Stevie and Linda have a couple things in common , They both are awesome and they both are from Arizona! All the credit to the great Buddy Holly for such a great song . Thanks for the post !
That’s Linda’s old guitar player Waddy Wachtell on lead guitar and Linda’s manager Peter Asher on harmonies and it’s Linda’s arrangement (not the Buddy Holly version at all). I know Stevie sang this at Linda’s induction into the rock roll hall of fame. So maybe it’s both.
@@RJS1974 This video is 3 years prior to Ronstadt's induction in the R&R Hall of Fame. Also side trivia, although Wachtell worked with Ronstadt first in the 1970's he has been a constant in Nicks' solo career both in the studio and on tour starting with BELLA DONNA in 1981. This event was in connection to the release of the tribute album LISTEN TO ME: BUDDY HOLLY which was produced by Peter Asher, who also serves as musical supervisor for this live event. Any other musician associated with Ronstadt on that stage is due to Asher's involvement I'm sure. Stevie sings "Not Fade Away" on the actual album and Zooey Deschanel sings "It's So Easy" but for the live event Zooey was absent and Stevie stepped in to sing this.
Linda and Waddy use to do this...! Loved it then and Love it now ! Cool...to see it again with Stevie ! Brought back Good ol; memories !!! l Loved all the girl singers !!!
It's kind of funny. Linda covered so many truly great rockers and had such big hits with the covers that sometimes people think they originated with Linda. God bless Buddy Holly.
Not fade away is just magnificent. This lady opens her mouth and out comes the song . She sings IT SO EASY. She,s brillaint , SO WAS BUDDY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Wowie what songs and memories. I,ve just found this stuff. Stones do a good Not fade away too.
So much comparing of Linda or Stevie, Well Im a fan of Linda's. I have her CD's..But there is only ONE lady who has the magic, the lyrics, the connection to her fans SOUL...ROCK ON STEVIE NICKS!!!
Her vocals are nothings as to what they were before. But then we are talking about decades ago. When she was younger her voice was like sweet honey. But nothing lasts forever. Those early demos were evident of this enchanting vocal style. Not to be matched by anyone.
From the looks of the audience, I'd say they passed out Zanax before the music started. Good grief; look alive, people. Stevie Nicks doing a Holly tribute is something to get excited about.
+Inquendi "Not a Linda song?" Dude? Stevie gave, appropriately, credit to the song writer. But, this song was performed at the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, inducting Linda Ronstadt. "It's So Easy" is INDEED a "Linda song."
+Inquendi One more quick point. If you listen to Buddy Holly's version, then Linda's version and finally Stevie's version you will find that Stevie does Linda's version. There is your indisputable evidence . . . Ronstadt "owns" the song.
You should check your facts. This performance is being performed at a Buddy Holly Tribute. Which is why they have Buddy's pictures behind the performers and not Linda's. Do you actually expect me to believe they'd have pictures of Buddy Holly behind the performers at Linda's induction into the R&RHoF? Please. Stevie also did a version of Not Fade Away at this same show. Why would she be singing Not Fade Away at Linda's induction? The OP labeled this a Linda song; it is not. While she did do a good COVER of it, it is, and always will be, a Buddy Holly song.
Ronstadt's old band, Ronstadt's arrangement - honoring Buddy Holly but Linda's vibe is all over this version. Stevie is just fine - yet everyone sounds shallow compared to Linda.
Interestingly, Waddy Wachtel not only is Stevie's current guitarist, but for years he also was Linda's. Both ladies had great taste in backing musicians.
Even Stevie says it's Buddy's song at the end. Linda made a career out of covering other people's songs. Whereas Stevie has written and performed lots of fantastic songs.
whats really fantastic about music is it's not a competition. Every great artists brings something unique and special to their performaces. You can appreciate both without needlessly pitting them against each other.
This is a tribute to Linda. I love Stevie but I know she doesn't sing this like Linda. Stevie knows this too. Was Linda there? I know she has Parkinson's and can no longer sing.
Stevie is a good rock soul, fine songwriter but on-key belting ain't her thing. Linda's devotees(i am one) are so hardcore we tend to dismiss even those who honor her legacy. Still thanks to the beat of Mr. Holly.
@@cjerry2013 I love Rhonda but she couldn't sing Stevie's songs. Not putting her down by any means, she could sing them, sure, but it just wouldn't be the same!
Believe me, if it wasn't for the fact that Linda sadly has Parkinson's disease now, she could even today, at 72 years old, sing the hell out of this song.
I love Stevie doing this song, I feel like she gives Buddy "credit" but pays "homage" to Linda by doing her version, which IS better than the original.
Clearly apes Linda's version. Waddy was so great with Ronstadt and Keith Richards. Stevie is cool and a good songwriter but her solo bands were Linda's leftovers(after Ronstadt left a dying rock scene) and vocally no one could belt it or croon like Linda.
I just had to say this is not her best song for her to do. It was not good. I have always had allot of respect for her. This song is really amazing song and this doesn’t really work for me. Sad really sad to say this.
That was HORRIBLE~ I'm a Stevie Nicks lover too...Have been for years...She should stick to her own songs, cause she is backed here by Linda Ronstadt's old band, and she cannot compare to Linda's unmistakable, excellent voice! Sorry, it almost hurts me to talk badly about my girl Stevie, but I'm just ''keepin' it real''.... ;/
It’s simply awesome. The great Stevie Nicks rocking the stage with Waddy Watchel and Leland Skylar.
I love how Sharon stands there for the whole song, waiting for her one note. She is so awesome.
YES! I love Sharon 😄
Stevie and Linda have a couple things in common , They both are awesome and they both are from Arizona! All the credit to the great Buddy Holly for such a great song . Thanks for the post !
Nice to see/hear her singing in her higher register and mastering all the growls, as well. Very nice indeed!
Damn she's beautiful! What a voice!
Come on people!!!! This is not a tribute to Linda. It's a tribute to BUDDY HOLLY!! The man who wrote and performed the song first.
Very true but Linda made it a hit

