In my 20's I managed a concert venue and they played there once. The lead singer was the nicest guy. He had such a great attitude. I hope that he is well
This song was a favorite of my little girl Amber - she loved Superman. She used to laugh her head off to this song. She passed away in 2011. Thanks, Spin Doctors, for giving her some joy with this fun song.
This is Groovy all the way around & back, excellent musicianship, pure rhythm and roll, this session has stood the test of time. Kings of the infusion, clean classic soul and roll.👑
This band was huge when my folks were in college. They're quite young when I was born. I love this song! I hadn't heard it in years and I could hear it somewhere in the distance of my dream last night. I often hear music in my dreams. It's an oldie and goodie.
What Bands "like Spindoctors" perhaps name some? (Good try son.) I miss much of yesterday too. Why? It just seemed more open to innovation& so much creativity without repression. As if Poetic Licence MEANT something.
If you don't introduce this kind of music to your kids you should be ashamed of yourself. Im 47 and I did a few years ago and my 10 year old loves this whole CD. Great parenting. I believe so.
It was me, maybe 20 years ago, in a kitchen in Italy in front of a little black and white tv listening to this. The song, the music, the moment... they are so inside me that I think they could be mistake with one of my bones
These guys are not only one of the best Jam bands. They are absolutely some of the nicest musical artists on the planet I saw them in Buffalo a few years ago and they literally wouldn't let anyone leave the venue until they had left the stage and they went by the front doors and personally thanked and signed autographs for every fan and attendance if they wanted it I've been to hundreds of shows that thanks gratefulness on a scale that I've never witnessed
I was lucky enough to see them in Minneapolis when I was 20, and just saw them last year ... one of the most underrated bands of the 90's ... especially the guitarist; live he is mind blowing!!!
@@dizmop sorry sounded aggressive as a comment, I just found the lyrics to be super comprehensive. The singer is singing from the perspective of Jimmie Olsen, who’s a character from the super man comics. He’s talking about how he loves Lois lane but he can’t compete with literal Superman. He wants Lois lane to come spend the night with him saying he has a “pocket full of kryptonite” so Superman can’t interrupt them. Pretty basically the deal.
This band is criminally criminally under rated. This is what the nineties needed! The guitarist, Anthony Krizan, can riff like it’s nobody’s business, the drummer Aaron Comess plays really flavorfuly, the bassist Mark White can hold down such a damn good groove, and Chris Barron’s voice is super smooth and gentle!
Actually, Krizan was a sort of stand-in for their actual guitarist Eric Schenkman on their second record Turn it Upside Down. I mean technically they fired him and hired Krizan. I say Stand-in because they eventually re-hired him, and in the History of the band Krizan was a small speedbump....no offence to him, he had huge shoes to fill. My point is, he didn't play on this song, or album and was only with the band for a bit. 'What? I just like being accurate.'
Saw these guys open up for Blues Traveler in the fall of 1992 at Ithaca College in New York. My buddy was a freshman there, and I was visiting from one of the SUNY universities. It was a wild show, they were incredible live, with the bass and clean tone guitar absolutely blowing me away. There was no doubt these guys would blow up shortly, and they did. As a funny aside, my friend's roommates were approached after the show by Chris Barron. He was wandering the campus, asking where he could score some pot lol. Super nice guy, great memories of the early 90s)).
Great songs and quality musicianship right here! This band is a hidden gem. I remember listening to their songs 4 the first time back at 92 and little did I know but I became a life fan. Thnx for the memories.
This is one of the bands that introduced me to 'alternative rock' when I was in college. I just love bands that sound different and kinda unique. Heard these guys at a free open air concert in Las Vegas at the Rio. Was so amazing to lay on the 'beach' by the casino's pool and listen to them play all their greatest songs. I'll never forget it.
