or Grand Central Station and focus on the task at hand. For myself I am the opposite - music helps tune out the distractions and improves focus and productivity.
    Keep up the great work!

    Productivity tips notes
    1. Change your environment to where you can be productive
    2. Write a list of what you want/ need to get done that day
    3. Start with a small task to get yourself going and/or to get you in a better mood.
Like cleaning or planning the weekend.
Just be careful and don't spend too much time on small insignificant task.
    4. Ask yourself a series of why you wanted to work or get this task done in the first place?
Ex: task : an article to your blogg/website
    Why
    1. Side income, So you can generate more traffic and income from your webbpage
    2. So you can get more financial time and location freedom.
    3. So you can travel
    4. Travel gives you experience to look foward to and remember
    5. Break it down to a small first step.
    6. Tell yourself that you only need to work on in a couple of minutes (1-5 mins is enough to get you started)
    7. Bribe yourself with a reward if you complete the task.
    8. Music might make the hard/ boring task a little less boring.

I really appreciate the video like this from people like you, real people with real jobs. Most of the self-help, motivational videos like this on UA-cam are from UA-camr whose main job is UA-cam itself, or podcaster, or video producer, blogger...etc. Most of them are just doing these motivational videos for a living, which is the reason why I can hardly relate to them.
However, you are actually a legit software engineer and actually have talents. Self-help and motivational videos are probably not your main contents. So base on your legit success, I can trust these videos from you much more!
