I never heard a top knotch legend praising a young drummer this way. Unbelievable. Congratulations to El Estepario. A highly intelligent and extremely hardworking guy, in his mind boundaries don't exist.
@@arnefreymann313 Estepario is on another level, but he is, in fact, playing mostly cover tunes and exercises in a controlled medium. When we have 30 years of Estepario playing live and improvising with top talent musicians, in a variety of genres and frequently going out on a limb during solos while also laying down some of the fattest live grooves ever heard, then we can entertain who is stuck where. Cheers.
I used to work at a drum store in the '90s. Dennis came in to do a clinic and wasn't feeling very well. He went back to one of the practice rooms, and balled up his jacket into a pillow and lay down on his back and took a nap until about 10 minutes until it was clinic time. I went back, woke him up, and he proceeded to stagger out of the room, shake his head, and go out and absolutely destroy the drum kit. He was the greatest drummer I've ever seen in person. And I've seen a lot.
God I feel that. A few summers ago before covid I would work an 8 hour job, then come home every day & take a 15 minute nap before going right into band practice, every day of the week.
Absolutely love this!!! When one of the GOATS says your the hottest dude out there changing music.... El Estepario my Brother..... I told you Bro!!! You're at the top of the pinnacle!!! Doesn't get any better than these compliments!!! Love ya Dennis Chambers!
That's high praise coming from one of the masters. Mr. Dennis Chambers. Real recognizes real. He's right. Dude is just as solid as they come with the showmanship thrown in too. He makes it look sooo easy. Dudes a monster and I love his playing. Dennis is the man too. I'm a metal guy but Dennis is f@#king incredible. Unbelievable talent. Love both you guys.
El estepario you have just received one of the best compliments you'll ever get from a drumming legend the great Dennis chambers if I were you I'd be super honored right now
Wow! I knew that Estepario is one the best drummers ever but to hear the same estimation from such a legend as Dennis Chambers is a damn new level. It means that he is the ultimate legend!
Dude. This is big. I’ve been following estepario for a long time. And also Dennis have been a hero of mine for as long as I can remember. Congrats Estepario.
I'm floored to hear that take. I absolutely agree, that dude is probably at the top in the world in terms of technique, but I've never heard anything by that guy that I'd go out of my way to casually listen to. He's an incredible, unsurpassed technician and is a great athlete at the drums, but I've never heard anything by him that sounds beautiful. If I've just not heard the right things from him, comment a link, but I feel if I listened to his drumming too much, I'd get a headache.
Not sure why this short showed up on my feed but checkout the band he's the drummer for. (Meinl Cymbals - El Estepario Siberiano - The Cost "Not For Me") ua-cam.com/video/LXiBVriIDRc/v-deo.html
@@chunky5monkey Since writing that, oddly enough, my dad of all people showed me his band, and they're not bad. But I'm sure the latter doesn't buy him a lot of fame online, at least not like his technical feats can. Point made and accepted.
Coming from the great Dennis Chambers is the highest complement a drummer could ever receive. And I totally agree. Every time l complement this dude in the comment section, l always seem to get roasted by someone. But this dude is so freakin good until he looks like it's special effects.
Dennis Chambers has been my favorite drummer since around 1985 when I saw him with the John Scofield Band. "Protocol" and "The Nag" live with him on drums were insane. As for estepario... here's a goat praising another goat.
I see a bunch of people try and shit on that man's drumming crying about overplaying... but when Dennis Chambers says you are on top of the drumming world, you are in fact on top of the drumming world.
Estepario is also incredibly humble and doesn't take compliments very well. He constantly talks about practice being the only thing that sets him apart
He's not bad as a drummer I suppose. Rather than him using just one drumstick, he should try no drumsticks if he really wants to become a master like me.
I hate to disagree with an idol of mine but while El Estipario is technically amazing and seems like a cool guy I just don’t feel anything musical listening to him play. It feels like a bunch of perfectly placed notes without feel. Not to shit on him, he has his place but I really can’t listen to him for long.
Yeah, same feels. More of an online drumming entertainer. Got skills, but I'm thinking he'll do better solo with his online persona than with a band. Don't know what to think about that but...
This is what happens when you love something (drumming) and you put in the work. His abilities have always struck me as beyond human in terms of dexterity, and his playful showmanship (stick spinning/throwing/catching) is so dialed in and consistent- it’s shocking. I’m not even someone who is really into stick spinning, etc. I’ve only known about the man since I saw him in shorts, but I’m sitting here writing this like “Damn…That’s so cool.” It’s cool to see a person’s clear passion and diligence, and their journey- that they chose to go extra miles by documenting it (professionally) and sharing it with the world. That’s true husss… I agree w/ the commenter about Dennis Chambers/GOAT status- that’s legendary. Well-deserved. Mad props!
Yes he's got chops, but he doesn't understand feel or emotional expression? He's a machine (which is NOT a compliment) and not an artist. He can play almost anything but plays the same fills in every video to songs where they just don't belong. He doesn't show much understanding of music, he just shows off and people eat it up. (For the most part people that don't play drums or at least practice.)
A legend like dennis praised him. And many other masters like benny greb, tony royster, Eric Moore, who, as far as I'm concerned, have admitted what a drummer el estepario siberiano is. Even Dennis said he really can play the music despite all the tricks he does. Are you saying Dennis and many other world-class drummers don't know what music with feel is? Come on
What a horrible take. Are pop drummers bad too because they don't show "emotional expression"? They're performing for a living, but that isn't the limit of their ability. Doesn't matter how much of a virtuoso you are, an artist needs to find a way to monetize their talent. Estepario found that "machine" gimmick which is paying the bills for now, but that doesn't mean that's all he is.
Ouh I'm sorry if I may quote your own comment about el estepario siberiano, "he doesn't show much of understanding of music" while he got recognition from many world-class drummers, which is also world-class musicians. So, are you now more competent than these world-class drummers who praised his work?

I just KNEW Dennis would love this guy. I was so honored to meet Dennis at a club in Baltimore. He was having a drink at the bar, and I handled it as politely as I could. I said, "Mr. Chambers, you've inspired me to incorporate different styles and approaches in my drumming. I think you're a legend who doesn't get enough credit." He looked to his side over at me and just said very calmly, "Hey, thanks brother." I could tell he really didn't wanna be bothered past that so I politely left. Lol. Still a highlight for me.
Not to mention his love for the game and his fellow drummers coming up through the ranks. Most 'overnight' sensations develop a mindset where they kinda hold everyone else 'beneath them' down as they pursue their own glory and accolades. It's not until much later in their journey that they turn their hand to shining a light on other deserving prospects. Not this bloke tho, for as much of a showman and entertainer he is, effortlessly, he already seems to be particularly dedicated to giving credit and recognition to those around him. Potentially at some expense to the attention his journey and skillset receives. That is the hallmark of not only a good practitioner of their art but an all round decent human being. And for someone to possess a quality like that despite his meteoric rise to an internationally recognised and commended status, he has maintained an authentic consideration and compassion for things other than his own matters/situation. Respect.
When Dennis Chambers gives you current GOAT status, you have achieved GOAT status. Hell yea
