About six weeks ago I got one of those Radial EXTC boxes, and couldn’t be happier with it. It solves so many problems while being dead simple to operate.
I've added a few pedals to my synths and it has made all the difference! Eventide Timefactor, Empress Reverb and Hologram Microcosm. This video was very informative of your process! Ty!
This was a lovely video to get an understanding of where to start for me. I plan to use a couple of pedals to apply to my DAW and a couple of elektron boxes.
Firstly, the Kratos look fits you well 🙌😋 Your sound really is amazing!🤯😱 It's spacious and deep without sounding muddy or cluttered and simple without ever getting monotonous- well done man!
Every time I see the AM1 I look at mine in the bubble wrap ! lol. Soon it will come out and we can me AM1 pen pals. love these videos! Hair looks ace I think
Great presentation and very informative! Love this approach, especially to have certain fx on a seperate channel! I use the fx loop of a cheap behringer mixer for my pedals. I hooked it up to a patch bay to rearrange the order, plus I put a EHX Tri Parallel Mixer in it. Bang for a buck! 3 fx loops, re-order possibilty, send/return level and phase switching for each loop. Last pedal before fx return is a buffer to compensate signal quality loss. Up to now it seems that all of my pedals can handle the line level, some I have to tame with the volume knob to level it out once. Overall, very pleased with this setup.
Another great video, thanks. A programmable outboard matrix mixer with more points would be a useful tool for you. It would turn your outboard into sort of a modular processor. I know Erica do one. And I wonder if there is something that sounds even nicer. I remember Hainbach doing a video (Loopop too). Speaking of Hainbach, your visual aesthetics have come together nicely for you too with those totemic processor and tape stacks. They almost look Wall-E type robot characters. A good balance of darker monolithic elements in the background, offset with some pleasing glowing LEDs. I wonder if a natural feature piece might look nice there, for contrast. Perfect place for a well lit tall elegant plant, or a beautiful double bass even. I'm setting up a similar space now, that has a lot of white space. In the end, I found a slender plant on one side; and my vintage sunburst semi-hollowbody guitar and Vox amp on the other. And they caught and reflected the light nicely, filling out the whitespace. Also, in the space I started to setup in the salon, I have a very large pleated domestic overhead practical light. In a Nord Lead red / bakelite orange colour. And the way it sits mid of top edge of frame and hovers over a person's head is quite satisfying. You could lower the lampshade to hide your head in videos from your wife for the month. Sort of like a Solo Devo ;)
Hey Oora, with such complicated setups, I would personally like to see a video (i know you don't do many routing/setup videos), on various ways to route pedals with your mixer, instruments, etc. The reason i mention it, is that pedals, and various instrument setups, are a large part of how you work, I would think many viewers watch because they may work with similar tools or similarly overall. Also, for me, when i listen to your routing examples, like what you described with your reamp boxes for example, I find it pretty hard to technically understand how you really set them up and/or routed them. Perhaps showing a visual diagram/drawing would help illustrate what you are telling us. DOn't get me wrong, your English is VERY good, but sometimes you may use a word that can add a bit of confusion, or your accent may sometimes get in the way. Anyway, just thoughts and ideas i thought i'd share my perspective on.
Great video! Regarding the wet / dry settings on the pedals, how do you approach this? For example where you have a chain of a delay pedal into a reverb pedal, is the delay on 100% wet?
Molto bene Oora!!! A lot of stuff clicked for me on this one. As far as your new “look”??? I’ve already forgotten what you you looked like before. Lol…
Have you tried putting your pedals on a switcher (ex. Boss ES5 or similar) - so one EXTC can serve all the pedals on the switcher at the same time? A good pedal switcher isn't necessarily cheap, granted, but it keeps you from having to buy an EXTC for every pedal "channel" you have. Also, thank you for your informative and helpful video(s).
Hey, presuming that you researched the big six, I was wondering how you would have routed your fx sends on it? I am looking at something like this. Probably don’t need quite so many sends though.
It’s like a studio version of your Play Differently mixer! What kind of console is this? Also it looks like it’s modular, did you get to choose how many channels and sends to have?
Still looking handsome with the shaved head, amico mio! How are you enjoying the LVX Merris? Seems much deeper than just a granular delay - like a powerful source of modulation and movement. How would compare Maris to something like the Hologram Microcosm? They seem somewhat similar to me but I live in a small town and do not get to see interesting gear in the stores around here. Or maybe the better question is, what do you like better and find more versatile/useful?
@@OoraMusic thanks for the reply! Electronic music is mostly a very expensive hobby for me. I rarely perform live as I am in desperate need of a new mixer (and don’t have a set I feel confident performing yet. My town wants CDJs and hits, or there are depressingly empty dubstep shows that once were so fun.) but can’t decide what is more practical at under $700: a DJ style mixer (obviously the best options here are far out of my price range, like the Model 1/1.4 and the A&H Xone line), or a more traditional “front of house” mixer like a Yamaha, Mackie, or Tascam. I feel like I’m often paying for onboard digital effects or recording capabilities that will be vastly out paced by my Elektron devices reverb/delay/chorus, Perkons BBD, Eventide H9Max, Oto BOUM, audio interface and DAW, and whatever pedal I get next. My birthday is coming in a few days and wanted to treat myself to a cool new pedal that gives me more flexible reverb and delay options, as well as freeing up the H9 to utilize its more wild and weird effects. Have looked at CBA Mood mkII, CBA GenLoss mkII, Walrus M1, Hologram Microcosm, LVX Merris, and plenty more that I’ve managed to rule out for now, haha. The GAS never ends. I do not need them, but I am dying for a Syntakt, Octatrack (I feel I could use this as a mixer and send/return unit, as well as its own sample mangler and effects unit…), and an analog poly or multi timbral synth to balance my Digitone (tho, the Arturia micro freak seems like an affordable and nice sounding solution. Have also thought about just a nasty mono bass synth, like the Dreadbox Hades, but think I’ll find a one trick pony to be exactly that, if you follow me.) Maybe it’s the Oora fan in me that just wants a Perfourner and more Elektron gear when I should really find a nice affordable mixer that fits my needs (market is so saturated with gear it’s hard to mot feel paralyzed sometimes), save for a used Octatrack as my “mixer”, or just f**kin treat myself to a cool pedal for my birthday. But most of this music and internal GAS is happening at home, as I am an active rock/punk/metal/any-genre-that-is-paying-me-to-sit-in if I’m not busy with my full time band, helping run the studio, or doing carpentry work.
Grazie sempre per tutti questi consigli. Ps: Non ti preoccupare per tua moglie, ti avrà fatto trovare sicuramente una bella bistecca alla fiorentina sulla tavola hihi :)
@OoraMusic haha as reply to your last remarks.. stay away from dating sites!! I tried a couple of years back again after being away from that 16-18 years or so. All I got was scam messages and death threads on my life because as they wrote "was a fake prophet with a fake beard" or just "fake beard person" hahaha😅 (beard is not fake)
Very interisting. I use two chains of pedals on my Mackie VLZ4 1202, this mixer is quite clever apparently because you can set the volumes of the sends (and set pre/post fader), so i have clean sound on my two chains. One of the two chains is built around a patchbay, so i can change my chain very easily. I use a Palmer Daccapo for my reampings. Palmer have a line of very interisting tools and much cheaper than Radial, check it if you need another reamp box. Thank you for the video, always very well spirited and informative. Very cool 👍

