I’ve made these before, and they’re pretty good! They’re easy to make and super addictive. Both of them have a bit of chocolatey bitterness so if you don’t like dark chocolate bars, I’d suggest substituting a small amount of the cocoa powder for (sifted in) icing sugar, and do only a very light dusting of cocoa powder on the outside. If dark chocolate is your thing, stick with the original. Since the recipe is so simple you can experiment with proportions and find your favourite, personally I like it the way it is.
The square ones are much softer and less bitter, but because of this they must be eaten straight out of the fridge or they can be quite messy. Still a tasty treat nonetheless, smooth, rich, and chocolatey. 9/10 somewhat of a mess to make and eat.
The round ones are more bitter, much firmer... in fact, I’d say they’re almost a tad crumbly, but in a good way. They can be left out a bit longer and cleaner to eat, plus you roll it so there’s no mold or knife to clean. 10/10, easy cleanup, and bitter chocolatey goodness.

@@empresscarrot5417 I wouldn't say they MELT, but I wouldn't trust the square ones to hold their form in any heat. They get pretty gooey and soft, still entirely edible but as I said, quite the mess. The balls held up much better being left out of the fridge.

The are yummy for sure.As for the sugar,is better to ''teach''our taste buds to be satisfied with less sugar and salt ,especially as we get older. Our tastebuds change every 20 days. It's a common misperception that we can't cut off sugar or salt.We see it all the time to patients with high blood pressure that reduce their salt intake. If they eat a homecooked meal with regular salt after 1 month, they find it salty.Esp in US sodium intake with all that processed food is ridiculus and dangerous guys, try to cook ur meals always. As for our sweet tooth, always prefer stevia over sugar.Sugar is a fuel for cancer cells and very inflammatory.

    • @jadecoolness101
      @jadecoolness101 2 роки тому +2

@@RiaNutritionist Stevia isn't much better tbh.. Reducing sugar intake is good, but this is a dessert. Desserts are supposed to be in moderation alrready, so adding sugar isn't much of a problem.

The only difference is that the recipe needs margarine or butter and is taken to the stove, after that, wrapped with sprinkles! It was great to learn a different way 😊

Im gonna try the first way he did it so heres what you do/need:
160g sweetened condensed milk 40g cocoa powder
    - prep a small pan -
-pour condensed milk in a. bowl and heat in microwave for 30 seconds
    -sift cocoa powder
-mix together: repeat until all cocoa powder is fully combined
    - put it in a small pan or box thing with plastic wrap (I tried dusting the wrap with cocoa power to make it easier to take out)
    -refrigerate for 1 hour
-take out of box pan thingy and put it on to a cocoa powder dusted work surface
-slowly and carefully take off the plastic wrap and dust it with cocoa powder to keep from sticking to your hands
-cut into squares and shape them a little afterwards
    ✦Bam✦ you're done!

Everyone in the comments calling this cultural appropriation should do some research. Cultural appropriation is a real issue and this isn’t it. This is a chocolate treat. Many cultures have variations of this. You’re reaching.

      Why is cultural appropriation a
big issue.. i am aware that especially in the US the innerleft Discourse on this topic is very prominent. Yet its utter bs.
Implying that a culture comes with certain properties, values, traditions or practies and that those shouldnt transcend into other cultures is in itself a reactionary and conservative argument. Every Individual is Master of his own actions and practices and its in no way progressive to label certain Pracitices as "Property of Culture A" or "Property of Culture B". postmodernist pseudoprog nonsense.

    • @gorlgoyle
      @gorlgoyle 4 роки тому +30

Hi! I welcome a respectful conversation about this. It’s not about ownership; it’s about lack of understanding or respecting the original culture. It’s very contextual.
I like this quote: “A deeper understanding of cultural appropriation also refers to a particular power dynamic in which members of a dominant culture take elements from a culture of people who have been systematically oppressed by that dominant group.”
I hope this explains my perspective as a person of color! I think a lot of aspects of this topic are taken out of context or blown out of proportion and it can be hard to filter out what’s right from wrong. I usually wouldn’t tell a person of color or a different culture that they’re “wrong” to be offended about something, but in the context of this video, I feel people are really overreacting.

    • @PrimoSchnevi
      @PrimoSchnevi 4 роки тому +7

@@gorlgoyle But my point is this: By ascribing a practive or property to i.e. people of colour you are yourself imposing a matrix of expectations on the individuals that find themselves in this group even though they might not consider it part of their identity. The Idea of a culture owning and guarding those certain practices is cultural relativism imo.
Max Czollek i.e. gave an interesting twist on this in his book "Desintegriert euch" (desintegrate yourself, i dont know if it has been translated) as he described how it is expected from him as a jew to behave in certain ways or have a certain relationship or opinion to some topics.
If Subjects which find themselves subsimized in a group and generalized from the out- or the inside it is best to negate the framing in itself. To reject the notion that certain practices belong to certain cultures. To avoid the "mixture" of Cultural practices is exactly what folkish natonalist, reactionaries and likeminded people are after.
A free society with free individuals should oppose such division alltogether.
I am sorry, in my own language i have a lot to say on this topic and would be far more convincing. Its tough to discuss it in a foreign language

Primo Schnevi I think you and I agree that culture “mixture” is not something that should be avoided! I think it’s about the individual’s mentality towards other cultures’ rituals/traditions/practices.
I think you described your point of view quite well, so don’t apologize! You clearly have done research about this unlike others who blindly try to defend an argument they don’t really understand. Thanks for the link; I’ll check it out and see if I can find a way to translate it. :)

