      I think the Ranch seasoning you used contains dairy. Many seasonings contain meat and/or dairy ingredients. Natural flavoring can be from a plant or an animal also. When you see that you need to contact the company and check. You should always check every label. :)

    It seems like a lot of people have already said it but the ranch dressing packets all contain milk. It's so important to check those labels because milk gets incorporated into so many things. Keep going with this channel. We are all learning and trying our best! It's wonderful that you swapped. Mistakes are to be expected. Just keep going!!!

    New subscriber here and I love your approach to eating vegan. I’m over 70 and have tried several times to change my diet, with failing each time. Even tried to change to vegetarian back in the 70s when our children were young. Again, not successful back then either. Hubby is on board and we’re determined to get healthy and change our diet to vegan. Your recipes look so much easier than most and readily available ingredients. Thank you and God bless you, Linda

    To improve digestion with beans make sure to stay away from the broth in the cans (dispose and rinse the beans). Also, be careful when preparing dry beans. With dry beans, throw away the soaking water, bring to boil with fresh water; after a short boil (1 - 2 minutes) throw away that water as well (very important) and then cook normally. Adding pre-soaked dried Ancho Chillies will also boost the flavor of your beans to the sky.

    Uncle Dan's Original Southern Classic Ranch dressing mix does not contain milk, although it does have maltodextrin and a bit of sunflower oil. But be careful of Uncle Dan's Creamy Ranch mix since it contains both buttermilk and whey. It's much cheaper to make your own herb/spice blend. @@CharGC123 it's optional. Even I don't always use them, like when I know I'm going to enjoy some right away rather than refreezing.
      When I do, however, I only add a tablespoon or two of mylk cashew or almond butter to a full batch--really, that's all it takes--and certainly, I don't chow down on the whole container in a sitting. It's a minimal addition of calories and fat per serving, and frankly, for weight control, it's better to avoid the bananas and make a berry sorbet, anyway. (I actually prefer it! Soo refreshing!) I like having bites of banana nice cream here and there when my running miles climb, particularly in the summer, and I need more calories.

      @@dalairem I was obese most of my life until going WFPB, but even though i lost over 100 lbs 10 years ago the last 50 won't budge. I have the metabolism of a slug and have mobility issues too, so my exercise options are minimal, which sucks.
      I'm with you on the sorbets! I'm probably the only person in the world who is not at all a fan of ripe bananas, to me they taste like paint thinner or nail polish smells. But they're not as bad when frozen, especially mixed with other stuff. It may sound weird but lately I've been making "nice cream" with frozen roasted sweet potatoes and/or frozen cooked oatmeal or beans replacing most of the banana, with added cocoa, PB2, and dates to sweeten if needed. Maybe not as smooth as plain banana, but it sneaks in other healthy (and cheap) foods, and actually tastes better to me .

With that they will not consume it. I understand they do not want to drink a glass of milk but why would they not have something that contains only a tablespoon of powder that only has a fraction of bad stuff that will be split among many people? @@918scott Hi, I've been vegan for close to 10 years and vegetarian for most of my life before that. Here's my perspective as an ethical vegan, however, I am also health and nutrition focused.
      I would not eat some thing with even a small amount of milk or honey or any animal product because;
      1 It's an ethical choice for me not to consume, wear, or use animals in any way. I believe it is wrong to exploit animals so I decline to partake *whenever possible*. For example, my medication contains lactose. I've asked my doctor for an alternative but everything he checked contained dairy. I don't like it but I don't have much choice if I want to stay alive.
      I do have a choice when it comes to food, clothing and entertainment. I won't exploit animals if there's any way around it.
      2 I stopped seeing animal products as food and instead see milk as a bodily secretion and pretty gross (not trying to be rude, it's just how I see animal products) If your kids have watched documentaries about animal agriculture they can be pretty shocking and can leave one seeing dairy/meat in a very different light.
      3 Because it's a slippery slope when it comes to eating plant based. Animal products are everywhere and if a teaspoon is ok here & there then you might end up back to eating the Standard American Diet before you know it.
      I am not here speaking for all vegans or plant based folks, just how I would feel. Your kids might see things very differently.
      I think it's fantastic that you are making the effort to support their choices and understand their perspective.

    • @918scott
      @918scott Рік тому +1

      @coroleva100 That makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to write all that. It's refreshing to be educated about one's feelings towards something these days without being screamed at.
      The perplexing part is my kids have made it clear that they do not base their choice off of ethical reasons but for health reasons. That's the part I don't understand.
      My wife and I will have them over for dinner and we prepare a vegan meal. At times, rather than asking the ingredients that were used, they ask to look at any bottles or boxes that might have been used to make sure it doesn't have trace amounts of milk, cheese, egg, and so on.. It's like having to pass an exam and wondering if we're going to scrap everything right before we sit down to eat. It's kind of frustrating and exhausting making you NOT want them to come over as much anymore. Here's an observation that I have.. They'll go to a vegan or plant-based restaurant and they won't ask the tour the kitchen and look at all there packaging but you have to do it the family. This is when my common sense kicks in and says, I guarantee you if they toured these kitchens they're going to find something that was used they do not like.
      I am sure that some may consider me a hypocrite because I look at the back of food packaging in the store before purchasing it to make sure it doesn't have highly refined products in it including some of the stabilizers known to cause cancer because my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer due to environmental reasons, not hereditary connections. It seems like 50% of the time they do contain those products but we still buy them because we do not want to live in fear over these trace amounts but rather educate ourselves and be smart as possible about choices verses what most people do by consuming absolutely everything not knowing anything.
      Until we are farmers and can grow everything and be 100% sustainable, we put our trust in God to protect us. (With earthly common sense applied of course!)
      Merry Christmas and have a wonderful prosperous New Year!
