@name3950 I think they meant he just takes his whole king facade to seriously not caring even if she's the king his own duties and desire are what he responds to first.
Exactly. How can she fail to realise that France and most of Europe saw Elizabeth as a bastard. At that point, the French royal family would've never allowed marriage between one of their members and Elizabeth.
In this show, definitely. In reality she absolutely knew how to act. Her family was not low born, and she was even part of the household of the Queen of France. The showrunners just wanted to show some fire between them.
Its crazy how insanely attractive this actor is compared to Henry. Its like they didn't try with visual aspect casting. ( this man is a wonderful portrayal though )
Henry was very attractive when young, but of course he he had reddish hair, which this actor does not. He did get bloated and repellent in his later years. He continued eating like the athlete he had once been, but he wasn't burning it off anymore.
For being a known attendant to two queens(Claude of France and Catherine of Aragon)Anne sure didn’t learn anything on act like a true queen. She would’ve been better as the wife to an Earl at best.
Arranged marriages is so sad as LOVE is something we Americans take for granted. Elizabeth I decided she'd marry England & she was such a loyal wife during her reign as she ruled most of the world being on the throne of a tiny isle. Amazing leader who got to chose who she married. Dont know how she did the Virgin part tho. 💜💃💜🌹😬
There is speculation that she was at least molested if not raped when she was a girl by a man who wanted to marry her to become king....according to the history channel it was "... Thomas Seymour, brother of the Lord Protector of England, less than a year after Henry VIII's death. Seymour was sexually inappropriate with Elizabeth, with his wife sometimes joining in" Dec 10, 2018. So Thomas Seymour AND his wife were pedophiles.....seemingly....so she likely was repulsed by any sexual contact(not like she could go to therapy) and her entire life she was only ever even mildly romantically linked with one man, Robert Dudley. So.......yeah.........
False. During Elizabeth I 's reign, the English Empire did begin to expand, most notably through exploration voyages by figures like Francis Drake and Walter Raleigh, laying the groundwork for future colonization efforts in the Americas and establishing the East India Company towards the end of her reign, marking the start of British involvement in Asian trade; although the empire itself was not as vast, as it would become later on. England's naval strength grew significantly during Elizabeth's reign, allowing for greater exploration and defense against other European powers. The English Navy was unmatched in her time, and soundly beat the Spanish Armada. 😮😮😮
@pamneel1094 Both those men ultimatly failed in settling any true colony. Especially Walter Raleigh. Any true lasting colonies came under the reign of James I.
Actually I've always heard that in his youth Henry VIII was described as fiery, handsome and charismatic. But after his joust incident, years passed and let's be honest the treatment of his wives his reputation changed
To be fair, it’s not her daughter who’s getting married to the emperor’s son…it’s Lady Jane, Catherine’s daughter. Which is why she’s so upset and says that it’ll be to Catherine’s favour. It doesn’t win Anne any points to have Jane married to the emperor’s son especially as Jane hates Catherine and only recognises her mother as the queen, viewing her as the king’s mistress.
Jane is not Catherine's daughter Mary. You know bloody Mary. That's her daughter Lady. Jane is going to be Henry's third wife and the mother of his son@@ReStartermusic
Why success over Catherine ?? Catherine never started a war with her lol she was the one completely obsessed with Catherine and the poor woman never did anything to her.
This is why in ancient China you have sayings like “后宫不能参政” because the emperor already has to deal with so many underlying problems at court. Having his wife/concubines interfere in that will only introduce more uncertainty to an already stressful role, especially when the women don’t go to court and therefore do not have enough information to properly judge whether something is right or wrong and can be easily misled. In this case, Anne doesn’t know what the rejection of the proposal entails and does not understand the bigger picture. It’s from this point on, as she continues to test Henry’s patience, that Henry starts to hate her. It’s unfortunate but politics is a complex , multi-faceted issue that Anne has failed to comprehend in this instance. To most royal families, daughters are pawns for marriage alliances and sons are heirs. You’re only as powerful as your marriage partner. Anne clearly understands this but again, has failed to realise that Henry does not care for a daughter because a daughter cannot inherit anything. When you’re a mistress who has bedded her way to power, you’ve already cemented your position below him and must remember that it is by his grace that you have the power you have now. Demand too much, and it’ll be the beginning of the end. Her primary objective should’ve been to make him happy and help him relax, then to be a mother to her children, especially as that is the role she had given herself when she became Henry’s partner
Blah blah blah. The men are the ones who refuse to treat the women as equals and instead as breeding stock, strategic pawns, and property. The men deserve every bit of the “stress” they brought unto themselves.
I agree with you, but I think at this point, he was already hoping for a son, and im hot water with the Catholic church and Pope. He already was resenting her, I think. She was just an out to his failed marriage with Catherine and lack of heir. I also agree on here treatment. She was a mistress, a home wrecker he allowed. Nobody really saw her as Queen. Although the new Protestant church was becoming bigger, everybody saw her and her daughter as illegitimate. She promised him sons and happiness, but now she can't provide peace or an heir. She was raised to understand politics from a woman's perspective. Not a man's. She should have been wiser instead of talking with him at the table since it just reminded him of the humiliation before his court. 😅 She was too pushy without any backing but himself. Easier to get rid of than Queen Catherine.
Idk, my idea of Anne is a bit confused. I suppose bc I seen Anne of a Thousand Days when I was a teen and was transfixed by Genevieve Bujold (I believe that was the French actress playing her) she was gorgeous and resembles Natalie Quite A LOT or vice versa. Her poitraits depict her as being so plain so I think they amp up her beauty bc she had to have been marvelously charismatic!!!
Anne I think at this point starts to realise the terror she has married into.
Right now he's being a King
@amyartwork22 Agreed. Early in their relationship he told her to always speak plainly with him. That he values her opinion. Something like that.
Yea, I agree with you

I love Anne's combo of dress, crown and earrings here. The blue shade really brings out the blue in her eyes.
In a way. Anne is wrong here. She wasn't born as royalty and didn't understand how to act
Exactly. How can she fail to realise that France and most of Europe saw Elizabeth as a bastard. At that point, the French royal family would've never allowed marriage between one of their members and Elizabeth.
Definitely
And it shows. She's still hung up on being petty.
Finally someone said it.

A great marriage indeed. Psychotic way to communicate 😅

This guy naturally looks menacing, he played Cassander in Alexander movie 😂
& he wasn’t even as handsome as the actor who played him.
He actually was handsome…until an accident permanently messed up his leg leading to him becoming brain damaged and later obese
Actually I've always heard that in his youth Henry VIII was described as fiery, handsome and charismatic. But after his joust incident, years passed and let's be honest the treatment of his wives his reputation changed
Truth he's much better looking than Henry ever could be
“Insulting” 😂 you say it’s also insulting that you that you can’t stand the fact she roasted you! 😂
They said Ann tried to do things FOR England
I get Annes point of View but if i were her i would actually see it as a success over Cathrine to get my daughter married to the emperors son 😎

She would've made a better Catherine of aragon. She has a similar facial structure to her and could have had her natural hair colour