My guitar instructor told me to learn the triads and their inversions all over the neck and then referenced this song to provide me the “why” I needed to learn them. Message received😮
Wao! am an old and embarrass... I remember this song and started dancing in the house alone while the wife went shopping.....am glad my grown kids weren't home at the time. Just got into pc stuff and learning to communicate with my kids..... is different than the 80's... God bless you all......
i bought this album when i was probably 12 years old, at that point it was 1999....still such a good album and i can sing about all the words still...!! :) :)
I used to love the crowd surfing at concerts in the 90's. Now people just stand around. First time I have seen this video and love seeing my beloved hometown NY. Roseland, Webster Hall, The Academy , Hammerstein , Wetlands Preserve , The Tunnel ahh NYC in the 90's good times! And I loved the Spin Doctor's..
These guys obviously studied Jimmy Page & Led Zep, Page's whole philosophy was putting more mics on the drums and pushing them more forward in the mix.
Chico State. Way early 1990s in a dented VW Scirocco trying to be cool on a date. With a Kraco radio and tape. Great post and bless for reminding us. Seeing the video lots of us wanted to go to NYC.
The band and bassist Mark White were very underrated. For me, one of the best bass players in the world. He has a unique thumb technique. I talked to him once and said he was friends with Victor Wooten. They developed the same technique
The year is 2008, a perfect spring afternoon is upon us. Spin doctors are playing a free outdoor concert in Albany NY at the "tulip festival". The whole gang has been planning around this for weeks. At just 16, this was going to be my first concert without the parents. We take the city bus downtown and start drinking cheap vodka mixed with gatorade. A terrible combination, but I was too young and stupid to care. By the time we got to the park, the buzz had washed over me like a cool wave. We make our way to center stage just in time and had prime viewing. During the set I meet my would-be summer fling, a catholic school girl with mutual friends. We danced, shared a few laughs, a joint, and enjoyed the music together. Life is good.
Not only were they all over the radio, But their guitar work from this song (and the intro to two princes) was on practically every sporting event and football game in the mid 90's!!!
Holy crap. I COMPLETELY forgot about the Spin Doctors until I was going through a box of my old CDs tonight. This CD probably hasn't been played for 20+ years - sorry CD! Thankfully there's UA-cam now and I can watch the music video I've definitely watched. Technology is great isn't it?
this song brings back the best memories from my early nineties summers. This whole album was so amazing. kisses to you guys for this. I wish things now were the way they were then💜
La recuerdo mucho cuando la ponían en radio Doble 9 y la grabé en cassette, después la ponía 1000 veces de camino a la playa cuando aprendía a surferar en Pampilla, que recuerdos
I'd been a fan of the songs when they were played on the radio ... however, I saw them in concert, and I was completely blown away. It was a like a 2-1/2 guitar lesson. Eric Schenkman can shred! You have to see them live!
I just saw them in a free concert last night in Rochester, MN. They are a very fun group to watch and they don't take themselves too damn seriously. Great time!
A hidden gem in musicology. Every note beat and pulse kicks ass. They were a top shelf band.
Well said my friend.
This one is better than 2 Princes imo
Love this song. 60 years old and this still a fresh.
👍
It’s always about the drums
This drummer is a monster.
Very unique band beyond A level

Good to know Joe L (Thanks for sharing that)
Heart warming to hear ☺
A stand up guy in addition to being so so talented. Give him a shout @TheChrisBarron
His daughter is on TIKTOK and she celebrates the hell out of him. I love this band so much .
Highly underrated song. I honestly love to listen to this song on repeat waaaaay more than Two Princes
Two princes is a good song, Jimmy Olsen Blues and What time is it are GREAT songs.
earworm. I keep singing parts out of nowhere 30 years later.
Is it great song very funky for the speed it's going at
I love this song.
I dont necessarily hate two princes, but it is one of two songs i skip on this album along with off my line. The rest of the album is great
The world needs bands like this on the radio again.
Actually, we all just need to go back to 1993.
If you're going I'm coming with you.
Can I come too?
I'm down
I'll bring the beer. When do we leave? Can I have my young 20 year old body back too? lol

Seen them live in the late 90es. Really worth it- just do it brother!
