When wallpapering you should draw a plumb line and use that as your straight edge to start wallpapering, not your walls ceiling or skirtingboards as you will find they are never plumb..
I’ve always understood that about paper. But what is skirtingboards, I’ve never heard that? (My first thought would be baseboards; that sit on the floor?) thanxabunch ❤️😀
It's cute, I really like it. I, personally would have kept the crystals on the light fixture. Suggestion: Battery operated taper candle for the sconce.
I hope they go back in and redo the wallpaper for those folks....it would drive me nuts daily to see the pattern not line up. Otherwise I love this makeover and all things AG.
Not neccesary with a busy print. Only someone anal with a case of constipation and a long time on the toilet would notice. Nothing a coffee enema couldn't fix.
When you say "on a budget" I wish you would say what the actual budget is and show the cost breakdown. One person's idea of budget is different than the next. 💰💰💰
Yeah, that wallpaper would’ve cost like a thousand dollars or so at least. They’re usually like 300 dollars a panel and I counted at least 4 so…. I really really liked the idea of wallpaper until I saw it’d be cheaper to actually hire someone to paint your walls and even repaint them before moving out (speaking as a tenant). I am absolutely in love with the look and aesthetic of this room, don’t get me wrong, but no way would I be able to justify dropping this much money on a rental space. Hell, if I had that kind of money, I’d be dropping it on y’know, a mortgage
@@abhishekchakrabarti8975 I tried to guess the wallpaper cost, too, lol. I guessed 5 panels at $157 each plus $130 for everything else in the links so about $1,000 CDN. Oh plus $66 for the items gifted!
I’m so happy Alexandra went for something different here! (I know she likes cremes, pinks and so on) It’s very refreshing and she can definetely do any style and colour renovation
There's no reason to have a gap at the top of the wallpaper. You simply hang the wallpaper with overhang at the top (just like you do at the bottom), and then trim it up afterwards. That way it's both level/straight and goes all the way to the edge of the wall.
THIS STYLE IS WHAT I LIVE FOR. I love the Victorian touches. Thanks for branching out a little so I could have this experience! Ps this apartment is GORGEOUS. Can we get more of it?
That poor leopard's broken tail would drive me nuts. I know because of time you had to show the wallpaper as is, but am very, very hopeful that by the time this video has aired that panel will have been properly re-hung and the leopard made whole.
It’s so silly when landlords won’t let people paint. Just make it part of the lease that they must paint it back at their expense. It’s paint. And yes, I rent. And yes, I painted ;)
I really am digging this look. That paper is gorgeous and the thrifted mirror is perfect. I would leave the crystals on on the light fixture but like the bulbs better.
Love, love, the wallpaper. Wish it were hung with more care so it wasn't so mismatched. Beautiful powder room and you could tell they were so happy with it.
Ah so pretty! I love the wallpaper. It really feels like a bathroom you'd find in an upscale nightclub, bar, or restaurant. It's amazing how much bigger the room looks with the darkness. Their place in general is gorgeous too. Also I love your polka dotted skirt. So cute!
"I want to eliminate as many things on the wall as possible." 10 seconds later-- I'm hanging a gob of vintage items on the wall over the toilet. Gorgeous wallpaper, just amazing. But I can't with the gap at the ceiling and the mismatched paper. Oof.
Thought I was the only one who noticed that mismatch. The crooked WC sign and mirror were also jarring. Her designs are always lovely but the execution is sometimes sloppy.
LOVE THIS! Most people avoid dark and moody because it can make a space feel enclosed but this was so cosy and transporting. It’s a fresh take on the gold accent and deep green palm leaf wallpaper I usually see, although I love that too 🥰
Yay look at me being early for the first time in my life! Love you Alexandra, hope you're having a great day, I know this is going to be a bomb transformation
Oh wow! That is the most perfect powder room ever. Love, love, love the wallpaper. The practical side of me says the wallpaper around the basin should be sealed with something or it may disintegrate/discolor in no time from the constant water splashes?