This song is so good!
God bless rock ´n´ roll and Buddy Holly.
Stevie knows how to sing. That's for sure!!!
Stevie is so awesome !!! Love her ….
OMG ❤❤❤ First not fade away and now it's so east !!! It is so easy to love ❤ all you do Stevie ❤ An amazing, dynamic performance ❤
It's kind of funny. Linda covered so many truly great rockers and had such big hits with the covers that sometimes people think they originated with Linda. God bless Buddy Holly.
Buddy holly will live for ever
jeff johnson
So will Linda because she has an album in the Library of Congress and she received the National Medal of Arts.
Just Love this. Stevie Nicks is so darn cute!
Stevie knocking it out of the park and she has Gandalf the Grey on bass backing her up.
He said it ! HOT,HOT,HOT...She is so awesome everything about her!!!
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing this clip! You rock Stevie! XxX
I do love Stevie's performance. She should include it in her set list for next year.
👍👍👍
And of course, Fool For Your Loving.
Super Stevie
Brilliant, fun, and gracious. Love it.

Thanks Buddy Holly then Linda then stevie Nicks. I love you Stevie Nicks forever baby cakes

Anyone recognized Leland "Lee" Sklar on the bass!? Amazing!
Yep there's WW too

Happy anniversary of your first breath of air, Stevie Nicks {26 May}.
あのバックボーカリストの女性はいつも素晴らしい
Luv Mr. Isaac’s intro of Ms. Nicks....especially the HOT part. 🥴
Your so beautiful steavy nicks beautiful song
Her vocals are nothings as to what they were before. But then we are talking about decades ago. When she was younger her voice was like sweet honey. But nothing lasts forever. Those early demos were evident of this enchanting vocal style. Not to be matched by anyone.
I love this! The older dude in the backing group is also having the time of his life :P
The "Older Dude"? All of them here are the same/similar/very close in age.
I wrote a story once that Buddy Holly missed the plane. Years later found out that Terry Pratchett wrote a whole book about it called Soul Music.
Stevie Nicks The best
love stevie
Love both versions Linda's & Stevies
Kinda like Buddy's too.
very good!
god she is amazing
Linda Ronstadt and Buddy Holly will live on in their music indefinitely.
Ohhhh la mejor voz ,
YEAR ... Leland Sklar on Bass
Linda does it the best!
Buddy
great
Yeah!
From the looks of the audience, I'd say they passed out Zanax before the music started. Good grief; look alive, people. Stevie Nicks doing a Holly tribute is something to get excited about.
I love her glasses :)
love having stevie sing a linda song since they were the big fued in the 80,s
+tazmanf69 Not a Linda song. It's a Buddy Holly Song. If you watch the video to the end you even hear Stevie give thanks to...Buddy Holly.

