My mirror piece (only) got knocked loose after hail hit it from a tornado. I didn’t know until I merged on the highway. I taped it. It last through a trip to OKC and Dallas. It finally flew off 😩. I saw that I couldn’t wait for my ins adjuster. Ordered a $25 mirror from Amazon with zero instructions. It didn’t even come with the flaps. I had to use the ones from the previous one. I’m a single mom and this video helped me greatly!! Thank you!!!
Must be a winter thing! My mirror glass left the vehicle on the A303 probably due to the adhesive, cold and the heated elements all working against one another. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
My mirror started shaking whilst I was driving down the motorway and then suddenly the glass was gone. Heating element remained. The Volvo repair shop quoted me 20x what I paid for just ordering a replacement glass with heating element, but it came with no instructions and I didn't understand the purpose of the flaps. Your video helped me figure it out, so thanks!
Hi, thanks for the video, it helps enormously. Subscribed. :) A couple of things. First, I live in France and bought my replacement mirror from Auto Parts and Mirrors in Canterbury in the UK. No instructions, but the fit of the mirror is excellent and it arrived very quickly in a well protected package with the white flaps included. Second, regarding the heating, I just tested it and it doesn't matter which wire goes on which post. It's just a heating element, so the polarity isn't important. Third, a common failure mode seems to be that the glue degrades and then the mirror glass eventually falls off to reveal the plastic holder with the heater. The symptoms are that you notice the mirror flapping/wobbling, or it's in a different position and you didn't remember moving it, or even you move it but it doesn't seem able to go far enough - because it's actually partly detached and is already sitting squint. If you notice this, stop ASAP and recover the mirror glass before it falls off, which it will eventually. At that point you can simply glue it back on with mirror glue from the hardware store. Of course, if the heater has stopped working then you may as well buy a new mirror which comes attached to a new heater.

My glass mirror is coming loose on the right side mirror (US version). I noticed a slight vibration in the glass while driving. Could it be fixed by pressing on the center of the mirror glass (as shown by Drive Life)? Or do I need to order another glass mirror. The motor seems to be working okay. Thanks
Was just researching this, anyone know the part number for this convex mirror for a p3 with heating and dimming tying to find a replacement stateside so I don't have to attach a blind spot mirror and keep the oem look
You are right about the keys. You don't to lose them as they can only be replaced by a Volvo dealer at a cost of £340 each - they have to download the specific software for your particular car from Volvo to programme it. BTW I'm not telling you how I know this except to say that it involved accidentally dropping the key and an HGV.😭 Incidentally. Do you know how to prgramme the memory settings for the key? I've tried this according to the manual, but it doesn't seem to work.
