Great review, man. One of the classics from Windlass.
Hopefully this video drums up some interest to get these re-issued!

Thanks! That's one of the reasons I wanted to do a review of this sword. It's really a shame that Windlass discontinued it.

Thank you! I'll probably get to reviewing them, but for now I'm cutting my teeth on more budget oriented swords.

Nice review, Kyle. Cold Steel contracted Windlass to revise the design on this one to make a broader blade, a longer grip and a scentstopper pommel and sell them as Cold Steel Competition Cutting swords. I have a review coming soon.

Interesting, and good to know. Looking up the competition cutter, it's interesting that they chose to go from the 1065 to 1050. Without having handled the Cold Steel version, I think I'd prefer the Arbedo. The styling is much closer to the original (though not nearly as refined as the original), and I like the hand-and-a-half grip - I think adding length to the grip puts the competition cutter in a weird place with a ~30" inch blade on a full two-handed grip.
Still, the fact that the blade is still being produced might mean it'd be easier to convince Windlass to bring the Arbedo back.

@@alientude Indeed. The new grip length always makes you think you were holding a longer sword. Also the blade moves in a bit of a weird way, perhaps due to the weight distribution (no distal tapering, and the point of balance being too close to the hilt). Nevertheless, having an even broader blade makes it cut a bit better. I do like to see the more faithful version of Arbedo come back, perhaps alongside the new offering.

The scabbard is all leather, no wood and the white powder stuff is leather coming off the flesh side of the hide. Similar to a rapier scabbard.

Yeah, I found that out after recording this review, and looking at it again, it's pretty clear that it's just leather. Thanks for clarifying though!

I like that that sword a lot. Wish I could get one 😪. I guess I have to hope for another special run.

They show up on the secondary market from time to time. Keep your eyes peeled and you might find one.

Good review, man. Sorry if I missed it in the video, what was the weight in hand?

Thanks! It weights right around 2 lbs 14 oz, or about 1300g.
