    TROPICAL OUTLOOK:
According to the last several days, the long-range weather model has been showing potential tropical cyclone development to occur this week over the Pacific to our southeast. It is very close to where the Eastern Pacific basin and Central Pacific basin meet, so the storm's name will depend on where it originates (either Hector over the Eastern Pacific or given a Hawaiian name Hone if it forms over the Central Pacific).
I think the models are in more agreement of showing," Hector" being born sometime late Tuesday into Wednesday. By Friday afternoon into Saturday, wave watch models show evidence of the storm and swell energy approaching the islands into the weekend.
Most of the model runs have been having a hard time on pinpointing the exact timing of these ingredients coming together to create a tropical cyclone; but it looks like Sunday will be a potential First Alert Weather Day for Hawaii Island and parts of Maui if this tropical cyclone holds true as of the latest model runs. The latest model runs, do not show the system making landfall, with the center remaining to our south. But as history has showed over the decades, whenever a system is to our south we must diligently watch it until it completely passes the islands and does not make a right turn towards Hawaii.
Right now, it seems this will bring potential heavy rain to Hawaii Island and bigger surf to the rest of us.
Being, just about a week out, we wanted to give you a heads up so you can properly go over your hurricane plan with your ohana especially if you are located on Hawaii Island.
Please watch the video for details of what we know so far and what to expect. Mahalo.
