TNR Garu.....thx a lot for making a productive interview. I heard about sync sound from pelli chupulu. I am in Usa currently and want to come back to get into technical department in movies. This video caused lot of interest in sound design department...thx for that. My questions below if u can answer would be glad.
1) Can we get the top 5 film schools to learn this technology in India. I m trying to pool money for New York film school but still it appears like an impossible task to study there lol 😂
2) what are the prospects to get a first break. I was under impression that editing will have a better chance to put first step in the industry so wanted to compare the competition.
3) what are all the other technical departments other than editing and sound design one can aspire for in film industry
4) don’t get me wrong, it is not that there is no passion but to make a decent living what would be the average pay for sound design in the initial days

Hi Chaitanya, Yes you have good schools in India where you can find courses in which Sound Design is a part of. There are other tech depts. like Production Design..and Cinematography which also includes Lighting i guess..The average pay for sound design in Initial days will be enough to get you through the Initial days :) Thanks for Asking!

Hi Chandu, meeru explain chesina problems akkade kaadu.. anthata untai ... the solutions for these issues cannot be handled by a website alone, you need a dedicated person who can understand particular problems with your content/source and then deal with it in individual case.

1. I'm planning to make a zero budget short-film and I want to use
iPhone 6, DJI osmo mobile2 stabilizer, FilMic Pro video shooting App
2. I want to use sync sound for my short-film, how can i use sync sound for 4 actors with the above gadgets.

those are video capturing gadgets when it comes to sync you need separate equipments like wireless mic which consist on transmitters and receivers and other equipment too
If I'm not wrong this sync sounding was there in Hindi film anil Kapoor, Preeti Zia starrer Armaan which is almost fifteen years back..
Oka microphone ki by its nature vachey noise floor ni thagginchey ways untaya? I have a rode video mic pro which I plug into a Zoom H1 recorder. I keep the mic's level at zero and zoom's at 50 as was suggested by Curtis Judd in order to get rid of the recorder's distortion. But still the noise floor is not as low, that it ends up affecting the vocal when is reduced. Would a heavy wind shield or blimper help? Also why blimpers are so freaking expensive? The thing with Sound is that, we don't know whom to ask these questions cause everyone knows so little and the ones who are aware of these aspects are busy professionals. So thank you for being kind enough for taking out your time and answering all our inquiries! :)

Hi SAKS films - there are not many options for levels of equipment- only Basic and next professional grade. Basic grade equipment tho kooda professional ga work cheyochu - ala chesam kooda. Kani konni compromises cheyali and also kontha kashtapadali location and other departments like camera and direction also should support sound team. For more details, ask! Thanks!

I watched "ee nagaraniki emaindi" in Devi. I felt that the sound of pellichupulu was better than this. There was so much disturbance and dialogues were not clear. Is it because I watched it in Dolby Atmos? Will there be any difference if this is watched in other theatres?

Hi Harish! there will be mild to noticable difference from theater to theater, but if you feel that its not as great as pellichupulu, it is valid to some sense because ENE was shot mostly in Goa, and maybe that feel is in this movie. Thanks for the feedback! WIll Work on it!

When it comes to non telugu artists these days many people are dubbing their own voice. I feel directors should encourage sync sound. Actors may do some home work if required but with sync sound it gives actual and raw expression of voice which dubbing may not give for all scenes
new comers ee type of format use cheyalante ela? we make short films, mem normal mics try chesam.. but were unable to get that feel, also we tried concealing collar mics, it is a bit better, but how to get the best with the boom mic..? indoor lo shoot unnapudu kuda.. there is noise .. how to avoid that noise.. A suggestion would be helpful.. Thank you for the interview :)
The best way to avoid noise in the recordings is to choose a location which is as silent as possible.

Sanjay sir! Why analog is still so superior to digital? Like I heard QT never allows any digital sound machine on his sets. And also what's the importance of a live sound mixer?
Many reasons why some engineers prefer analogue workflow during music production, and sometimes in audio post...there are also analogue emulations hat do wonders to a digital recording... Alastair section in this interview film-mixing.com/2015/04/19/bombay-velvet-dialogue-mix/
And if u meant tarantino, he does not allow any adr in his films is what I heard, also all the background scores he uses from his collection of vinyls without major noise reduction or cleaning up...but on the set, they do use a digital recorder for recording dialog. The mixer that the Production sound mixer uses is analogue though. A production sound mixer on set is nothing but the sound recordist. He mixes the production track while the scene is being shot, the production track is a mixdown of all the different channels/ inputs/mics that are used while on set. This production track is what the director listens to on his headphones, the mix only contain sounds that are required for that particular scene and that which helps the director get a idea of what the final mix is going to be. This production track is also what is fed to the cameras and used later by editor to edit the film. Because of set, there are many mics all recording high levels and are captured on the recorder separate tracks each mic one track so there are multiple tracks ranging from 4 to even 20..so if I understood Ur question correctly, what u asking live sound mixer is the production sound mixer who is nothing but the sound recordist. this might help ua-cam.com/video/UZ0ygMdIICo/v-deo.html

Sarath Gentela 1. Mic quality is important as much as a camera's quality is important in shooting visuals. 2. For beginners Audacity, reaper. Konchem advanced level lo cubass. Damn professional aithey Pro tools. But shortfilms audacity is simple and affective. 3. Read 'sound effects and recording bible'. UA-cam tutorials are plenty. Hollywood almost never opts for ADR. 4. Question isn't clear.
Better equipment and good location is important...at the same time, if location is good, even basic equipment can work if we manage to get close enough to the character...that means, good pre production with the director and cinematographer...frames correct ga visually good set cheskoni as well as allowing sound mixer to work for best results in any situation, then u can get good dialog...plus, we should understand that noise is also a part of our daily life, how best we use it in/for the film is also important...manaki inni rojulu dubbed quality vini Oka high level of clarity alvatu aindi...so inka Chala cinemalu sync sound lo vaste... theatre lo experience cheste then as a filmmaker, as Recordists, everyone will get up to speed with the current standards set by award winning designers....also, like don Harish mentioned above, that is a good book...and many videos on UA-cam

Hi Anil! Hopefully my answer will clear some misconceptions. Like nagarjun said I'm the interview.. the. sync sound process lo shooting lo dialogue sarigga teeskovadam Oka ethu aite, sound post production process lo aa recordings sarigga edit chesi final mixing ( re recording, that can be 5.1/7.1/Auro3d/Dolby atmos/ DTS X ) all the above any format lo finish cheyadam inkoka etthu... Workflow different untundi to place dialog correctly.... Nuvvu cheppe cinemalani nenu Chala sarlu choosa...after few times I wanted to figure out what went wrong...and there are many reasons those dialogues did not translate well in the fin output...right from 1st getting dialog without any distracting noise to doing final mix...the point is, I really appreciate that those are the only films that used production dialog, at least few scenes...and vatilo kooda Chala baga vachins scenes unnai...meeku opika unte, intrest unte, please read this article once : www.google.co.in/amp/s/film-mixing.com/2015/04/19/bombay-velvet-dialogue-mix/amp/

@@anilani7338 That noice problem is due to poor sound mixing or poor recording. Both dubbing and sync are good if recorded and mixed properly. MoreOver Sync saves time and gives Good results.
