When I saw him first time I already knew he will be perfect Rhino for my display. Totally not regret buying him without seeing the reviews. But now I know I won't be disappointed those heads, holding hands, painting and sculpting this is THE RHINO!!!!!!! I wanted. Well I would like screaming head more but most important he is angry as he should be

I made a custom Rhino figure. It came out surprisingly well. It was a 3 inch rhino head from ultimate Spider-Man and an old dc doomsday body with some hulk arms painted black and comic Thanos baf legs

I feel ya man, I can't quit Marvel Legends either. I just picked up the new 20th Anniversary Hulk, and I feel so guilty, but damn its such a great figure! I can't wait to get my hands on this Rhino. Both of the head sculpts are amazing, but that neutral head with the slight sneer is just so badass!

Thank you so much for these figure comparisons and size comparisons they help a lot, a big part of everything I look into is scale and size comparisons and how they will look set up with others, including other lines, so these have been really helpful and one of my favorite features. If you have a ruler or something, that might be a nice thing to start it off with too by placing the ruler next to the figure for a moment, so then I can look at my own ruler here and get an idea of how it will stand if I don't have these other figures on hand.

No shoulder pad and lighter colour Rhino is amazing!
New retro Rhino is a vast improvement over the BAF version but I'll stick to the Toybiz version. It's more scale accurate and has a great amount of POA and fits in perfect with Hasbro ML line.

I was writing my huge 4 part "topic starter" in the Jigsaw video's comments section so I couldn't write in this chat! For anyone who might want to discuss the Depp and Heard trial, please use the Jigsaw video and my comment chain in particular to keep discussion of that trial somewhat limited to that area and drawing people to that area, I want to see if somehow that might add to the Jigsaw video's views too lol but I doubt it, and there wouldn't be much of a way to tell even if it did, since a lot of people might somehow also be interested in Jigsaw or images of that figure!
I'm going to carefully look at these two videos to see if 76 CAD or more seems justified for mainly just a figure's head sculpt which I'm not even too crazy about overall (it doesn't, and I prefer unmasked Deadpool as representing more of a mixed-and-matched Jigsaw type look based on the original appearance of Jigsaw and even the Medicos Jagi figure potentially, which actually that might be my answer to the Jigsaw question!) or the Rhino when I like the masked Rhino head (which I might buy to attach to this one, unless the pegs don't work, which would be annoying, since that masked head is expensive too).
For a lot of these things, these "lesser" seeming things that aren't "quite good enough", I feel like the expenses involved have made it all the more unlikely that I'll ever get these things, even if I had the funds for them.
I just feel like a chump or an arse (as in mule, donkey, eee-awww) paying so much money for some of these pretty low quality, semi-gummy now, really super expensive things (here in Canada with the Canadian currency). Like, how could I do that? It seems wrong almost, even if I had tons of money, 76 CAD or more even for just some ordinary figure and mainly for their head exclusively to port on some other body (since I don't really care for his suited version but rather his super-suited spandex type super-villain options or "reverse Punisher" type options).
Maybe someday someone will make a cool custom or something out of this which might justify a price that may end up similar to just this ordinary version.
I WANT to buy these toys, I want to buy things that are just whatever, and WOULD, but the Rhino is a huge amount too here, like really expensive everywhere I look, even if I had pre-ordered it, and the price seemed ridiculous to me, even if it was less than what people were trying to sell the Build-A-Figure for, it was like 80 CAD or something close to that for this new Rhino? When I can get really fancy stuff for 100 CAD or 120 or something? Why the HECK would I do that?!
I feel you, man. Even if they're nice looking figures, they're not worth their price specially outside the USA.
Here in México Marvel legends are quite more expensive, often double or triple the msrp price, that's the reason I stopped collecting them, it doesn't feel right at those prices.

They've forced me out too and my collecting in general has really taken a hit, now I guess I'll focus on displaying them mainly, because I think I won't be justified in buying too much more. The last few things I've pre-ordered are from the foreign market like East Asian (Japan and China) and a lot of the American brands I ended up cancelling overall. I have a few Super7 things lined up which I may cancel but the way they got me with those is that they become ridiculously expensive and hard to get later, so it was a "now or never" type of thing for those, but I hate that sort of pressure as well and feeling pushed by those kinds of concerns for things I'd like at reasonable prices that should remain available and at those reasonable prices. I have already built up a huge amount of stuff over many different periods of collecting though, so I have more than enough, but it has left a little bit of an initial vacuum these days and some irritability that it doesn't feel like it used it, when I could even have some silly ideas and just buy a few things to make some scenes or ideas or kitbashed customizations possible, but now I have to really, really feel like the product is worth the price, and most just don't seem that way, plus they are seemingly getting lower quality materials and production put into them too, even as they raise the prices more and more in rapid succession!

