Good video, hear in northern california for ride days i pefer a 200t like you. My go work day saw is a a260 now a 261 and when nothing els will do a 460. Im really glad to see someone els pushing people to do there part and clear trail thank you.
Good review of the chainsaws! I ran a craftsman saw 16" bar since the late 80's but it wore out, no parts. Bought a Stihl MS193T 14" bar at the start of 21' and works great. Lots of down trees here in Northern California after the fires in 2018, they just keep falling after a good wind. I was going to put a 16" bar on the Stihl but I can cut a 26" log with the 14" bar so I haven't needed to go longer yet. I carry it on the back of a Honda XR400R with a homemade wood rack. Carry a folding saw on handlebars for the small stuff. Have to keep the trails open or will lose them!
It's funny you mentioned the 550XP as being a pain in the butt to run. Totally agree. I upgraded to the 550XP about 5-6 years ago from a 30 year old Husky Rancher. The Husky Rancher started easier than the 550 that has a decompression button on it.
Awesome video, I'm on the market for a chainsaw, straping it to my Husky TX300, I've beeb doing minor trail maintenace with my hand saw for years...time to step-it up! Thanks for the info, very helpfull...
Thanks for the vid!. Looking at getting into some trail clearing. Just got the Bill Dart CS mount, looking at the still 194T or the Echo 2511T. I would love to see some vids on sawing techniques and tree cutting safery.
Digging your channel. I currently run a single frankensaw made from a bunch of husky and poulan parts. It ended up at 10 and a bit for the power head and pulls a 20" bar with ease. Probably not a realistic for everyone, but I enjoy building saws and this will out cut a 261 and I only have about $150 in it. I was truly pleased how well that and the Bill Dart mount handle on some really brutal terrain!
Stihl MS200T alternative is the HolzfformaG111. Yeah it is a Chinese saw. You can use MS200T parts. I've been running one for awhile. Cut alot of deadwood around Sawmill over the last two seasons. Run a lot with the ISTA in southeast Idaho.
Great channel. For a future video could you discuss how-to put larger bar snd appropriate chain on ms194T snd MS261? What are the considerations for bigger bar snd how to be safe. Is there a larger EE mount for 20” bar ?
Look at the specs for any saw and it will tell you what you can run, for a 194 i max it out at 16” .325 chain, for a 261 for me it maxes out as 20” 3/8 chain, you could go bigger but you are sacrificing power. Like trying to throw a 18” rear tire on a crf50, you can do it but at what cost?, yes you can easily put a longer plastic scabbard on the EE rack
Since the 70s I have used McCullough, Poulan, Jonsered, Olympic, plenty of Stihl saws and Echo. The first two were the least reliable. I still own the others and are all equal in reliability except for the weight. My Stihl and Echo are much lighter.
Great video! I’ve been using the Stihl 170 this year and looking at the 194. Are top handle saws good for trail clearing & bucking trees? I like how compact they are.
Rear handles are nice for the leverage, but the amount of power the 194 has and the way it fits on a front rack is really noticeable better . I think most folks would feel a significant upgrade between a 170 and 194 🤘🤘
Excellent video. I'm glad my saw made the cut lol. Although I have the 193T.. I run the 14" bar, and added a few mods. The 193 is only 7bs with the 14" bar and she's a beast! I'm subscribed 🤙🏼
I've had no problems at all with the mtronic, regardless of the elevation.
great video man. Always great to get solid trail building and tool reviews!!

I will carry a lightweight 16" Echo starting this season. The days of carrying a heavy saw since the 70s are finally over at my age.

Rad!
The Bill Dart saw mounts are awesome. I use it on one bike and a different mount I built several years ago on another bike.

Good to know, thanks! Looking forward to more content. 👍🏼
I use both rear handle and top handle saws. I'm getting older now so I prefer the lighter top handle saw more often.

Any review on the Echo top handle? How’s it holding up?
Loving it so far! In my opinion there is no reason to spend extra on a ms201.
