In this episode I build strong 3/4” plywood sides and get the roof attached. - Навчання та стиль
Looks like something I would do. When there is a will there is a way
For sure! I love building this as well.
I like the way you doing step by step and your illustration
Thank you! Yeah I like laying this out so others might get some ideas to build one.
Enjoying your video. You made me smile. Thanks.
Thank you! I am glad I was able to brighten your mood. :)
All things , such as trailers of all sorts and tiny houses and sheds that are manufactured in mass quantities are always gonna be out of square! These trailers are put together on a jig and then the parts and pieces are attached after it comes together.
The more and more the jig is used. It will get stretched warped and just weakened. And that is why your trailer/ camper is worn out and 3/4 of an inch off.
Totally makes sense. I’ve had an RV repair shop tell me these homemade rigs are built better too lol 😂
I got to the point where he recommends Stainless Steel to fasten aluminum. Might be a better choice as aluminum and Stainless steel react and cause corrosion. I don't remember exactly but I think Cadmium plated hardware is preferred I am enjoying watching his build. Video quality, he speaks clearly, easy to follow, etc. very well done.
Yeah you are right, between 2 unlike metals like Aluminum and Stainless, lesser metals like Aluminum will corrode if there is an electrolyte such as salt water to create electrolysis between the metals. I am hoping I do not have this issue since its not in the water a lot. I used what I had from my local hardware store, I was thinking of using galvanized steel too, I just have had really great luck with stainless in the past. Thank you so much for all the positive comments! This was a very fun build and I am still adding to it even though its pretty much finished now. If you haven't Please Subscribe so you can keep up to date. Happy New Year!
I did subscribe, yesterday. You have a gift. You clearly show how to do something, then fast forward to next step. great editing, keep the action moving. Smooth and humorous voice. Happy New Year to you. @@Jeep-Creep
@@hueypilot1950 Thank you! It honestly has been a lot of practice that helps my editing, pace, camera presence. Believe it or not the video work is probably nearly 1/2 or more of the work. Often I will film something that might take a whole day. Condense it down into as little as 15min. I enjoy this work a lot and keep a sense of humor I hope all my viewers get. I really appreciate this kind of feedback, let's me know I am doing something right. It's very hard to become popular on UA-cam to earn enough money to make it worth wild. Sure there are lots of UA-camrs that earn a small fortune but they are very few. Anyways Happy New Year and I hope 2024 is awesome for you and yours!
😂 Gotta love the 10 year highs and 10 year lows of Michigan!
They used to take about 20 years to cycle all the way through, but now they do what they want!
Wait 5 minutes they sat!😂😂😂😂
I miss living in Michigan so much!
It is the only state with 5 seasons in the year.....
Winter
Spring
Summer
Fall
And of course
Construction.😉💯
Oh man you said it! Weather is crazy. I have seen many other states but Michigan is my favorite still. Please Subscribe and follow my updates
My whole life in Michigan I don't know of anyone from here that uninteeget as my man if he was drunk I would of understood that thing wouldn't last one of our pot holes tried to be as nice as I could
It looks cool to me
thank you! yeah its coming along nicely so far, stay tuned I will be doing more work on it over the holidays
Sure wish I was there to give you a hand…but great job.👍
I think you are the first person to realize just how hard it is to do this by yourself. It is seriously harder than twice as hard, probably 3 or 4 times as hard without 2 people. I reached my goal though and turned a piece of junk into something nice. I am itching to do another one, I really would like to start with a 6x12 frame vs this itty bitty 6x6. I would like to do a permanent bed and a fixed bench seat table, with a wet/shower bathroom. This one came in at 1600lbs, which tows nicely. Pretty sure I could pull off a 6x12 with all the extras under 2500lbs which is still nice for a mid-size SUV tow even though I have a Tahoe pulls easy, but superlight is nice for MPG. Extra room would be nice for sleeping more than 1 person as well. Stay tuned though, I have a few things to improve on this build... just finishing up Solar system and working to improve Chinese Diesel heater noise reduction, and finish my water system. I would like to setup for a hot shower system, which will have to be outside maybe, unless I come up with a super mini-system inside. I have ideas, I have see Van campers do it.
I love challenges but I was just simply call 3 friends to help me put the top on in less than 3 minutes.
Ahh your lucky I don’t have friends at my disposal. Please Subscribe
I'm building something very similar, was procrastinating because of the snow. Guess I better head down to the lumber store haha
Nice! I highly recommend this build! It’s fun, easy, and inexpensive. What kind of trailer are you starting with, how big is it? I would love to see photos of your project. They are fun to do and lots of Facebook groups too on this subject.