I would never in a million years have picked that wallpaper but it is truly amazing. It looks gorgeous in the space and the whole room is really transformed! Looks so great!
I am so surprised at how much I like this. I love the random quirkiness and moodiness of it. The random photos and that mirror are perfect in here. Love how the "cat" is highlighted above the sink, lol!
LOVE the wallpaper! I think it's a perfect design aesthetic when a tiny room is made into a "jewel". The only thing I would change would be the white mat on the one picture, at least it looks white on screen? Maybe a cream, gray, or black mat? I would love this powder room :)
Have you thought about battery operated candles? I love mine. They're on timers 6 hrs on 18 off. Automatic night lite and ambiance for the bathroom. Not to mention safe.
Beautiful space! Love the dark and moody all the way! Also reminded me of the Sorry Girls bathroom they did in their studio. Big fan of spaces like that.
Gorgeous, that wallpaper is everything!!! Personally, would have just hung empty picture frames, to allow the wallpaper to still shine. Regardless, it looks stunning!!
I love this, and also really appreciate the tip about making paper artwork templates to test positioning. When room is small and dark why not accent it further and glory in it. Lovely.
LOVE a dark and moody powder room! I painted my powder room in Hale Navy (after I saw you use it in a makeover) and I absolutely love it. This makeover is so gorgeous and inspiring, dying to use wallpaper now! ❤️
This is absolutely my favorite makeover out of all your makeovers! This room is perfection! The wallpaper is exquisite! The rich, opulent colors speak to my soul!! It is fabulous in every way - I want this in my home!! ! I love it!
Ok, Alexander you have completely outdone yourself!!!!!! I have a small bathroom in my condo and I want it to look just like this! I would NEVER HAVE THOUGHT to NOT put the WALLPAPER TO THE CEILING ! Amazing!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Love this so much! So epic to see Alexandra do moody rather than pastel! The wallpaper is perfection but was hung so bad! Bubbles, rips, gaps and the pattern didn’t even line up! Hope he went back and fixed it!
This reminds me of The Sorry Girls office bathroom! This look works well in this space, but when she duplicated it in a guest bedroom at DIY Danie's house it failed miserably.
I love this and I love your mirror choice. Did you think about using gold face plates for the outlets? Would it have been too much? LOVE the wallpaper!
I have not had a single landlord allow painting, wallpaper, changes in lighting, or hardware . Many have not allowed nails, screws, or tacks for hanging things on the walls. This would be such a dream to get a landlord to consent to something this amazing!
Hope they like it. For a small space I prefer something lighter, but that's just me. One wall would have been good but not all of it. The original hanging light is the only thing I like about the room
I might be an outlier, but I *hate* pictures hung on a busy wallpaper or paint pattern. I love the wallpaper and I think the end goal is super fun, but for me, I would have gone with a plain black wall for the two short walls.
In my honest opinion, this is your absolute best work thus far. I love this! Your confidence as a designer is growing and it shows. Please continue to stretch your creative wings and watch your channel soar.
I wish you’d given them another little ledge or shelf over the sink. Pedestal sinks are such a PIA to live with, nowhere to place anything down like your phone while you wash your hands or something.
the best work I have seen you do IMO! save for errors in hanging the paper( not your work ) but the advice on starting lower was wrong as I noted others mentioned.
A little gold band around the soap dispenser would of been cute and a towel the color of the leopard would of showed up better or a gold detail on the black. A critter or plant (fake of course) on zee toilet 👈!
I don’t know, I have never seen a good wallpaper job from you/your team. This wallpaper job is such a mess. If I were the owner, I would’ve taken that down and hired an expert to do it. Misaligned patters. Wrinkles. Bubbles. Argh. On a different note, love the mirror. I want one.

@@tracyataci9171 Exactly! @@TheOrganizedSoprano Same here, I just posted the same comment, and only then I read what others said.
I love that wallpaper, but why didn't he take the time to make sure the pattern lined up correctly?

Shame for the bubbles and the scratches indeed
