As a fellow Jaws fan, i dont mind the size. Mainly because of the price. Its already 160 dollars 💀 thats expensive enough. And yes i am a diehard Jaws fan, ive been watching it since i was 6 (yet again im 16 but 10 years ive been watching) and im not disappointed at all.
Yeah but as I said in the video whilst it's great we finally have a jaws set I am disappointed they changed the Orca build so much from the original design that was perfect. I never actually said not to get the set. Hell I'm even going to get 2.
the thing about the original ideas design isn’t that it was from a Jaws fan - its also from someone that isn’t designing to a parts budget - where Lego will.
I just double checked the price and it's 120 UK. The Hocus Pocus House and Snow White are larger, proportional and more expensive sets but they work for some reason. Idk why they just had to make Orca smaller
The gap in the barrels I believe is there to show that all 5 barrels can fit on the Orca, and there is a 5th barrel included in the set (it’s on the other side of the stern in the water)
Speak for yourself but as a massive Jaws set this is an absolute amazing set and not a disappointment at all! I think the orca looks fantastic, You were very caught up on the original design, LEGO typically makes design changes to make it a better streamline LEGO product, this typically includes having to fix original designs that may have been too delicate.
My father let my sister and I watch Jaws when I was 5 when it came out on HBO, that was definitely the 70’s parenting style. We had chicken that night and my sister and I were complaining that the chicken tasted like shark, 😂. My father just said eat your dinner. Then we went to the lake by our house later that summer and we were deathly afraid a shark was in there, again 😂. Definitely traumatic movie experience for us as children. But it’s one of my favorite movies to today. And I understand all of the things wrong with this set, but I am just so glad that they did give it the green light. I’m 50 now and they never made too many models or anything of the orca unfortunately. Why I’ll never know, it’s an instant seller with the huge cult following of this great film. Thank you for your honest opinion and great video!
I wish they would have designed the orca the same as bruce so that i can remove quincys legs and display it reenacting that scene, but still a good set. Also the anti communist guy being a die hard jaws fan is funny as hell for some reason
First of all , get the lego set Then look by look by the the page by the instructions for it and just use pieces and new pieyes. They got laying around. It's our rebuilding it the way you like it. So You're welcome america
It would be really something if Lego made it so you could, I don't know, modify their sets with relative ease. Especially, as you stated, you'd be willing to pay more. Or maybe, and I know this will sound crazy... but design and build one that suits your own needs. Lego makes these sets to sell, not to please a small percentage of a fandom.
I think I’m going to buy it but mod it myself so it’s more minifig scale. Also I agree that the shark looks too real if that makes sense😅 I’ll probably change the shark too so it looks more like the shark animatronic and not an irl great white.
I think the size comes from the fact that the shark’s front side is so large that making it it’s actual scale compared to the orca would make it either look much smaller or disproportionate. I think the shark itself in its full form is meant to be displayed on its own. If you’re gonna display it with the ship then it becomes more proportional, which honestly is how I’m going to display it.
Yeah, I hear ya. It feels unfocused. The parts from both display bases should have gone to the Orca. The shark looks great as a shark but it's not Bruce. That's my own biggest problem with the set. Bruce is one of my favorite movie monsters and they switched him out for the stock footage version. The previous shark from the creator line looks way more like Bruce.
I felt like I was the only one yelling about the redesign of the shark. Bruce's fin is ICONIC and the original design pretty much had it down correctly. The redesign cut the top of it right off. Why?? They moved the eyes back which gives it a goofy look and made the whole thing much thinner. We all know Bruce's belly was quite full! I'll probably still get this set but I will be fixing the shark for sure. The Orca...I don't even know where to start.
Jaws fans get Jaws set and are disapointed lol, I have been waiting for WW2 sets since I was 6 yo about 40 years ago and I probably won't see them in my lifetime. So yeah appreciate what you got Jaws fellas, at least you got something.
The original jaws that he made is great! It acfually looks like bruce. The official one just looks like a generic shark. The creation shark looks better!
One of my biggest concerns is that there won’t be an undercarriage area (I don’t know what the actual term is called) under the bridge. It looks like there may be space for one, or at least space to create one.
@@OCGangsta I’ll probably just MOC the whole thing up. Make some more interior space. Other than that, I really don’t mind the scale. At surface level it looks proportionally accurate, and it kinda emphasizes the “Need a Bigger Boat.” It’s just a little too narrow.
I’m glad someone else shares my opinion about the set. Bruce’s gill area looks too puffy, the fins are all cartoonish and overall he looks less intimidating than the shark from aqua raiders. I’m REALLY on the fence about weather or not I’d like to make a purchase, cause while I’d love to have a Lego Jaws diorama to go alongside my MOC of The Inferno ship from the Goonies and the Ghostbusters firehouse, I can’t bring myself to like the official set over the ideas set. Maybe somewhere down the line there will be online instructions showing how to either improve the official set or to straight up make the ideas set. The ladder I (and possibly all of us Jaws fans) would really like. The main upgrades I’d do is; provide a brickarms M1 Gurand and hair piece for Quint, a grey or blue sweater and hat less hair piece for Hooper, a black torso and brickarms revolver for Brody, make Bruce smaller and the Orca better.
you and I might spend 200-300 dollars but the average consumer won’t hopefully if this sells really well we will get more sets from jaws (what sets on the movie(s) do you think they should make?). I love jaws but it is an old movie and out of public interest and spotlight. It is not trending in tiktok or other social media. The movie is not re-releasing. And it is not an anniversary year for the movie. LEGO has the spread sheets and all the data they know what will sell and how much they can get away with in terms of price. Of course details are going to be lacking this is a LEGO set not a hunk of plastic from hasbro. Try being a Star Wars LEGO fan 😂 nothing is 100% accurate even the $700 UCS sets (do you really want me to go on about the inaccuracy of ucs sets?). At the end of the day it is product that needs to be sold and for a LEGO **product** in the diorama line this is perfect. Fair criticism and I think LEGO should provide instructions and parts list for the original design in the box as an extra. Welcome to LEGO
I 100% agree. They’re willing to making a garbage Hocus Pocus set that is relatively bigger than this, and I find it severely unfair. The Orca should’ve been much larger
Certified Jaws moment

I would rather pay 200 for a full orca and diorama than a cheaper smaller orca and diorama
@@OCGangstamore people wouldn't though and Lego will want to go for what's going to bring in more money

Lego: "But, would you buy it?"

1 for display. 1 for resell when it gets retired so I can make the money back 🤣

We are gonna need a bigger boat!

Usually they don't make new molds for a set but I guess because this is a licensed theme they can get away with that detail.

I totally agree with you. Its a 6/10 for me. The ORCA is not accurate enough. It is too small!
We needed a minifigure of the little boy that got attacked on the floaty. That would of been great.
unfortunately, lego is focused on making sets for as cheap as possible. that’s why bruce and the orca are less accurate and much smaller.
