i’m so glad you mentioned it’s tough to be a bug for attractions that might overstimulate nuerodivergent kids! i cried when i went on that ride despite being 13 at the time - not because i was scared, but because i was overwhelmed by all the elements of the show. it was super embarrassing as a moody teen and really freaked me out that i reacted that way at a kids show.
Bro same, and I was like 20. A decade later and I still shudder when I think about that show. Also, I just looked it up - it’s only 9 minutes?? I legit thought it was like a 20 minute show.
Something I learned from my last trip: even though you don't get charged for meals for babies, they still count towards your party count at restaurants. So even though we only had 4 people actually eating at each restaurant, we still had the automatic gratuity added for being a party of 6 because of our little ones
I haven't been to the parks since the whole "you'd better make your food mobile orders early in the day so you're not left hungry" thing, but I hate that it's come to that. How am I supposed to know when I'll be hungry or what I'm going to want to eat this long in advance? I suppose most people will have a somewhat set time for when they have their meals, but eating whenever I feel like it is one of the things I like most about my solo trips.
Oh how I wish I could thumbs this up multiple times! I too am a solo Disney goer and the last time I went (in 2019), Mobile Order was like this secret that no one knew about. You could hop on the app whenever you felt hungry, decide where you wanted to eat and basically stroll past all of the queues. Your food would be ready pretty much as soon as you got to the restaurant. Now it’s become basically mandatory to use and somehow not a time saver at all? How does that make sense? As you said, how will I know when I’m going to feel hungry? Why should I have to decide what restaurant I want to eat at and what food and what time before I’ve even got to the park? I don’t really want to have to plan out my day down to ‘I have to be in Tomorrowland to eat at Cosmic Ray’s at 11.45’. Ugh. Plus with the arrival of my most-hated ‘Genie+’ next week, queues for rides are going to be ten times longer as the paid elites stroll in, so you might be stuck in a line on the other side of the park from where you’ve ‘planned’ to eat anyway. I honestly detest every decision Disney has made since the pandemic so I might be taking it a bit further than you LOL!
Last time I went for some of my favorites it was forced. I hate putting my credit card in a Disney app I don't trust them to have high quality security on their little phone app. I refused to eat at my favorite place because of this.
I think you will probably be okay unless you are going at a busy time. What I did on my last trip was make a reservation when we had some downtime, like waiting in line for Slinky Dog Dash. I knew that we would want to eat after we rode and put in an order then for when I thought we would be done. At that point you know where you will be going and about what time (you can always change the time if you are running late). This means I could hit the "I'm here" button right when I got there and get it sooner.

“Don’t act like you didn’t close your eyes on haunted mansion when you were little.” Yes, yes I did. But I am WAY more traumatized by It’s Tough to Be a Bug
Ugh, I hate Tough to Be a Bug. I tense up too much with the wasps. The last time I went with my family my dad insisted we go. I ended up just sitting on the edge of the chair and doing some deep breathing to relax. (I was 21 the last time we went as a family)
I always scoot up for the hornets, but I really do live the show. It's a must-do for me! (I have a severe wasp allergy, so the hornets really are a bit traumatic.)
One of simplest things is bringing a reusable water bottle to use and fill up throughout the day. Hydration is such a simple yet easily forgettable thing, and it can really help lower the number of meltdowns, especially on the really hot days.
Hey AJ!! I just noticed that my favorite slushy is gone from Magic Kingdom!!!! It was the witch’s brew from Prince Eric’s cart!!!! Let’s spread the word and bring it back!!!!!!!
I have a party of 3. So when I book the order does that mean I pick out what each person wants to eat(?). And you first book your order to you need to pick a time too? And, after all that ... can you change the time later ?
Yeah that’s the only pain is the person ordering orders for all and pays for all. You select your time when you order. So right when we got into the park person A would order lunch while person B would order dinner. You pick out a time but it’s a window so you have some flexibility on when you actually have to be at the restaurant. In your time window you’ll go to the restaurant and click that you’re there and then they make your food. If you eat McDonalds I recommend you do the mobile order and pay through their app. Process is pretty close so you can test something out before being in the park.
Heading to Disney World at the end of January for the first time and I’m very grateful for all of the awesome advice! Also heartbroken that Expedition Everest will be closed during my trip :(
I had a special room request and, a couple of days ago, tried calling. While on hold, I went to MDE, got in a chat with a wonderful, helpful cast member, and quickly got my request taken care of. I highly recommend the online chat! It saves so much time!
