AMAZING video. So concise and to the point. Not "over-explainy" either. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I do have one question. I don't know if it's been asked because I haven't read all 150+ comments. My only question, why is it/how can i fix the problem of both mics picking up ALL the ambient noise in the room. I was testing in his living room with my buddy and the mics were picking up the AC vent when it kicked on, the fridge when it kicked on, a rush of air. My voice clearly in his mic and vice versa. What could be the issue/fix? We were sitting across from each other, about 2 feet between us. We're using a Scarlett just like the one in the video and both using Mac/Garage Band to record. Thank you for your time.
Really appreciate for sharing your experience. You explained so smoothly. My opinion was that like if someone doesn’t know English still can find out how to set up thru watching this video. Thank you
Thanks for this video. I'm just starting and every time I get ready to record, I need a refresher on how to set everything up. I'm saving this video to a playlist! Thanks again!
Thanks for the video! I am recording a podcast with a co host, so I need to headphones to come out of the Scarlett. My question is, can I use a regular headphone splitter, like a jack that connects to the scarlett from 1 end and has 2 ports from the other end to plug in the headphone? Or do I need a splitter like the one you are using?
I loved your PodCast demonstration with Garagee Band. When you were on Garabe Band at one point your record meters were not working so you it Alt D. and or Alt T. obviously on a PC. What is the equivalent code on a Mac? Thanks
thumbs up. I;'m not sure why focusrite has only one headphone inlet but maybe its because it's for music. I'm using it for podcasting and the splitter amplifier solves the issue. Thanks again. subscribed!
hello! great tutorial! Do you know why there´s a tum tum tum tum tum sound in the background... I used Scarlett 2i2 3d gen and SM7B Microphone with Dynamite in the pre amp. Thank you...
I love this video and how amazing this guy explains everything. He explained how most of the things work without me even having to look them up while not even meaning to. I love his voice as well. Keep up the good work, I would love to see more videos like this👍
Thank you for the video. I was just wondering if you can use GarageBand on a HP laptop? My plan is to get a podcast up and running with me as the host and a guest would I be using this setup for that? That will mean getting a cloud lifter and headphone splitter for headphone for myself and the guest? Also will I have to touch anything on the laptop when I start recording?
I have 2i2 G3 + SM58 > need to turn the input gain all the way to 100% (06:00) on the scarlett in order to get -12dB. Distance source (my vocal) to microphone 6 cm.
Hello! Actually I have audio array ai04 interface. So, I tried connecting 2 condenser microphones and record both the mics at the same time. Actually I want to record my drums with both the mics. But the problem is that both the mics are getting mixed in one input. I cannot separate the inputs. I mean in Fl studio in mixer channel 1 I am choosing input 1 and in mixer channel 2 I am choosing input 2. But if I speak in any of the mic both the mixer channels are getting signals.
Basically it splits and re-amps the signal. Connect it to the headphone output and it will provide you with 4 more headphones outputs with individual volume control.
Hi! Thanks for this great video! 🙏 I followed the instructions (input 1 for mic 1 and input 2 for mic 2) and I can hear properly both microphones. Still, when i start recording, both tracks do record the mic I've plugged in Input one and ignore the second MIC 😭 This is driving me crazy! I have a Mac M2 and using a 3rd generation 4i4. Any tips on how I can solve this? Thank you so much in advance! 🙏
I have a problem with scarlett in live, we do not have the equal voice outcome, most likely the vocal most is out but the keyboard and guitar we barely hear it. we connect with mixer Mackie Profx 16v. Please help
Hi I would like to know how to record a call with Scarlett... The platform manage to record myself and the person over the phone but that person can't listen to me.
So I've got the idea the shure sm7b is good with a cloud filter! My question is what headphones are you using, and could I use the shure sm7b and another separate branded mic and still get good responses if both need the cloud lifter?? Thank you
Great demo. Is there such thing as an interface that would allow TWO mics, and TWO headphone jacks, so that BOTH could monitor their voices? I just want to do an interview into my computer. Thanks!
Howdy! I have a phantom power behringer u-phoria um2, and a normal dynamic microphone, in the recording program I record only mono but not stereo, I use XLR cable mom and dad, I don't know where the problem would be?
I truly appreciate all content creators who spend time with uploading videos - two thumbs up for them. Really. However, what I notice is that with every video, every comment is about how wonderful they are, how great the video is... etc, which helps the ego, obviously, but does not help to LEARN to get better. I believe constant improvement is the basis of success, so let me just add this: most "how to" video makers presume that the viewer KNOWS what you are talking about, and that they know the software etc. They do not. We are morons. If we were not, we would not need these videos, because we would figure it out on our own. So in this video, you get to the part that "my GarageBand recognizes the Scarlett right away", I am thinking: good for you bud. My GarageBand does not. Now what? You need to assume some of us got GarageBand that does not recognize the Scarlett, and then we get stuck right there - and the rest of the video is basically useless from that point. So what you want to do is "My GarageBand recognizes Scarlett right there, BUT IF your GarageBand does not, here is what you got to do...." I warn all content creators the same: imagine your viewer is an 8 year old boy who wants to learn how to record himself and his grandpa. Now this boy will not know how to get GarageBand to recognize the Scarlett. He needs to learn that. So now he has to go and find another tutorial about GarageBand, and then another one.... and so on. See my point? Cheers
I have this same interface but i thought i could plug in two sets of headphones on the back using the two headphones jacks? I never thought to use a headphone splitter. What’s the difference?

Thank you very much for the Video. I do have a question. There was a known issue that I am facing now with 2i4 scarlet 1gen... when I plug in Microphone in the Interface and all than to the Laptop Mac Book Pro / as soon as I connect my Laptop to charging Cabel I can Hear some Interrupting sound waves in my Headphones, which are also recorded to the Audio at the end. This kind of recorded audio is useless in this quality. As soon as I disconnect the Laptop from Power Adapter/ the Interrupting sound is gone and I can record the Audion in decent and nice clear quality. Do you know the way around it - how can I eliminate this interrupting sound which always appears when I connect the Mac book to the Power Adapter. (I need the Laptop to be on the charger, while I can't constantly checking the battery during recording..(cold potentially Power USB Hub solve the problem - try to separate the power)? This video is an absolute LIFE Saver! Thank you for making my podcast sound unbelievable!
Awesome vid this helped a lot .. now I only need to figure out how to record and do audio for live podcasting
Everything went smoothly, except a low constant hum when listening back to audio. How could this be resolved?
The most likely issues are:
1) Environmental, microphones hearing HVAC or fans in your room
2) You're pushing the preamp too hard (past 9/10)
