      Probably not much better either way. She'd be better off if she had kept the suburban she fixed up for her dad. Maybe find a early 90's k2500 model diesel 4x4 with some rear AC so you can just let it idle when you want to be offgrid and then you got AC and heat. Add a generator setup. The front brakes are about the only thing I would check into an upgrade and maybe replace the unibearings. The detroit's in the gm products were not power houses but they were reliable, just carry spare oil because I've never known a Detroit diesel that didn't leak, lol.

      Since when does this one consider the sensible road? Then watch her instadefend making irrational decisions, then scream when it's time to deal with her self induced consequences. This is the kind of comment, this one right here, that sends one like this through the roof. It may sound cute and entertaining to couch potatoes who suggest an "armored vehicle" whatever the crap that means, but Miss Morgan has no idea of the consequences of that choice. There are armored vehicles that haul money around, then there are armored military surplus vehicles. Either would be the worst possible choice and if anyone asks why, it would be wasted breath to attempt to explain...they are the type who "don't listen to anyone" anyway.

Buddy of mine picked one up for around 6k and put another 4k into it to make a pretty cool tow vehicle for his overlading trailer. Definitely scores higher on the badass scale than a bronco IMHO. I would also stay away from an armored truck as all that extra weight puts a lot of stress on the frame. I have seen several where the frame failed long before the powertrain.

      Alot of the M35s that were auctioned off, were low mileage. The downside to them is the horrendous mileage, low top speed, 24v electrics, and the nearly deafening can noise(you have to earpro when driving). The upside compared to an Ambulance is their ability to go nearly anywhere.
      A third option is to look for a decent low mileage chassis can and plunk a basic overland box on it, and finish it out herself. I will point out that this is probably the most expensive option, but has the least drawbacks.

    I have an ambulance that we converted to a camper/race trailer puller. It was a bunch of work but it's totally cool! It has a shower, microwave and refrigerator inside and a full kitchen in an outside compartment. It gets about 12 mpg at 65 mph (7.3 Turbo diesel) holds 30 gallons of fresh water with a 15 gallon grey water tank. There is tons of real estate on top for solar panels and cargo baskets. About the rear heat and AC. In an ambulance the main engine has to be running for it to work

    • @Bear-cm1vl
      @Bear-cm1vl 3 роки тому

      6-8 MPG average, all of the AC systems and electrical systems are run from the engine (that's why they don't shut down the engines at a scene), half of the storage space is accessed from the outside (both good and bad, depending on what you want/need, but a problem for stealth), not nearly as much storage inside the treatment area as you might think and they are difficult to adjust to the width difference between the cab and the box (lots of crushed corners on the type 3 box as well as clearance lights shinning right in your side mirrors), and they are far from cheap even when used. They are great for their purpose, but less than ideal for other mods.

    Don't get an armored truck. Hard riding, fuel-guzzling leviathans that break down often due to the weight...plus, most of them are diesels and diesels are expensive to run and maintain. Drove one for a while when I was in school. Killed my back and they get roughly 3-4 gallons to the mile.
    IF you must, get an ambulance from a smaller town. Less wear-n-tear, and they have superduty electrical systems due to all the lights and medical equipment they are loaded with. Large-larger city EMT vehicles are brutalized during their lifetime, and aren't worth repairing as a general rule. They are diesels as well, for the most part, but tend to be smaller (think pickup truck) diesel that have been upgrades. Also, avoid ANY Ford 6.4 motor as they self-destruct with alarming regularity and do so catastrophically - ask me how I know. Don't be fooled by the exceptions, as that is what they are. Ford 6.0 diesel can be bulletproofed, but it ain't cheap.
    My 2 pennies. I enjoy your show.

    Funny how looking for info on the new Bronco got me here but a friend of mine lived in a cube van for 3 years about 30 years ago. He traveled for about a year across Canada then got a good job which let him stay in the back parking lot with access to power. He put windows in it, insulated it, deck on top, he built a somewhat heated inside shower that ran off a roof tank that was set in an old propane BBQ, a kick ass stereo system for the time, 2 dogs and a cat that he kept losing but found eventually each time. They usually have direct access to the cab from the back as well though I can't remember if he closed it off or not. It's doesn't have the cachet of a Bronco or armoured truck and is somewhat unwieldy but it has the space and will fit in most parking spots.

    How about a HALF bus? The small bus used for small town school departments? There is room enough for you to stand up, plenty of room for a two burner LP gas stove, solar panels on the roof for power, perhaps a solar hot water heater. A built in proper shower and commode. All these things and it will STILL fit in a standard parking space. Plus a bed that will allow both your weinerdogs and you to sleep comfy. My suggestion is to get one that's already gutted and do the conversion yourself. CAREFULLY, so you can remain safe and do the work RIGHT!! You can get that fellow who did your brakes to advise you on the mechanical work. There are a whole bunch of folks out there who do this and will be happy to give you pointers on the inside work. I believe you can do it.

      Yes, they are heavier than a class C but because of that, they will hold up much better than a class C especially for someone full timing. An ambo would have to be reconfigured for full timing however where a class C would be turn key but I think Morgan is very capable of doing the work. At this point, just keep painting the flags and other merchandise, do endless Patreon showers scenes for the lonely dudes out there, and live a nice life. If you want a nice new vehicle, why not look into one of the “original” Hummers? Those vehicles have tons of space, and are super durable. With 3 dogs there’s no need to torture yourself or the dogs, by wandering aimlessly throughout the U.S. It was a nice gig while it lasted, but the ship has sailed and you need to focus on a new gimmick. And while they're more fuel-efficient, the fuel is more expensive, so the cost/mile isn't any better. I had a 7.3 shuttle bus for a while and got tired of chasing issues. Better gas economy than an ambulance OR heavy armored car. 4x4 is the only way to go. MUCH bigger than your bronco and you can stand up. Hell, if you get one with slides they're quite roomy.
