  • Basic Officer Training
    During 9 weeks, the first part of the course verifies that each candidate has the leadership potential, motivation and ability to continue with leadership training. Each student will be assessed on demonstrated personal traits, socialization, general leadership skills that are common to both military and civilian situations. They will also be taught basic military knowledge and skills common to all members of the CF. Task procedure will be taught as the framework for the evaluation of leadership potential.
    During 6 weeks, the second part of the course provides candidates who displayed the necessary leadership potential with the leadership knowledge and skills required to perform as a junior officer during a first tour. The focus will be on providing practical training and practice with an emphasis on military leadership.
    Basic Training is generally conducted at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. CFLRS provides initial indoctrination to the rudiments of military knowledge and leadership together with the fundamental ethics and values that characterize the profession of arms.

    Yes you do. All officers need to take this training. I'll hopefully be doing it this summer.

    You don't simply get promoted for being a certain rank for (X) amount of years. You have to take lot's of leadership courses, and show an extreme amount of merit to receive promotions. Unlike the American military, where you have 20 year old sergeants.

    You will do an apptitude test and you have to have some post secondary requirements like a degree but sometimes if you have solid college or highschool grades they'll send you to school at the militarys expense to put you into ROTP

    A pass on the cf express beep test is easy (only a six). If you plan on attending rmc though you have to get a nine and a half. That's for guys for girls it's four on the cf express and seven and a half on the cmc.

    @aerhearts Not really, as long as your body can handle it then you can be stationed. She said she was 40 which is nearing the limit but obviously they deemed her in well enough shape to carry on.

    There are different ones for different units, and different regiments. For example, the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa have their C.O. shout "Camerons!" and the men answer "Advance" and they do it 3 times "Camerons - Advance! Camerons - Advance! Camerons - Advance!"

    THing is though, you need your degree. And there is a reason why those enlisted guys with degrees chose to be a NCM. But the idea that you have is agreeable.

  • @MisdirectedSasha

    @SuperEpicWin Yes, they train in the same place (in the reg force, anyway), and the courses are similar in length and content, but Officer Cadets and Recruits are segregated into different training platoons with independant command structures. Also, Officers get treated a little better, but are expected to take more responsability for their course's administration and are put in charge of a section during their field excercises.

    @mrwonderfulman2011 I got mine from a canadian source, the fort york armoury. Canada probably pays better since alot less people are willing to join the military, especially people with university degrees. I don't understand how you could bring up American salaries when we are talking about Canadian salaries. If you wanted to prove that the Canadian salaries are lower because the American salaries are lower than you would have to prove a high correlation value between the pay scale over time ..

    • @WombatofCombat11

      As a leader you need to utilize your people. He should have delegated a fireteam to interview their suspect. The IC needs to be focused on the bigger picture and supervise. There's a fine balance between being present and doing too much of the "hands on" work. If you are going on BMOQ that will be something that you need to learn, trust your people, recognize their abilities and delegate accordingly, know when to step in. If I was the instructor that is what I would think was the issue.

    I already gave you all the info you needed if your too lazy to do something so simple such as typing a few words into google then the military probably isn't for you. And if you somehow can't find it and are considering the army they'll give you everything you need at the armoury.

  • @subatomicparticlephy
    @subatomicparticlephy 13 років тому

    @mrwonderfulman2011 Actually every single officer position does. After your 4 years your guaranteed $69 500 then it goes up every year after that and then you also get tax free bonuses and signing bonuses. But you start off making $48 000. If you become a general they make a shit load of cash, massive signing bonuses and tax free bonuses then plus their flat rate. If you include everything they make the equivalent of about $800 000 to a mill a year, but almost noone becomes a general and you...