Thank you soooo much for posting this! We are planning on going to disney the week of January 24th-29th! I was wanting to stay at Pop Culture for the skyliner! Ty so much for saving me from disappointment!
Personal experience, extra contacts and glasses help big time! About 13 years ago, I lost a contact lens and my brother broke his glasses on our Animal Kingdom day! I had a spare set thankfully, but we had to order and ship glasses for my brother.
I am a fan of your content. Love to start the day with your videos. I now know way too much about disney hehehe. I'll be in the parks this dec. Can't wait for your reviews about the night christmas special event. I want to try all the desserts. :)
Seriously though, it was bad enough when we had to fastpass 60 days in advance, but now I have to decide on my lunch choices at 7am to ensure I can get some food at all. Disney really needs to fix this, as that is a terrible experience for guests.
Even though I like POV rides and I can’t stop myself from watching them I wish I didn’t because it ruins the element of surprise and wonder for seeing it for the first time, which should be saved for your own in person experience
I'm glad they're there. I don't watch them because it's just not the same, but my husband has trouble with drops on rides and he would watch the POV videos to make sure the ride wouldn't give him vertigo.
Thank you for this video especially #5. I will be going to disneyworld for the first time next week and my biggest concern is the overstimulation and panic attacks I get from crowds. It's nice to know there will be areas where I can go to relax and calm myself down.
There's also a nice, out-of-the way garden in the Japan pavilion. Several of the World Showcase pavilions have quiet places to relax. Morocco is another nice place to sit and it has an indoor area if it's hot.
My tricks are headphones with my favorite music, Disney music or relaxing music. My pop it and earplugs are also a lifesaver. My backpack is my “security blanket” so I take that everywhere with me. Although I always overpack, I know I’ll have everything I or family members might want. Whenever I see a bridge or waterfall you know I will stop and breathe a little. You got this!
We almost got caught in that Skyliner closure. We specifically picked art of animation because of its connection to the Skyliner which we love and when we found out the Skyliner was going to be closed we moved our vacation of a week. It would’ve been a huge bummer!
I made the mistake of booking a race weekend a couple of years ago. Let's just say I know all the back roads/entrances into Disney parks now...lol. If you aren't into traffic, skip race weekends!
Which grocery app delivery do you recommend when staying at a Disney resort? Shipt vs. Instacart? Or is there another app that works great in the Disney World area? I'll be going to Disney World at the end of January and definitely would like a case of water and probably some snacks delivered to my hotel. Thanks
Sorry so late but if you’re staying at the cabins in fort wilderness you can get groceries already there when you arrive. I know that’s probably not where you’re staying but I thought I would say.
Sorry for the delay but I did a free 30 day trial of Walmart+, and it was great! I didn’t pick any delicate berries for my order because I can be so particular, but I ordered other fruit, drinks, yogurt, milk, snacks and sandwich ingredients!
Besides Run Disney if doing Disneyland look out for the LA Marathon. The choir I was in sang at Disneyland during it. There were so many people they had to close the gates.
We were just at Disney this week and I will say the biggest closure everyone should know is the fastpass system. Prepare to stand in a standby line for hours. My feet hurt more this year than any other year and we were only walking 12-15k steps per day this year vs our 25-30k steps per day in years past. Pretty big difference when you are standing in 45-80 min lines for everything all day long. Let’s pray that genie+ resolves some of that but I do miss the days of being able to score 18 free fastpasses per day.
AJ can you do a blog about hiw to link all the magic to your my disney experience and magic bands love your blog its the best one out there and I tell everyone to watch you for the best up to date disney parks
The tip about watching POV ride videos is key. I wish I knew this ahead of our first trip 3 years ago. Our 2 youngest children still talk about how scary the 3 mentioned rides were, haunted mansion, tough to be a bug, and dinosaur.
What the train is not operating???? When we were children going to Disneyland was such a rare treat, every other year or two. Going to Disneyworld even more rare as adults, we are all scattered. But we always started our Disney adventures by riding the train, I know Disney won't eliminate them , I hope they are all returned better than before.
Do you guys happen to have a video on how to honeymoon in Disney? My fiancé and I are planning on going next year, and this is the first time we’re planning a trip ourselves. 😂
Someone else has commented a few comments below you that you apparently can! I thought it didn’t work (I assumed they put RFID chips in them like the refill mugs), but maybe I’m wrong! Try it and see!
