got the game a couple years ago as a gift. I put it on the shelf for a couple of years not thinking much of it. Two years ago, another friend had the game as well and wanted to play it at a local game night. So we did. It was a great game, lots of fun, very easy to learn and pick up.
When another friend, who I had personally gotten in to table top gaming, wanted to do something simple but fun with his young children, I brought this down from the shelf and unwrapped it so he could play it with his kids. It was an amazing way for him to introduce his children in to a much larger world of gaming. His children was 5 and 7 at the time. They love the game and I think it has done well to bring his family closer together.
as a side note, don't play with his daughter. I don't know how, but she marches through everything in the damn game. Us two are getting owned in the first rooms, and she is just frolicking through dragons, mind-flairs, giants, you name it. She is like a little disney princess of death!
Never misses a fucking roll. How the Hell man, how the hell!

My grandson (6 yrs) and I play this game frequently. We will play two games in succession. First we play by the rules, and the next, I let him make up his own rules. Usually something along the lines of picking one of the monsters as a pet that helps you defeat the others. He really has a lot of fun with it, so, in turn, I have a lot of fun as well. This is a great vehicle for introducing him to the concepts of D&D proper, so I think we are well under way to graduating to the next level.

OK, so I am a few years past seeing this, which is ok, some would say I’m a few years past my prime. I ad the 1982 version of this game in high school and college. Enter girlfriend....relationship....breakup. She kept it.About two years ago I saw the newer version and Barnes and Noble and picked it up. Over this weekend my roommate and I tried playing. We succeeded, albeit, completely incorrectly it seems. But it was fun enough to warrant another play. When I bought it, I was simply going to keep it as a collectible piece for the “I FINALLY HAVE IT BACK!!!” Claim. And my roommate is not the type I’d normally think of to play these. I was wrong! And we’re friends. Goes to show you can always find out something about someone. This review and run through was perfect and when we venture forth again, we’ll have a better understanding. I’m also grabbing a dice tower....she’s a bit of a wild roller. Thank you.

I disagree with the notion that succinct conflict resolution equals "for kids". The problem with some table tops, and some players, is they associate overly complicated conflict resolution as "complex" and therefor there is an association that you are a more sophisticated gamer for having endured it. No one would call Chess a kids game, but its a pretty simple system of resolution. As you said, Dungeon can be very competitive, and quite fun.

I've not played this newer version, but I have the original version and second version. I love it! One of my favorite versions of D&D because it simplifies the game so that people who find RPGs confusing or intimidating can just dive in and play it. It's a great value in D&D stuff too. You get everything you need to play for less than what a new copy of a player's handbook costs. It also scratches the occasional itch I get to play video games like Gauntlet, only at the dining room table.
The KREO D&D stuff is super awesome! I found several of them at Big Lots a while back and I love displaying and messing with them. One of these days, I'm going to team up with a friend of mine who has a ton of LEGO stuff and we're going to make a LEGO/KREO D&D dungeon run with it. D&D Clue is quite fun as well. A great way to introduce the concept of role playing to people. In fact, if you play Dungeon! along with D&D Clue with a group like this, they get a simplified but still fun intro to fighting and exploring in the former and to investigating and intrigue 'non-combat' encounters in the latter. D&D Clue has a very very simple, optional monster fighting mechanic that makes it a little different from regular Clue as well.

Yeah... I passed by this game after one look at the cover; with that said I think you made a good case for it even if it still isn't my cup of tea.
On a side note I stand corrected about how young someone can start playing tabletop (something I said during the last mappening)

I really appreciate your review. It was really helpful After watching your review it occurred to me that I actuallyuse to have this game. I had the version from 1982. I remember playing it and I totally loved it. What made me remember was the part about being able to lose treasure and having it available for anyone to steal. My 5 year daughter actually likes playing Talisman and has been able to play for up to 3 hours which amazes me. I'm definitely going to try this game with her as well. Thank you for your review of the game. It brought back a lot of fun memories

    Hi, congratulations for the video.
    A clarification.
If the hero starts his turn in a chamber where there are less than 3 defeated monsters can he leave the chamber or is he forced to encounter a monster (obviously in his previous turn the hero has already encountered a monster in that chamber)?
In my opinion, a wise rule could be the following: when a hero enters a room or a chamber and encounters a monster, on his next turn he will necessarily have to move to leave that chamber or room (even if there are other monsters to encounter and regardless if in his previous turn he defeated or did not defeat the monster he encountered).
    Thanks.
    Greetings.

I have a board game that i think is progressive and expansive wile not taking to many steps and to much time like dnd. I hope i can eventually get the game published. I wonder if i should try to go directly to WOTC. At the least maybe i can invest in your board art.

I'm planning to run a game for my friends, first of which is a murder hobo, second one you would classify as a power-gamer/tactician and the third is very shy and he doesn't believe that he can do anything. The game really needs an expansion for new spells and maybe more magic items. Also I do not see the roll of the cleric in this game- he is just pretty weak without much ability. I think getting a -1 for enemy damage or roll for a boon from a god might be cool.

Just got this game and played with the family. One word of advice..only play the wizard. The game is very unbalanced. The wizard is way over powered because of damage she can deal and she has teleport which speeds up the end game process. Monsters attack and hit characters the same way.
Sorta a game kill in my opinion.