+Inquendi Clearly apes Ronstadt. Nice try but really tepid compared with the vocal prowess of Linda. IMHO
Old country's a good thing for Stevie. Would love for her to sing Pancho&Lefty with the Wilson sisters
Stevie Nicks will be ‘Forever Sexy’ to me. 🥴 She has the perfect, husky voice for this classic Holly Tune!
Ronstadt's old band, Ronstadt's arrangement - honoring Buddy Holly but Linda's vibe is all over this version. Stevie is just fine - yet everyone sounds shallow compared to Linda.
👍🏻 nobody beats Linda!
stevie doing Linda, yeah!
WTF are you on about? Its a tribute to Buddy Holly!
Interestingly, Waddy Wachtel not only is Stevie's current guitarist, but for years he also was Linda's. Both ladies had great taste in backing musicians.
👍👍👍
And Lindsay Buckingham's song writing is heavily influenced by Buddy Holly....Second hand news is a great example
Was this a Linda tribute performance?
Didn't know Gandalf the grey plays bass , Seriously great job Stevie Nicks!
Lee Sklar - 4 string master.
MrJohn49g Hahaha
The man playing the Les Paul is the same person who played on a Ronstadt video done in 1977. It's here on youtube.
Yes, Waddy Wachtel.
Yeah waddys been with Stevie since the beginning but he's done his share of rockin with other artists as well
not with Stevie but with Linda
I love Stevie nicks , but this songs i think is so nice in linda ronstadt voice !! 😆
+GatoMelane503 ok lets see Linda sing it now....remember Stevie is 65 here and Linda sang this when she was very young.
Even Buddy Holly had backing but that did not take anything away from his singing, same with Stevie
Rip buddy holly
Buddy Holly wrote and recorded this beautiful song first.
full video please
stevie is one of my favorite female singers but linda blows this song away and linda sings this best !
Her version of not fade away is dynamite!!!!!!!!
Did you by chance record the Not Fade Away performance???
I've been trying to catch this on channel by me but have been out of luck!
Stevie did say thank you Buddy Holly at the end
This is more a Linda Ronstad than a Buddy Holly tribute, if you compare both versions.
Why was there no collaboration between Stevie Nicks and Linda Ronstadt?
JZEmma you can watch stevie singin' it"s late on youtube just type in her name / chris isaak/ it"s late
The drummer is excellent , Whoever he is ?
"HOT AND I MEAN HOT!"
XD
SHE IS FROM FLEED WOOD MAC
|s that Benny Andersson from Abba on the piano?
@ajcarnaggio Im trying to upload it :)
Wonder if Linda Ronstadt was offered a chance to sing this.
ii dint Val wich you i just a friend in love
I love how Stevie Nicks sings, but this is Linda Ronstadt's song, and I don't think anyone has a better voice than Linda!
Nope it is Buddy Holly's , it was a tribute to............Buddy Holly!
Even Stevie says it's Buddy's song at the end. Linda made a career out of covering other people's songs. Whereas Stevie has written and performed lots of fantastic songs.
I wonder who the band is besides Waddy and Sharon?
I hope Linda Ronstadt did not have to suffer through listening to this
I absolutly love Stevie Nicks, but no one can do better than Linda on this version of the song. Also, Waddy is still great, love it!
whats really fantastic about music is it's not a competition. Every great artists brings something unique and special to their performaces. You can appreciate both without needlessly pitting them against each other.
People, Stevie is 65 years old singing this song. Where is Linda? Linda sang it way back when. Just saying....
+Luis Perez Linda has Parkinson's and cannot sing any longer.
jimmmmy41 Ok but what does that have to do with people comparing Stevie with her?
Bit tame really for a rocker ... catch my Buddy
Damm Waddy gets around better then waldo, keep rocken dude..............
This is a tribute to Linda. I love Stevie but I know she doesn't sing this like Linda. Stevie knows this too. Was Linda there? I know she has Parkinson's and can no longer sing.
winogirlll i didn't think anyone could beat linda's version, but zooey deschanel's is better.
It is a frikking Buddy Holly tribute....
Stevie is a good rock soul, fine songwriter but on-key belting ain't her thing. Linda's devotees(i am one) are so hardcore we tend to dismiss even those who honor her legacy. Still thanks to the beat of Mr. Holly.
D Jackson Love it "on-key belting". Agree with you it was a Ronstadt speciality. Miss hearing Linda's voice.
@@cjerry2013 I love Rhonda but she couldn't sing Stevie's songs. Not putting her down by any means, she could sing them, sure, but it just wouldn't be the same!

look at all the backing she has ,Take all that away an well ???

Stevie is my favorite singer of all time. But this is not good.
why does one of the players look like gandalf? hahaha:p
If you want to hear a great version of this song listen to Linds Ronstadt singing it. This is terrible
