Yep,still got that hiss in the receive but it's not as bad as i thought it would be and it sounded pretty good on SSB.Think i will pick one up but i'm going to wait a while to see if any problems develop.Thank you for doing this.
I just dont understand why this problem has not been fixed yet? There is a problem with these boards then why dont they fix it! Once again, thanks for the all the work you do.
I have one of these and it has poor reception unless the squelch is turned to where its noisy. The frequency's were messed up from ch20 to ch35 when I bought it but didn't know it until I needed channel 24. Turns out it was on the same frequency as ch 19. The 3 button reset fixed that thank GOD!. Every now and then there's a simple fix but I'm not often that lucky. I love the radio! It sounds Awesome on the air. With the squelch noisy I can hear Triple Nickel talking on his bass from Atlanta to Michigan.
+John Alex Right on, I mean monster as in powerful and it is a real force to be wreckoned with! Compliments on your purchase bud, I nice radio for sure.
Hello sir, I just got my 955hpc, I can not get it to pick up anything. On band 4, in AM I try to turn the dial to reach 27.1850 like you side in your video was ch 19. As I turn the adjustment dial it goes down and stops at 28.000 and then rolls over to 29.875. I've tried scans on AM and VFO. I can't pick nothing up
Since the clarifier is able to be adjusted on Tx and Rx I was wondering if the frequency counter displays the frequency on Tx? Is it an active frequency counter I suppose is what I'm asking? Thing is, if the clarifier frequency adjustment is set on the coarsest, then the tuning steps might remain the same when you key the mike if the Tx is only slightly off. I've read the manual, looked at reviews but I can't seem to get a definitive answer to this question.
The watt meter jumped up on sideband before the audio? Hmmmmm. I have a 955 and it doesnt do that. Sounds like you have an issue with the carrier filtering in that radio.
Hello , my name is Chris, getting my amateur license soon, just wondering, what antenna are you using at the shop or wherever you were taking the comparison? Again thanks, also love the vids you put up, very helpful.
A local guy has one, sounds XLNT on both AM & SSB, noticeably better than most other rigs, especially the higher-pitched sounding Galaxys, but he does drift A LITTLE, about what one would expect from any Amateur rig without an integral TCXO (Temperature Controlled (X)Crystal Oscillator) but after maybe 10-20 minutes of rather steady conversation he stops about 70Hz-100Hz down, it could use a TCXO for those who have to have it a rock from turn-on, but it's no worse than the best 'other' out there
just curious, towards the end of the video your voltmeter reads 15.1 volts. If the antenna impedance is 50 ohms, 15.1 volts squared divided by 50 ohms is 4.56 watts. To get 80 watts in 50 ohms you would need 63.2 volts. Does this radio have some kind of voltage booster driving the finals?
hey man I've got the same cb its squeals all the time when I turn up the mic and I got the top back still off is there any way to turn it down inside the radio it's definitely feedback from the speakers
1. turn down mic gain 2. turn down talkback3. don't use a power mic.4. don't point external speaker directly at youIts probably over modulating could be rf coupling if the above list doesn't work. Then try better coax or ferrite cores around your speaker wires and coax.
Though i have never used the SR-955.. I Highly doubt it is as good as a HF ham Rig.. Although my AR-3500 for its frequency's i would put up against my 706 but not my IC-7000.. However i hear what you are saying.. In Recent Hurricane Sandy...I was one of a handful of people in my city who had Excellent comm when even Fire/Police had major issues
..."Though i have never used the SR-955.." OK, So.... what are you trying to say here? I mean, this is the SR955 and if you've never used one, what does the any of that have to do with anything? Don't misunderstand me, I'm thinking that I misunderstand you, so that's why I'm asking. Rich