There is a minecraft server that does it's best to recreate the parks and rides using blocks. It even links your location to a website with the correct audio. I recommend it to people that either want a practice run at the parks from their computer, or even to young kids. Haunted mansion and tower of terror look very funny as blocks, but it is so similar that it might take away some of the shock and fear when they get to see the real ride. It even has copies of the firework/light shows several times a day. MC parks for those interested. I had a blast racing around (and being able to teleport to rides is a great feature you'll wish you had in real life).
the pov idea is exactly what my mom's done with me n my brother for years, but i think the worse overstimulating ''ride'' ive been on in disney was stitch's great escape. all the noise, feels, and not being able to look to your side made it dreadful as a
+100 to the contact recommendation. Several years back my boyfriend lost a contact on a what was California Screamin and had to wear his glasses the rest of the trip.
I thought the skyliner was only going to be down going from the hotel to Epcot during January. I didn't think it affected travel to Hollywood Studios per the WDW site. I may have misunderstood.
Is the week following runDisney usually busy due to people staying the following week? Family currently has a trip booked arriving Feb. 27, 2022. Thanks!
Thanks for another great video AJ! Do you have a video dedicated to tips for Disney with toddlers/kids?? If not and you can make one before I bring my two year old in two weeks that would be awesome 😂
I know I'm not a new DFB video (disappointing I know) but as a veteran parent who frequents Disney, I do have a couple things for you. Taking a 2 yr old is tough tough tough but if you go to the park at rope drop in the morning, make sure (if u have a significant other and other kids or not) to maybe after lunch take the young one back to the hotel room/pool for nap and some a/c and the ability to stretch his/her little legs. Then just meet up with everyone else around dinner time and enjoy the park as a whole family until close or whatever. Long hot days at the park with a messed up nap/sleeping schedule can make your trip a complete and utter nightmare for all involved. I would say do your best to keep a normal "home" type of schedule and I know its expensive and inconvenient to do at Disney, but will be so worth it in the end. For the littlevobe hydrate hydrate hydrate, little ones dry up fast in that heat and sun. Mostly plan for a lot of flexibility in your trip, and go in with a go with ur flies type of attitude! I hope some of our experience will help your Disney go smoothly! I hope you and your family have an amazing trip!!
I was in dinsey this week his so crowded all 4 park in look like summer all kids was not in school. All ride was so crowded line is so long for ride so many people some of the ride or close down?
Some years ago, discovered usually easy to get a Value Resort room near a bus stop at another nearby Value Resort. For many years, been a ground floor hotel room guest for all my travels, because less time coming and going to those rooms, no elevator waits or time climbing stairs. My top petty annoyance, construction work in the parks. Hate those temporary walls, seeing or hearing construction equipment, because they trash my Disney experience state of mind.
This mobile order quick service is sounding like a pain. Kids aren't necessarily hungry and you can predict that time by 2 hours? I just don't remember this being an issue before mobile ordering. We never had a problem just walking up and getting our food???
You can still do this if you pay cash. But I would go by the timeliness you use at home ie: if you eat lunch at 12:30 at home set up your window for around the same time as soon as you get up , that way you will be able to get close to the usual time.
Does anyone know if that popcorn trick works with the special mixes at Batuu (or if they do special mixes elsewhere)? Or do those stay full-price regardless of a bucket?
At Knott's they have a fast pass for ALL the top attractions but its around $70 and is only sold at one store near hearts tales and isn't really promoted. At least half the employees at Knott's doesn't even know it exist let alone were to purchase one.
Be careful in Disney springs with finding dinner. Make sure you know where you want to go and make a reservation. Especially on the weekends. I'm in Disney right now and you most definitely might not be able to just walk up to very many places and get a table.
If I create a mobile order when I wake up, can I change my order before I pick it up? I'm guessing I need to pick my food in the morning but what if I change my mind about my meal choice when I'm ready to eat. 🤔
Note (from experience): WDW hotel gift shops do not have contact lens solution nor lens cases. *But* they are available in the Baby Care centers at the theme parks.

But we always started our Disney adventures by riding the train, I know Disney won't eliminate them , I hope they are all returned better than before.
