Eldrazi winter, Legacy edition, Was genuinely excited to see my favourite creatures type make a comeback in horizons, but I feel completely ignoring the colour pie with kozcom at an affordable (in legacy) cost with varied modes and scalability is just insane for a single instant.
Scry+Draw on that comes out of nowhere. The rest is standard Eldrazi stuff, but seems like it should at least be the sort of exiling anticipate seen on Devourer of Destiny.
@petrie911 yea, I'd definitely like it more if it was a choose 1 exile the rest kinda deal. It'd also make x is 1 a requirement to draw, and incentivise larger
It's not just eldrazi winter, it's combo winter too, both decks (nadu and eldrazi) pretty much have turn 3-4 onward locked down, so play something faster than them because you aren't beating their long game
Very much appreciate the games and analysis of the fresh face of legacy. If you had the ability to make a full 8 decks in legacy, which archetypes would you choose and why?
I have a structural question. Why is bug beans bug instead of bant? You trade murderous cut, edict and such for swords and probably leyline binding. You've mentored multiple times that witherbloom command is not a draw to black anymore. So, I'm curious.
Just my guess Murderous can cost 1 compared to Binding, and can feed Murktide, and come back with Sanctuary Orcish is a solid creature Swords is better than Fatal but apparently not enough at the moment Thought Seize and Command have enough value and aren't replaced by white cards Could totally see Bant Beans doing well, try to see about putting a list together that can swap white cards for the black cards with comparative versatility, interaction, and power?
Is combust playable versus nadu, uncounterbale 5 damage to blue or white creature the damage can’t be prevented, there’s also a 1 mana sorcery that does 1 to a creature or planeswalker and 5 instead of its blue or white, that one can hit the green dorks and shep plus the kor and nadu it also is can’t be countered. I’m playing combust in the side of my red decks now and it’s been solid I’m gonna try barrage but it not being instant speed seems bad.
I get that eldrazi breaks the color pie, but I do not understand why it needs to be banned. Its a cool new deck in the most powerful format in magic, to me that is something to celebrate, not ban
Kozilek’s Command violates the colour pie. Making colourless mana is supposed to be a downside, not an upside. K Command is the most egregious violation because it plugs all the holes in the deck.
I mean we all have our bad takes. I misjudged it, i didn't realize how good the jump on it would be, thinking it would be to costly to keep doing, but the fact that people just refuse to block it so you got to draw cards for days. meant that you ONLY needed it later on.
@@justthat4333it was the best card in the only fair deck of the format pre-ban (dimir tempo), and was the “fair plan” enabler for the dimir reanimator deck. So it’s reasonable to call it a fair card.
Hey Jack, thanks for watching and commenting on Bryan's video. In competitive Magic, a "fair" card is a card that doesn't combo. Lightning Bolt is fair. Murktide Regent is fair etc. A fair card can snowball and be "unfair" in the context of format powerlevel which is probably what confused you (Oko is a great example). Psychic Frog was the plan B of Reanimator and the best threat in Dimir Tempo which was the premier fair deck to play. TLDR; Frog is incredibly powerful, but it's a fair magic card.
Most magic players use fair/unfair as a descriptor of if the card is used for combo. Ex: noble hierarch is a fair card. Dark ritual is an unfair card. It is not a statement about perceived power level. Drs, oko, wrenn and six, etc. were all fair cards.
Frog was over the line with or without reanimate, it single handedly ran away with games on its own. If DHA is too good for the format, frog is wayyyy more powerful than that
@@BoshNRoll Haha, I agree. But hot takes drive engagement, no? I do wish they would have taken Frog and Reanimate, though. Reanimator has plenty of good 2 mana reanimate spells (and Entomb is a cool/unique card).

Yeah, it looks miserable. Right away I can tell at least one of Kozilek’s Command, Sowing Mycospawn, or Glaring Fleshraker has got to go.

Printing a card that requires Ancient Tomb to be useful is wild.

These are some of my favourite videos! Hope to see more in the future!
Ask and you shall receive!
no more frog pack no more croaking if you got em
@19:00 "lightning bolt was a card that was recently unbanned" killed me
WotC has heard pur concerns about a four deck format and has addressed the situation by making it a two deck format.
Half way there!
Blast these matches straight into my retinas.
Wow that delver vs beans game was cool. Too bad that isn't what legacy will be about cause wizards refuses to make the changes necessary.
Maybe that's not what wotc wants legacy to be about
Exactly in time, love to see it❤
Very much appreciate the games and analysis of the fresh face of legacy.

play testing beans against delver as if beans doesn’t win every single time hahaha
very fun games tho, that’s my type of legacy
post-ban pack bolt em if you got em

Witherbloom is still a draw to black, especially now with Frog gone.
Just my guess

@19:00 what card did he mean when he said "lightning bolt was recently unbanned?"
Physic frog. It wasn't boltable, so people just stopped playing it.
If frog's discard ability phased it out instead of growing it, would it be an acceptable card?

So you know you grew up in the 90s when you say who dis? lol.
“New (blank), who dis?” Is a current day meme format. Though I did also grow up in the 90s.

Why is Arcum's Astrolabe banned in 3 formats?
Kozilek’s Command violates the colour pie. Making colourless mana is supposed to be a downside, not an upside. K Command is the most egregious violation because it plugs all the holes in the deck.
Awsome, lets see how legacy decks, which shouldnt be legal are navigated by EW paper goat Bosh.
The cowards at wotc need to unban memory jar
banning reanimate is a death blow
Ecobaronen calling Psychic Frog a “Fair Card” is like calling Dockside Extortionist a “Jank Enabler”.

yeah ngl this take was really surprising to hear, really doesn't seem like a defensible opinion

Psychic Frog died for Entomb/Reanimate's sins
Psychic Frog a sinful little shit on its own.
