      That wonderful CB125 really did an amazing job that day. No problem at all. Had she been fitted with off-road tyres she would have managed up that mountain no problem. She now has over 20 000miles on her clock. I use her everyday to work in all weathers. I change the oil once each year and throw some oil over her now and again. She is a great workhorse and has served me so well with next to no maintenance. The local kids call her "Susie"

      @@urbanfireblade little bikes are so much fun. In November last year I was riding my CB500X back from Croatia when I met a chap on a Honda MSX125 Grom. He was returning from Iran to Paris. The road we were on was as twisty as hell and this chap was racing like mad. I struggled to keep up with him on my CB500X. Small bikes are just so much fun. Be sure to watch my next few clips. Im riding Scotland to Turkey and beyond very soon

    My last bike was a Triumph Speed Triple but was sick of racing around everywhere. I was searching for a reliable go anywhere in all weathers kind of bike and I eventually settled on CB125F, can't believe that I actually went back to 125s but I actually love this little machine for the grin factor, low maintenance and cheap running costs.
    Brilliant bike!

      Was thinking the exact same looking at the cb 125 also. Got an 08 Street Triple 675, love the bike but the price of fuel is getting way out of hand, this little bike ticks alot of boxes. Would you recommend one? Thanks.

    Great effort in that snow and ice! A light bike like that is ideal for winter though my experiences of motorbiking in snow have generally ended up with me slipping around trying to lift a dropped bike on surfaces I can barely stand on! I'm fixing up an old YBR125 to act as a winter hack instead of my bigger bikes at the moment. This video is giving me bad ideas for when that's done!
    The joys of a Scottish winter, though here near Glasgow, winter is mostly just rain, muck and salt.

    • @Adventurescot
      @Adventurescot  4 роки тому

      I know that feeling of lifting a bike on slippery ice ;-) I see on your page you have an Enfield Classic?? I have the same bike and go all over Scotland in winter on her. However a few weeks ago she let me down and died at the side of the road. The fuel injection light was staying on permanently. I got her home and she would fire up and stall again after 20 seconds. While fiddling with her pipework I snapped the cheap plastic outlet pipe from the pump. I ordered a new pump and that seems to have fixed the problem. I still don't trust her even with the new pump so will be taking her for short trips around Edinburgh before i go off on adventure on her again.

      @@Adventurescot confidence in your bike does take a long time to build and moments to destroy! At least the RE is relatively simple to work on but that's no consolation at the roadside in winter.
      I've only done about 4000 miles on mine so far (2020 was a write off!) but it's been good over that. It was great on a trip to Orkney and the NC500 in 2019.

      @@beardypete You sure are right there. My Transalp has taken me almost right around the planet and never missed a single beat. She now has over 100 000 miles on her clock and is still going strong. The CB125F I am sure will do 50k easily and i trust her fully. The Enfield is easy to work on but needs constant attention. She reminds me of an old steam loco. Ultra reliable but needs attention such as oiled and greased and a few tweaks often ;-) I was looking at the Sinnis Terrain 125 as a little adventure bike for Scotland but again i'm not too sure about reliability. In the job I do I need ultra reliability to get to work on time and that is where the CB125F comes into hand.

      These little bikes are amazing. Mine is generally a go to work machine. Other than this trip in the snow it has generally never been away from Edinburgh. 18000 miles and oil changed 1 or 2 times each year and air filter this year for first time. I put a new DID chain on when new and that has virtually been it in 5 years. Great machines

      No chance, it goes in any weather and conditions. Last night it was about -6 up in the hills and as there was so much ice I decided to take the CB125 rather than my usual 750. It went along like it was just a normal day. I have ridden this bike through floods and all and it just keeps on going. As I retire next month I was going to get rid of it as its generally a work bike but have decided to keep it as its just so reliable and will go anywhere in any conditions

    This is AMAZING, do they use road salt in the places you ride? I am considering buying a cbf 125 for all year riding in Denmark, where we use road salt when it's cold and I'm afraid it corrosion will ruin the bike. How do you rust protect the bike? And do you think it will last 4 winters? (Then I'm fine with it's price)

    • @Adventurescot
      @Adventurescot  2 роки тому +1

      Hey buddy, they use road salt like mad here in Scotland but I just keep riding. This little CBF125 has been ridden every winter for about 6 years now and its still going. Last week I had to buy a new exhaust which cost nothing on Ebay. I think in all 6 years since I bought that bike I have washed it less than 10 times. Its my workhorse for work and winter roads like the one in this clip. Change the oil every 6 months and it will last years

      @joakimdam9723 2 роки тому

      @@Adventurescot that sounds really good, it's exacatly what i am looking for, it might be some of the cheapest motorized transportation possible for now. Do you protect the bike with WD 40 or some other rust protector?

    • @Adventurescot
      @Adventurescot  2 роки тому +2

      @@joakimdam9723 now and again I spray WD40 or 3in1 oil onto bits and pieces here and there that move but not very often. They seem extremely well built machines and stand up to the salt very well. Before this I had an MSX125 Grom which was great but it rusted away within about 3 years. However I did use that wee bike much more for adventures in the snow and ice. The d CBF is much better than the Grom in one respect in that it has a much larger fuel tank. The Grom would do 130miles and need re-filling while the CBF125 can manage300miles on a tank easily

    • @joakimdam9723
      @joakimdam9723 2 роки тому

      @@Adventurescot 300 miles on a tank is better than some small cars lol, very impressive. I think I might buy it, and spray xry rust protector on many of the parts exposed the the salt. How many months of the year do they use salt in Scotland?

    • @Adventurescot
      @Adventurescot  2 роки тому +1

      @@joakimdam9723 go for it, you will love it. I have just come back out of the big busy city on mine and its great. All the big cars racing away from the lights ahead of me and using loads of fuel. 30sec on they are all standing in the traffic again while I just ride passed and give them the /@=# ;-) Here in Scotland they just spread salt as and when required. It all depends on what winter is like. Once you go for a bigger bike then the CB500X is amazing. It will also do 300 miles p/tank. I am riding from Scotland to Turkey very soon
