  • The battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle ever to occur on American soil. Although the battle ended over 150 years ago, the ghosts of those who lost their lives still remain.

    My husband was not a "believer" until we visited Vicksburg Mississippi. When he went for a run through the battlefield, he clearly heard artillery, and the band playing. He looked around and saw nothing. Now he believes.

      Thanks for sharing. Sometimes a person has to have their own experience before they believe which is completely understandable. What a cool one for your husband to have!- Rob

    I've seen the 117th New York Infantry there, even talked to the Captain who said to thank the park office and when I did the park office said that there was nobody on the Battlefield. Ammo from the 1860s was encased in beeswax including powder and projectile. There wasn't 151,000 casualties, that was just the number killed over three days x2 wounded and 37,000 missing. It's General Reynolds who was a Union General killed the first day of the Gettysburg battle (July 1-3, 1863). My parents live in a house that used to be a farm field and there's a guy who pushes a manual plow from the 1800s. I've talked to the guy who killed Jennie Wade, he was a rookie who mistook a flareup of the wood burning stove for a person shooting at him

      @mortalclown3812 5 місяців тому +3

      Fwiw, the stove in the house was not visible from the door or any window in the house. Here's why...
      A second door on its side had been placed between the front door and the stove/cooking area precisely to protect from bullets. (It's easy enough to look up. )
      Unfortunately, the firepower proved too strong and went through both doors. Jenny was killed instantly.

    I have been there many, many times and have had a lot of experiences. It is just horrible to think what happened there. I wish people would take the time to educate their children about the history and how most of Gettysburg is sacred land

    I reenacted the 125th anniversary battle of Gettysburg in 1988. I heard the distinct sound of Civil war infantry moving at night. I thought my imagination was running away with me. I didn't say anything about it to anyone. Ten years later my father and l were reminiscing about the reenactment. Turns out my father experienced the exact same thing.

    I lived 40 min north of Gettysburg. Visited many times, And had 1 very disturbing incident.
    We were in between Devils Den and Little Round Top.
    We decided to take a photo of the New York Memorial. It’s an infantry soldier in the prone position. The picture was went off without a problem. When I looked at the pictures the photo with the NYM, there was a black mass swirling in the top left hand corner of the pic.
    My girlfriend showed a coworker who is “sensitive “ told her, “there is movement in that mass”
    My blood ran cold.

      @@HometownGhostStories My wife and I stopped by the cemetery for an hour or so before our drive home. Lots of chairs were set up, such as in preparation for a funeral or maybe a commemorative speech. I took a seat, and I noticed a women dressed in 19th century mourning attire sitting several feet away from me. I looked away for a moment or two, and she was gone. (There was no one else around at the cemetery, and I'd think I would have seen the women in the near distance had she walked away.) Anyway, that's not proof of the paranormal, but I found it interesting nevertheless.

    Around 2012, an unseen entity smacked me on the chest in broad daylight in my room at the Tillie Pearce House. That night, someone kept shaking my wife's shoulder in bed, and the blanket and sheet were pulled off us. The employees said it's likely that it was a ghost child. I don't know about that, but something was there. I wouldn't have believed it except that it really happened to me.

    When I was at the Jennie Wade house, they said if an unmarried woman put her ring finger in the bullet hole then she will get engaged that year. They didn't mention anything about what you said. I did see Jennie during the tour, she was around, but no one had put their finger through the bullet hole.
