  • Another potentially great value lens from Yongnuo: an autofocus 35mm lens for Sony's full-frame (or APS-C) mirrorless cameras. Let's see what it's capable of.

@@staLkerhu well actually I was surprised to find the Yongnuo 35f2 feels like a premium lens in comparison to the Samyang 45f2, with its hollow plasticky feel. The YN is made out of metal and is much better built. Ha, the irony...

I've been watching all your vids probably. They are excellent in every way. I think you are a benchmark on how lensreview vids should be all in all. Great stuff. Also, your accent, I love it. You pronounce R sometimes with V and I've heard that before, in some movies. Sometimes you say regular Rrrrr to so I'm curious to where that accent's from?

Nice review as always! (never get bored of your Reviews).
It's too bad for the CA/Fringing, I'd take the Samyang over this lens even with its lower F2.8 aperture! Samyang is way sharper, a lot more compact, has way less CA/Fringing, and can be had for about the same price (used).
This Yongnuo looks to be a good 35mm "F4" lens.

Are you testing AF in AF-S or AF-C? I've seen the slight "hunt" before confirming focus in AF-S on some other lenses, but it's most likely the CDAF final pass that's doing it. It disappears completely in AF-C, which is constant OSPDAF.

Yes it is. But on APS-C it gives the same field of view as a 52.5 mm on full frame due to the cropped sensor. To get the "35mm FF field of view" on an aps-c you need a 23mm

Stupid comment. I bought the lens a few days ago, and I'm very impressed with the lens (as the reviewer is). The image quality has something organic the Sony 35 1.8 doesn't offer. For shooting portraits, the Yongnuo is probably the better option, and for a fraction of the price of the Sony. Oh and by the way, all Sony A7 cameras are made in China ;)
