Very true. Slavic langueages are pretty similar. For example, I'm ukranian but I can mostly understand polish, though I never studied it.

Nobody wants to learn this language.The need is absent 1. You need it for work in the future? No. Perhaps few Americans win this war because Selensky took out loans from the US. He can't pay that back. The Ukrainian government has never repaid debts. ^^! The USA also accepts agricultural land, mines ...2. Do you need it for vacation? No. (The Ukrainian government has allowed uranium-enhanced ammunition and mines. 3. Selensky wants people to learn English. 4. Refugee Ukrainians are learning a language of the country. 4. In the world, people do not speak Ukrainian. It is not useful. 5. All old Ukrainian texts can be translated with Translator 6. It will be dangerous for Ukrainians to speak Russian. Then people will have to learn Ukrainian. That is a bad reason to learn a language. 7. EU rules will overwhelm you. Ye will hate the new rules 8. Ukrainians do not want to go back to Ukraine if they are integrated in other countries 9. Many Ukrainian children without parents are registered in Germany Also in Poland, France, Austria . Children will learn other languages 10. Selensky lets the men who speak Ukrainian die, demanding weapons and lives.

Hi Inna, it is obvious why more people would want to learn Ukranian now. So I just started the first two lessons of the Cyrillic alphabet, most difficult are the z as in pleasure and the letter that sounds like shch (fresh cheese). Will follow your videos to know more how your countrymen, women and children are doing and what we can do to help, most sincerely Willy🇺🇦🇹🇩
Hello / Привіт. letter З (z) is pronounced as "z" in zoo, zebra, zimbabwe... letter Ж (zh) is pronounced as French j in words je t'aime (i love you), bon jour (good morning) or it has similar sound as English "s" in pleaSure, aSia

I see that my native Serbian is much closer to Ukrainian than to Russian. very similar pronunciation without softening and both are phonetic. баба, ваза, небо, жаба, зуб, лампа, мама. these words are exactly the same written and pronounced in Ukr and Serb

@@Manticoruss it sounds very soft for my ears. sorry nothing personal. just dont like it despite studying it. i prefer more clear sounds and sharper sounding languages. the thing is i never realized that Ukraininan sounds far more similar to Slovak or Serbian in the way how it is pronounced

Almost all of the ukrainian examples in this video are slovak words as well (kava, zaba, mama, zub, nebo, dub, vaza,...). I didnt know we share so many words. Im looking forward to visit your beautiful country one day, Slava Ukraini!

I’m about to stop to speak russian language as well, at least for some time. Sometimes I feel disgusting speaking the same language with those, who committed and committing so much atrocities in Ukraine.
@Tomioka the loner I have nothing against the Russian people or their language, they are victims of Putin's folly too, I would rather, as a citizen of the free world support the economy of Ukraine.
By the way my grandfather was beaten by the Nazis when he was a prisoner in WW2 that didn't stop me learning German at school or Visiting Germany as an adult.
I have no problems with the Germans and have several German Friends.

Try learning Ukrainian and Russian, since they are extremely similar. It is possible! Im learning Ukrainian and German which have different alphabets and im doing it, so u could try both!

Interesting to hear that the use of ґ was actually forbidden. It is a very useful letter, at least in transliterating foreign names and words. Take Lady Gaga, for example. It is often spelt Леді Гага. This would read as Lady Ha-ha, if you were not aware of the proper pronunciation. Not very nice.

Learning the Ukrainian alphabet us useful for pronouncing Slavic names correctly that are written in the Roman alphabet.
I started learning Ukrainian due to the war. I would have studied it anyway, but this made me do it before. Since today in class I have a new Ukrainian classmate, so I thought, why not to learn Ukrainian to talk to her?

What makes this language a bit more easy for me is because a lot of the letters have the same sound in Spanish (i also know Portuguese and french) .Btw it was Kool seeing and hearing my name in Ukrainian.

Sweet Inna you dont read Ukrainian language, you read Ukrainian text, you speak Ukrainian words and sentences and you hear Ukrainian sounds. I know your English is always going to be bit funny and sttutery that is an issue with all of us when speaking non native languages. But your work is superb. Keep it up. I have to help the war refugees so I am learning it in a hurry.

Thank you, Inna! I am teaching English online to a young woman in Kyiv and in turn I want to learn Ukrainian. My grandparents here in the US spoke Slovak when I was a child so I picked up an ear for pronounciation -- however, reading in Ukrainian is a challenge. As a retired teacher of 40 years, I completely agree with your stress on the importance of learning to read a new language along with learning to speak it. While it is difficult trying to learn two new things at once, it's essential if you're ever going to be fluent. Also essential for travel, because you'll encounter a lot of written information. So thank you, your pacing and explanations are excellent. I look forward to future lessons!
Hi, Ukrainian is one of the easiest languages to READ as every letter has a unique sound and does not change! Once you learn the letters it is easier to read than English and WAY easier than Chinese where you have to remember every character!

Oh, gosh. I love the way you pronounce VOWELS. I'm not making fun..very endearing. I'm learning. But slow. I do know some of the greek alphabet so some of the letters look familiar. Like delta for example. Amazing how different cyrillic is! Wonderful! I hope you're staying safe.
Very well presented. Learning Ukrainian will be my next long term project.
