I was pretty pleased they made the box bigger. It made it easier to add my own minis -- which is something I think others must have asked for. So thank you Wizards of the Coast for listening!
ive got my original heroquest and the update. minis are great, but the game is just ok. we have massive darkness and the zombicide games to be much more fun
my group found this game to be a little lacking, theres just not enough ways to screw your opponent. we came up with some house rules with the dice (which you now roll 2 for movement, so its faster as well). also, you keep the cards of monsters you defeat as XP to spend. here is the rundown: COMBAT DOUBLES Any doubles count as a win, regardless of monster, and cause and additional effect: Fighter: Mighty, defeats up to two enemies in the room Rogue: Sneaky, rolls again for movement Wizard: Spellbook, regains a spell Cleric: Blessed, treasure award one level up MOVEMENT DOUBLES (Players always roll 2D6 for movement) Fighter: Rolls on monster chart against selected opponent Rogue: Can steal from selected opponent. Item stolen is selected by opponent. Wizard: Can teleport himself or an opponent. This does not initiate a combat in the destination for an opponent or Wizard, but does reveal the monster card. Traps will take effect as normal. Cleric: Hold Person, make an opponent lose their next turn HOW IT WORKS To activate Doubles, Players must spend an XP (defeated monster/trap) card. Players roll against the selected opponent. Each player rolls one die, the Player has to exceed the opponents roll to cause the effect. Opponents can spend their own XP cards (up to 4) BEFORE the roll to defend against a Doubles attack. Each card counts as one point on the defense die. Players can also spend XP cards for additional movement, 1 space per card, up to 3
Hi! Great channel. I enjoy a lot your vídeos. I recently started researching D&D videos. As a teenager, I was a fan of the Steve Jackson & Ian Liviginstone (Fighting Fantasy) books and now I feel the RPG appeal again, even though I do not have a group of friends to play D&D, so I'm learning from your videos and I will try to adapt myself to play alone/solo. Do you plan to do some review of the D&D Adventure System boardgames series: The Legend of Drizzt, Castle Ravenloft, etc.
Not yet, but that sounds like a really good idea for an upcoming video. As far as finding games go, I recommend this Facebook Group: facebook.com/groups/tabletoprpgoneshot/?ref=br_rs You might be able to join in on some online games.
It was the 2012 Edition of the game so it is sadly out of print. Some local game stores may have some in stock, as much as I hate to suggest it, Ebay may be your best bet to tracking it down
Just wanted to say thank you for your channel, I am planning on getting into Dungeons And Dragons, and as a start I just bought this yesterday, I want to do a full campaign of D&D, but the books are way to expensive for me at the moment, I noticed that the 3.5 version's of the books are a lot cheaper, would you recommend them for a new player? And also I have the Pathfinder beginner box set, with a 2 sided mat, and card stock pawns, would the mat, and pawns also work for my first D&D campaign? Thanks for your time, and your amazing videos.
Hello Eugene, I'm glad you found my videos helpful. D&D 3.5 is a very rules intensive version of the game, which doesn't make it the friendliest version for beginners. That said 3.5 does still have an active fan base so I'm sure you can find people online who can help you with it. Pathfinder is also based on D&D 3.5 rules and might be worth looking into as well. Lastly you might want to consider downloading the D&D 5th Edition Basic Rules from the Wizards of the Coast website. 5th Edition is lighter on concrete rules which makes it easier for the DM to make Judgement calls on how they want things to work. And yes the pawns and mat would work perfectly for your game. If you do have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. I love teaching D&D.
DravenSwiftbow Thank you for the input sir! I appreciate your input, I will definitely download the rules, maybe after some practice sessions, if you guys wouldn't mind? I would love if I could sit in on one of your guy's Google Hangout sessions! Lol the reason I ask is, I don't have many friends lol and the one's I do have don't play it. So at this point I need all the help I can get lol! But I thank you for your time, your reply, and your videos! I appreciate it!
I'll be honest, I'm torn between the two. I personally love the art from the 2012 version, but I also think the 2014 version has more personality in the art (plus it has Drizzt on the box and I love the Drizzt novels). The game is also geared towards a younger audience so the cartoon art style is probably more fitting. Either way I don't think you can go wrong with either
+DravenSwiftbow I just saw you were looking for the 1975 version and jumped on eBay.ca since I saw you live in Canada too and they have this listed. Says its rarely played and in good condition ... hopefully maybe you can acquire it! www.ebay.ca/itm/Dungeon-Board-Game-/131824726676?hash=item1eb15db294:g:dOEAAOSwMN9XQzEf Good Luck!

I was thinking of picking this up for my son and me to play for Christmas, but I ended up getting Hero Kids RPG instead.
You couldn't go wrong either way. I've had Dungeon since 2012 and have still yet to play it.
I do still intend to get it :) . . . Maybe he can buy it for me for Father's day and we can play it.
I looks like a lot of fun, especially with a group. I hope you do end up getting it.
can i ask ,where you get the new edition with the realistic dragon fight sene, please let me know as i would like to buy one thanks

I still have the 2nd edition that i got when I was a teen. Unfortunately it just got water & mold damage and is not savable.

What do you think about the Stout Hearted Heroes Dungeoneers KS btw?
I haven't heard of it unfortunately. I'll have to check it out
What is your favorite? I bought the 2014 version

T. Wu Thanks for watching
I played this game back in the 80s and loved it. My friends wouldn’t let me play D&D with them (“No girls allowed!”), so I played this instead. LOL!
So the 2012 version is better?
+PersianImm0rtal They are the exact same, the only difference is the art style, 2014 is more cartoonish.
+DravenSwiftbow thanks for the explanation! Too bad they had to dumb it down, I don't even think that kids like it, not to mention the adults.
first 1 came out in 1975
alan smith I know, I wish I had a copy of it. I'm always looking

Wow, thank you! I'll check it out
It would be NICE if someone can do a demonstration video on how to play this game for people like me who do care to read the directions.
LSweet2007 I'm working on one
where did you get it?
Mike F I got them at my local bookstore. The chain I went to is called Coles. It's part of the Chapters brand which we have in Canada.
These are terrible. The 1900s version is far better.
looking to buy. Which version is best do you think? :)
Lol funny I played dungeon yesterday with my son
Awesome, I'm looking to get my Nephew into the hobby, he's just about that age.
Yeah, I played last week with my dad, Mr. Game Show. He's always laughing!
I really wish they didn't use the cheap cardboard instead of figurines for the 2 newest editions
and the 2014 edition is really bad looking
It's no bad looking--it's a game meant to get _kids_ interested.
which version (sorry if I missed it) has figurines?
