It sounds like La Grange holds some wonderful memories for you from the 1960s. It's amazing how places evolve yet remain special in our hearts. It must be nice to still have a connection to the area through your sister. Thank you for sharing a piece of your history with us.

@@ralphieandryan-I was there last August. The current owner of the house I lived in was on their front porch and invited me in. She told me that it was the oldest house in town---built in 1871. I sent a long letter to the historical society about it. The village changed while I lived there, and even more since I left. At almost 69, it holds many memories for me, both good and bad. If you send me your email address, I can fill you in on MANY things I'm sure you don't know.

I may be moving out there in the near future. I am trying to decide if La Grange or Elmhurst is the best place for a single active 65 year old who wants to be active in the community and get involved in lots of activities not necessarily for seniors. I want to know if there are condos or apartments close to downtown shops that have a pool and gym besides the Uptown apartments (I have been googling alot. ) Can't go over $300k for condo or $2000 month for apartments. I think I like the feel of LaGrange more but there seem to be more living situations in Elmhurst that I want. I love the Library has a writing workshop in La Grange, but the Elmhurst Y has a pool and La Grange doesnt if i can't find a building to live with a pool. When the time comes I will need an agent. (im an agent in NY)

It sounds like you're doing thorough research on your potential move-La Grange and Elmhurst both have wonderful communities and amenities to offer. Given your active lifestyle and interest in being involved in community activities, both towns could suit your needs, though they each have their unique charms. It's great to hear about your interest in activities like writing workshops and swimming; these are fantastic ways to stay engaged and meet new people.
Since you mentioned budget considerations for condos and apartments, I'd be happy to help you explore all available options that meet your criteria in both areas. As a real estate agent myself, I understand the importance of finding a place that feels like home and suits your lifestyle. When you're ready to take the next steps or if you have more questions about living situations, amenities, or anything else, please feel free to reach out directly. I'd love to assist a fellow agent in finding the perfect spot in either La Grange or Elmhurst!