@@MrBOB39 Ohhhh! OK, I see what you're saying. I do own the SR955HPC but I don't think I've ever used it without an external speaker. I probably did try it for a moment with the built in speaker, but my point is that my SR955HPC, (V2), sounds a lot clearer than what I heard in this video. My Desktop is a custom built system with a high-end 5.1 speaker system, so I don't think it has to do with my speakers. However, I don't know anything about posting video sound on UA-cam, which may or may not have something to do with sound quality heard. Perhaps if you listened to one in person, you'd have a bit better idea of what the SR955 sounds like, (just sayin'). Anyway, thanks for clearing up my confusion on that. Rich
I have been beating my head against the radio all day trying to get the software to work. Can you tell me the type of cable you used. USB to mini-USB? My computer is not recognizing them radio. I have tried different driver, followed the steps on your website, spent 60 dollars in different USB cables. I must be doing something wrong. Pllleeeeaaaasssseeee help.
Around 3:47 you can hear me say there's a lot of noise out there, and he came back to me and it sounds like he says "Rogers on that 4-1-7 I do a lot of listening before I key up" or something along those lines. LOL Transmitting live into your receiver 4 years ago from the capital city, Topeka Ks 4-1-7 In the Wheat-field Mobile Gettin Down! You have my express consent to continue letting my words be heard and you can always catch me on the 215 hammering down around DX Land!
Unscrew the speaker side lid. Look on bord right side and you will see a white arrow. In front of the arrow point is a single resistor and you remove that and you now have 27 mhz and you will not need to tune it
***** FCC fine for out of band $7,000.00 ! High power another $7,000.00 . The FCC has offices located across the United States and agents just looking to make a bust ! Just offer to sell the radio converted will get you a trip through the judicial system and a $7,000.00 fine ! By the way how much do you want for this radio ?
I called the fcc and was transferred to the department for reporting violations. I finally got to talked to a guy and told him my radio has the illegal 11 meter modification and he said that was common on a radio like this and then told me thanks for calling and hung up. He didn't ask any information and he seemed to be unconcerned to say the least.
Why Not get a True HF radio.. Like an Icom 706 MKIIG.. Cleaner audio. More power on FM and SSB. Way more Frequency's you can use.. Plus they get skip far better.. For they Typically Hear much better as well.
Can I use the same power plug from my cobra 29 LTD classic to power up a brand-new striker 955 HPC they are both three pin power plugs if someone could please let me know I would be very much appreciate it I am brand new to all of this god bless y’all 🇺🇸👍
All Export radio's are legally sold as 10m ham radio's (wink wink) and need converted. If you go to cbtricks.com and look under Stryker radio's the process is in there.
He already has the radio unlocked for 11 meter and im guessing since its illegal to transmit on 10 meter without a license that is why he is on 11 meter....plus his antenna might not be tuned for 10/12 meter :)
Wouldn't worry about...kids take guns to school over there and no one wants to tackle that problem of firearm ownership. and why worry about whether it has 4 or 80 watts. No one gets harmed.
There's nothing wrong with firearm ownership. The problem is the parents leaving them where a kid can get access to them and not raising your kids to respect you, your rules and other people.
This is my classic (Stryker) antenna and it works as advertised. I've used many of these over the years and they've all worked very well for me.

Planning to buy SR-A10 Antenna in next month. 10,000 power watts at $69.
Is there any way to increase the echo delay 8n the software or inside the radio, as I'd like a much longer delay.
That thing is beautiful.

Does this radio allow you to upload your own Rodger beep file from your computer?
Maybe use a better receive radio next time. It would be a much more fair review.
How did you get the receive noise so low? Almost always getting a 3-5 lbs
@SNAKE RADIO CUSTOMS BUILDS AND MODS hack up any radios today? Why are you commenting on videos? You disable comments on your videos. PUSSY

How lively is the 10 meter radio? I'm considering getting one but I don't want to get the radio and turn it on and hear nearly nothing.
Thank you for the info! Can you tell me if the name can be programmed outside of the software from the radio?
Thanks...

This Radio has an Amazing Reciever, out performance my Ft-891 Yaesu.

I've been thinking about purchasing this radio. Does the RF adjustment work for sideband also? It would be nice to hook this radio up to my amplifier.

this radio definitely has my attention!!!!
Is the software downloadable? I bought my 955 2nd hand but they did send me the program cable.
was that a Uniden PC 244 for that 7 mile audio test?
Nice sounding audio on SSB. How is the radio on SSB drift?
Which RF wattmeter are you using? I like it. Mark

So can u hear transmissions thousands of miles away?
Is this output power out of the box or after tuning?
How many volts do you recommend to go into the striker? I'm only running 13.8. I see your at-15.. should I rise the voltage ⚡️
I do 14.2v and it seems happy. I have two 955 radios and both going strong .
Does this radio come with the software and cable ? Or is it another expense ? Thanks.
nice radio!! TX sounds great.
Very good video and useful info!
Where can I get the software from
Why are you running this at 15 volts when the average mobile does around 14?

My 955 puts out over 100 volts at full blast.
Looking for one of these in the UK.
Any advice ?

Does this radio come programmed with the standard 40 AM CB channels or do you have to mod it?
You mod it by removing 1 resistor to enable 27 mhz and it will not need tuning and that's as hard as it gets
what kind of cable do I use on my stryker 655 to program it
You never told us how many W it does on AM

The one that is supposed to come with it. Only one that works. If you didn't get one with it contact Stryker.

my 955 shows 40 watts and about 60 sideband.

2nd the usb cord you need has a dongle on the USB 2.0 side.
