  • Conditions were spectacular today for a flight over & around Fremont's Quarry Lakes Park. I also accomplished a major milestone during this flight; 1 full mile from take-off and never lost contact or control. Maximum height was 100 meters, (~330 feet). FPV was a bit flaky when I began my return because of the transmitter antenna but fortunately, I could still see well enough to see what I needed to do.

HOLY CRAP. So much water. So much green. Yeah, the California drought is very much a thing but wow, 2016 was a good year in terms of rain and it really shows in this video. Most of the time Quarry is usually just brown with dead plants, and although it still looks pretty, I really like this view better. I just wish I visited more often back then. Anyways, its almost kinda funny seeing as some of the trees are underwater and the Alameda Creek is way swollen and brown, likely from the extra water. Anywho, BEAUTIFUL video tho. Really captures the beauty of the whole place.

Well, I didn't know of any restriction back in 2016 although it may be different now. Some city parks have regulations against them due to "migratory bird flight paths". I don't know about this park though now.