To people who don’t have microwave..
    1) put a pot with water to boil
    2) put a bowl with holes on top of it
    3) inside the bowl put your heat resistant cup with condensed milk inside it.
    4) move it around slowly with a spoon until it’s the consistency you want it to be ..
That’s what I did and it worked :)

I’ve been seeing a lot of comments that this is brigadeiro, and that cooking tree should have credited it. Let me make my point. Firstly, his recipe is really simple, which means that he could have easily thought of it by himself. Secondly, he usually credits recipes from other countries, like with the swedish princess cake, so if he didn’t credit brigadeiro it probably means he didn’t know about it. Thirdly, according to google, a traditional brigadeiro is made using condensed milk, chocolate powder and butter. Cooking tree made it way differently. He only used two ingredients and two only(condensed milk and cocoa powder)and he didn’t cook it. Every time someone points out a difference, you say that brigadeiro can be made in many different ways. Well if it has so many variations, it would be really easy to make something similar to it without knowing right? Fourthly, he clearly said in the title ‘chocolate truffles’ which means he was making chocolate truffles(or maybe he was making a variation of it), not brigadeiro. Thank you for reading.
Also, just to make a comparison, there is a dish in Korea called bibimpab where you basically mix rice and other ingredients (which are highly variable) with no cooking. You could add spicy sauce or meat, whatever, and still call it bibimpab. If someone mixed rice with some ingredients and said it was another recipe I would understand because 1. I know that it’s entirely possible for people to not know what bibimpab is, since it’s not widespread outside of Korea, and 2. Because there aren’t any specific ingredients or steps when making bibimpab so it’s easy to accidentally make something similar to it. Some people are just assuming that cooking tree plagiarised then passed it off as his own and insulted koreans, which offended me.

The 2:1 batch was a solid brick when I pulled it out of the fridge, I actually had to microwave it just to make the balls, but it was still delicious and I would've been much happier with the extra step of kneeding it with hands had it been my only batch. @@cosmosbeyond431 Brigadeiro is basically condensed milk and chocolate powder.
      Here's a recipe I'll translate for you:
      www.receitasnestle.com.br/receitas/brigadeiro
      395g condensed milk
      2 tablespoons chocolate powder
      1 tea cup chocolate sparkles
Mix the condensed milk and chocolate powder while heating in a pan, always mixing without letting it stick to the pan, in low heat, for arround 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove it from the stove, let it cool down, preferably on a plate greased with butter.
When it's cold, make small balls of the mix using your hands and roll the ball on a cup of chocolate sparkles
There, brigadeiro... condensed milk + chocolate powder

Do NOT forget to microwave the condensed milk, and do NOT add too much of the powder at once. Both of these can result in it being MUCH thicker than it should be. I did both of these things, and it was impossible to mix. I was fine at first, but towards the end of adding the cocoa powder, I had a bit more than I should have added at once. I tried to add all that I had left at once, and I COMPLETELY regretted it. It all got stuck inside of my whisk, it wouldn't mix, it was AWFUL. It was a bit of a blessing, though, because it led to me calling my grandma into the room and asking her how to fix it. She tasted it while we were trying to figure it out, and it led to us realizing the other big mistake I had made...
DO NOT USE EVAPORATED MILK INSTEAD FOR THIS. I didn't realize that there's a difference between evaporated milk and condensed milk, so I sent my grandma to the store to buy it for me(she and my mom are the shoppers of the household). If I had known, I would have been more specific. She picked up evaporated milk instead, and when I looked it up, Google just said that the difference was that condensed milk had sweetener in it, and evaporated milk didn't. I wrongfully assumed it couldn't be that much sweetener, so there must not be that much difference! I tried making it with what I had, and it tasted AWFUL. It was one of the most bitter things either of us have ever tasted in our LIVES. So if you're trying to make this at home, PLEASE don't try to make it with evaporated milk instead like I did!
We're going to the store tomorrow to try and find CONDENSED milk, which we will MICROWAVE like the recipe says, and then we'll add the cocoa powder SLOWLY. I'm hoping that does better than it did today! I'm really looking forward to trying these once we have the RIGHT ingredients.

@@cocoaicci_ If I'm honest, I didn't. She did. I asked her to pick it up when she was at the store that day, and she insisted that they were the same thing and gave me the "oh here we go" look when I tried to tell her that evaporated milk wasn't what they said to use in the video
See I'm autistic, so I'm very particular about phrasing. When she got something that she believed was the same thing and heard me saying that it was different, she assumed it was like when something asks for kosher salt and I say we can't use regular. Something that would technically make very little difference, but the change would make me feel like I did something wrong.
I will say, it WAS fun to say "see? I TOLD you they weren't the same!" after she finished rinsing her mouth out to get rid of the taste.

@@anonymouse903 this channel is Korean, it is not that unlikely that they did not know brigadeiro, as I said. I'm from Germany, and I also didn't know about its existence until I just recently stumbled upon it while looking for different truffle recipes. Also, if the person knew brigadeiro, it could just be that the person realised it's not the same as the original recipe for it, and decided to just call this simply by "chocolate truffle " to avoid people telling them it's wrong to do them like that. Anyways, I don't mind people mentioning once, that this is similar to the traditional Brazilian dessert, as to inform the video maker, and also viewers. But it's saddening me that almost everyone is repeating that and ONLY talking negatively about how this person claimed wrongly, cooked wrongly, or how one is better than the other, and making Brazilians look like a bunch of offended bullies. I have a Brazilian friend, so it's not like I have a grudge against them. Just against these commenters here lol. Here in Brazil we call it brigadeiro. It is one of the most traditional deserts we have. Instead of using microwave we cook the condensed milk mixed with chocolate and a litlle bit of butter on, mixing it all the way until it gets the right texture. It doesnt't need to go to the fridge, but you can also do that.