yep
Very curious to see this video. Integrating fx pedals into my mixing setup has been a massive game changer. Super valuable processing method 🙌
yep!
"I have everything I need... hopefully !" 😁

thanks man! wish I had kratos body tho!!
Looking aerodynamic!
:D
i wonder about this summing up of enormous heat dissipation. Cool!

Love your video man. Do you think the simple ramp box Pro RMP would also work to get my RE-201 in the Console and eliminate hum?
i think might help, but never tried one!
Rocking the look Dude 😎
ahah tell my wife, she hated it
@OoraMusic the Man bun, top knot is out.. get some o that Italian sun on ya thou Hahaha. Luckily for you, can grow it back.. I canny 😫 Hahaha 👍

It's a great idea. I think the Erica would be a good one, will see if I can get one!
good luck man, hope the best for you
than ks!

Noted! I will get my console next months and will do more videos about that!
You look fresh mate! Super interesting stuff as usually :)
thanks!!
cool, very cool

yes the first one is fully wet usually
@@OoraMusic cheers dude
Great video 👏 Now I NEED Reamp 😭 Also: sempre ascoltare la moglie 😱
ahah lo so!
Bud, my Eventide space psu is busted - tell me , do you use the power brick for all pedals, and if so, which one?
yep , I use a cioks dc 7
Molto bene Oora!!! A lot of stuff clicked for me on this one. As far as your new “look”??? I’ve already forgotten what you you looked like before. Lol…
:D thanks!!
hey bro! what is the small square modular aluminium case do you use?
its made by all busy circuit
really good
thanks!

I thought a bout that, but I have 3 pedal chains always on, so I need just one more!
I looked up the mixing console as I am considering a similar setup and it's crazy expensive.
What would be a low-mid budget alternative?
ssl big six was my other choice
Hey, presuming that you researched the big six, I was wondering how you would have routed your fx sends on it? I am looking at something like this. Probably don’t need quite so many sends though.
Mackie 1402vlz4
It’s like a studio version of your Play Differently mixer!

is a zahl am1
What a beautiful piece of engineering.
Also the same one Nils Frahm is now using in his tour as the heart of his improvisational setup.
Still looking handsome with the shaved head, amico mio!

I think the lvx is way more versatile than the microcosm, while the latter is very useful for live performances where you need instant magic

I used to own a Palmer Daccapo. Don't go there. I now own 2 Radial EXTC stereo and sold the Palmer. Radial is high quality, no comparison really.