@Jeep Creep it's an old 7x8 tent trailer, it's quite an interesting thing, I've never seen one so heavy duty. The sides are more metal than tin. I will keep video and pics of the whole build and time line, and mabye throw them up.
@@sockymcblackface7698 for sure I am interested in watching your progress. Sounds like a bad ass trailer! I love the older stuff it’s heavier duty than it needed be so the axles will take the extra weight easy. Mine has tin sides but the frame is very heavy which I like. 7x8 is a good size in my book. I am solo camping in mine with just a single twin Murphy style bed. I look forward to seeing what kinda layout you go with.
Good job. Peace ✌️
Thank you 🙏
lo felicito por su ingenio y linda que esta quedando
Thank you !
Use clamps, that will hold it in place 😊
I used some L brackets and it worked pretty good. Thanks for the tip! ☺️
Where's part 2? Like to see what you did to finish this one.
Well it's a whole series, this is a link to the whole playlist of my camper build series.

I do a little at a time, so some videos might be a different section than others.
Ooh wow. Yeah I had previously seen this video already. It must of been a bit of a nightmare trying to do that by yourself.
Hmm.. and now that i think of it, I don't even have that tree 🤣😅🤦♀️.
Can't wait to see how MY trying to build this will be.
Depending on how bad your roof is you might not have to remove it.
@@Jeep-Creep i believe my roof is fine. I was just thinking money wise.. reselling the whole system together. I'm not sure how it works. I am still studying the case 😅. 🙃
In time I will decide. But your idea is awesome. I just would have loved an overall...redo. for what's upper part. That's all. More money I know. Indeed.
@@LRDReadings with a solid roof it should be much easier
@@Jeep-Creep you mean a new roof or my old roof? Sorry ..not sure I understood.
@@LRDReadings oh you said your roof is fine. I had to take mine off and put it back on which is hard. If your roof is in good shape you can put new walls in without removing it.
I know it’s been awhile but why didn’t you turn the front wheel
Oh when I dragged it, it just kept getting stuck... I could have kicked it in place probably, but it was cold and I think I just got lazy.
Why didn't you just pull it with your car???
Because I was using my car to winch the roof up the tree. I have a hand crank winch I attached to my bumper. Plus the camper isn’t too heavy to move by hand.
What size plywood are you using
They are 4x8 sheets of 3/4” plywood. I used 4 of them for the sides
@@Jeep-Creep awesome thank u for the info 🤟🏿
Looks like the undercarriage needs nore love than your giving it before the remodel
You are right! I did bring it to a camper shop to give me the all clear on the suspension. They repacked the bearings, approved my weight, made sure it’s road worthy. The surface rust needs to be addressed. One of the main reasons I waited on addressing is because I wanted to figure out the gray and fresh water tank locations first. Also I need to figure out the diesel heater pump location. It makes a ticking sound and I need to move it a third time. Check my latest videos for progress. It’s winter now so I will handle the underside in the spring. I think I will wire wheel the underside, use a etching primer, then paint. After paint probably add a truck bed liner after it cures. Since I am in Michigan I want to make sure it stands up to the humidity and salt if I winter camp.
@@Jeep-Creep just don't wanna see your work goto waste. I converted a full size 78 Thomas school bus and got half as much time out of it due to rust and undercarriage problems best of luck
@@retropalooza thank you for the look out. For sure I will address it and take your advice of avoiding a pitfall
@@Jeep-Creep ahhh just being a nit picker. Been there done that. It's great to make your own you just don't get the professional no worry quality new buys have. Best of luck
LoL .
Good times!
Don't you have any friends who can come over and help you with your hairbrained schemes? I mean, that's a dude thing bruh. If one of my buds were to call and say come help me put a roof and walls on this camper, I'd jump at the chance just to have some good material for jokes down the road. LOL!
Sadly my friends are all too busy for my shenanigans. I wind up doing more and more solo. Kinda sucks. I need to make more friends but being married and taking care of my household and family takes up most of attention. I squeeze in crazy projects left and right. Maybe it’s just a result of getting older and more responsibilities. Not sure. I had so much more time 20 years ago. I am going to aim at spending more fun time with friends this summer, the camper is a part of that. Going to hit more campgrounds and chill with the crew. I think most of my friends also are not the project type either.
