    One of these days when the motor in my GTO gets tired I'm going to build a 388 to pair with an F-series procharger to really make her scream. Cool video and helped answer a few questions I had about the future build 👍

      @@NorthernPerformanceCars For sure, I was surprised to see you were running an aluminum block. Don't plan to make quite as much steam as you are, so it looks like a safe option.

    I'm torn between the iron and aluminum LSnext block. Saving 100lbs off the front end is nice, but I'm concerned with strength at those power levels using aluminum. If it works for you though, it must be pretty strong!

      I’ve been 205.99 in the 1/2 being the fastest red at that specific venue ever, 7.2@191 in the 1/4 and 4.6@155 in the 1/7th at over 3,200lbs. The block easily has several hundred more hp in it.
      My previous had 2 full seasons, about 4,000 street miles. More 1/8-1/4 hits than I could count.

    Wait did you run .2 wall pins? On a 2.250 pin? Damn. I had trend cut me .225 wall h13 for my .927 x 2.250 pins (for the wire locks on my cp's). .2 wall and 8900rpm sheeesh. Pretty slick setup.
    What cold clearance did you run on your ultra H? And main clearance? Lol have the same rods.
    Any bob weight under or over balancing?
    I'm going to give callies 8 counterweight a run, but block is a tsp darton resleeve and 1/2" headstuds. Got about 30 thou cold (alu block, I know some guys resleeve the iron blocks).
    Also thanks for posting. Only thing I've found about the 388 btr cam. I want to give it a shot on my 376

    • @NorthernPerformanceCars
      @NorthernPerformanceCars  4 роки тому +2

      Yes sir. I used the .200 wall thickness pins that came with the Wiseco pistons. The only time I’ve ever seen one of those bend is when it’s trying to compress fluid.
      I did step into a .225 wall for my newest engine. Just in case. I’m trying to be a little more harsh with it.
      I run close to .003 rod and main clearances. .0028-.0029 region.

    • @NorthernPerformanceCars

      Less torque, more rpm stable, easier in parts, stretch a single turbo out further not using up as much turbine.

    Great video! Just curious as to why you chose cathedral ports vs a rec port head?

    • @NorthernPerformanceCars
      @NorthernPerformanceCars  3 роки тому +1

      Relatively small cubic inch. These heads already flow 360-370cfm at .600 lift. Being hydraulic roller there isn’t much of anything left in the camshaft.
      If it was a solid roller a larger port and more rpm would be beneficial.

    I'm piecing together my first 388. It won't be anything near as extreme as this as I'm on a much smaller budget and I'm SLOWLY purchasing parts. I was hoping you could assist in some direction. I plan on using some TFS 245 cathedral port heads. Was wondering what you might recommend as far as combustion chamber size. What size were yours in this setup?