That truck *traumatized* me as a child. It took a lot to get me back on Test Track years later
Would love a comprehensive video for people traveling in the next couple months. Feels like there are so many changes its hard to keep up
Do you guys happen to have a video on how to honeymoon in Disney? My fiancé and I are planning on going next year, and this is the first time we’re planning a trip ourselves. 😂
Yes i can imagine Florida having colder seasons considering im from there
With the mobile ordering, does that apply to all food? What if you eat smaller meals at off times, at least for lunch?
I’m 19 and I still cry on bugs life
Popcorn bucket question... I bought a bucket on my last trip. Can I bring it back for refills on my next trip?
Someone else has commented a few comments below you that you apparently can! I thought it didn’t work (I assumed they put RFID chips in them like the refill mugs), but maybe I’m wrong! Try it and see!
I have used the same bucket for 3 years. The employees don't get paid enough to care. They are working 12 hour shifts in the Florida heat.
my first marathon was the Disney marathon - it was about 3 miles of really cool stuff to see and hear and 23.2 miles of service roads and highway :(
There is a minecraft server that does it's best to recreate the parks and rides using blocks.
I had a blast racing around (and being able to teleport to rides is a great feature you'll wish you had in real life).
the pov idea is exactly what my mom's done with me n my brother for years, but i think the worse overstimulating ''ride'' ive been on in disney was stitch's great escape. all the noise, feels, and not being able to look to your side made it dreadful as a
If your military- buy your memory maker at the gate, it's like 70 for your trip. but you can't get the deal online before.
Ok tip number 9 is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SMART how come I never thought about that thank you AJ
Is there a tips video for when you bring people for the first time?
I used to work at Knott's and one lady complained an attraction was closed but was noted on a sign just outside the park.
+100 to the contact recommendation. Several years back my boyfriend lost a contact on a what was California Screamin and had to wear his glasses the rest of the trip.
We want to take our 3 year old during winter, I'd love a Disney for toddlers video!!!
You do realize that they will not even remember this time?!
Better to wait until they are 5-6.
Don't take them till they are old enough to see a princess and literally recognize them and call out their name. Waste of money waste of time
Please talk about Disney's "smellitizers" in one of your videos! Thanks!
I thought the skyliner was only going to be down going from the hotel to Epcot during January. I didn't think it affected travel to Hollywood Studios per the WDW site. I may have misunderstood.
I was not expecting the truck or the sudden stops on test track, and I'm in my 30s lol
Memory maker military discount was 50% off. I spoke to guest relations and got my cost adjusted from the $199 to $99
I closed my eyes for Haunted Mansion and Space Mtn.
Great tips
Living with The Land is only open until 5pm rn. At least it was last week 😩😩
I’ve been riding dinosaur since high school and have never kept my eyes open. That thing is terrifying
I was in dinsey this week his so crowded all 4 park in look like summer all kids was not in school. All ride was so crowded line is so long for ride so many people some of the ride or close down?
We will soon come to Disney world in 2022
I am going there the week after thanksgiving. Are crowds typically on the lower end that week?
It’s better to go the week before Thanksgiving it’s all the crowds are there afterwards
With the popcorn buckets, can you get different flavored refills?
No only classic butter
Does anyone know if that popcorn trick works with the special mixes at Batuu (or if they do special mixes elsewhere)? Or do those stay full-price regardless of a bucket?
We just stayed at pop century and we didn’t feel it was that spread out.
At Knott's they have a fast pass for ALL the top attractions but its around $70 and is only sold at one store near hearts tales and isn't really promoted. At least half the employees at Knott's doesn't even know it exist let alone were to purchase one.
Wow
I'm still wondering when they're going to close it, and change it over to BOBIGERLAND\WORLD funded by Bob Cheapek.
Wish we have popcorn refill in Disneyland
Do you guys have a list of direct-to-hotel phone numbers that we can use for specific reasons like you mentioned?
Be careful in Disney springs with finding dinner. Make sure you know where you want to go and make a reservation. Especially on the weekends. I'm in Disney right now and you most definitely might not be able to just walk up to very many places and get a table.
I’m so sad about Everest !!! It’s my favourite ride at animal kingdom and it’s gonna be closed well I’m going
If I create a mobile order when I wake up, can I change my order before I pick it up? I'm guessing I need to pick my food in the morning but what if I change my mind about my meal choice when I'm ready to eat. 🤔
I have stayed at Pop Century Bus was not that far
I AM GOING FOR MY B-DAY IN 2022!!!!!