That Rhino is a thing of beauty for sure. Glad I ordered two. One to set free and another to hang on my wall like a weirdo lol. I've decided since this anti plastic mandate I am going to collect the whole Spider-Man retro line on MOC too before it becomes a collectors dystopian wasteland. Always a good vid brother!

You have to take in the fact that marvel has that face scan tech and McFarland/DC doesn’t. The face scan tech costs a lot of money. I think that’s why almost all the toy companies don’t have decent face textures.

Man I can’t wait to hopefully find this one day. Just saw the anniversary hulk for around $60 in Canada so it’ll probably be expensive. Although the last rhino I’ve gotten is I think from the movie 3 line back in the day so I could definitely use the upgrade..same with Venom, even though the Knull two-pack is like $120 in Canada the last venom I got was from the third movie..way too long

Ok, I think your usage of the open hands has convinced me to keep the Rhino on pre-order. Great review! Quick ? though because I couldn't help but see how awesome they were ... Wolverine's claws? Are those the metal replacement claws you can buy online? They almost looked plastic (which I think I would prefer), but so much sturdier than what we usually get on him.

Even though Rhino 1st appears in Amazing #41, he spent most of his early days as a Hulk villain. Rhino didn't return to Spidey until Amazing #280 with the Sinister Syndicate (Beetle's team with Boomerang, Hydro-Man and Speed Demon). Also "the 20th anniversary guy" is Paul Harding. He did the 20th anniversary heads, Hammerhead's head, new doc strange and that SHIELD army builder to name a few.

Wow, the Don Rickles cum Harvey Weinstein head sculpt is pretty amazing looking when you showed it close up. Now I'm considering buying it along with eventually getting hold of the head sculpts from the original, if they will fit, because the paint work on this one looks better, even though I like when shoulder pads or things might cover up joint spaces or distract from them more or give more of a look that might justify their presence or existence, like the lines of armor making other lines like joint lines appear to be part of the suits structure or design. I even sort of liked the one really creepy smooth looking statue where he appears more like a slippery wet seal, and the techno version from the games, and even some versions from much older releases before modern Marvel Legends, but this is no doubt most likely to be the best Rhino release so far. It also might demonstrate how a 6 year old figure or whatever still might be impressive and superior to some more contemporary or current releases and things which haven't been released yet, due to the bar seemingly lowering, along with the prices getting higher rather than maintaining, which seems rude, this one doesn't look rude to me, BUT:
I realized this "Animated Series" carded bunch has a bunch of these slightly improved "cheat" figures, like Mysterio re-released, Hobgoblin re-released, and this too, and probably the worst of them so far was the Hobgoblin as a downgrade from the former version, whereas the Mysterio was likely a very minimal upgrade (as well as somewhat of a downgrade for some elements I was interested in), and this one was also mostly a visual upgrade. One thing they are really improving on for some figures is their face sculpting and eye paints.
I wish I cared about the design more though. It isn't that I don't like goofiness, I love goofiness, and that might be where the problem is for me, it isn't hitting the right balance for me mostly of cool and goofy, where if it was more goofy, I'd find it more cool, or if it was more cool, then I also wouldn't mind it, but its semi-realism and focus on good details that aren't really all that unrealistic or stupid kind of make it strange seeming to me, but maybe he has a story where he was pretending to be a real Rhino in a Zoo for some reason? Why is this criminal wasting time on all these perfect Rhino-esque details? I appreciate details though, and if it was just a plain gray suit I might have had a problem with that too! That is why I prefer the mask alternative to go more towards the "cool" angle if the goofiness or campiness isn't quite far enough. That is probably also why I even preferred the slick "seal" statue version as being wackier and creepier, but I find that a character or designer (in-universe) who would make a costume with so much unnecessary detail to mean they are too obsessed with things I don't feel the would be for the most part, unless it really was supposed to just look like a Rhino entirely, but then why the butt-patch-square-reveal face?

I'm not entirely sure a giant, buff, Don Rickles / Harvey Weinstein is really what I am looking for in my collection though, so for now, the Rhino crook is in a cruder, early crime form from Fortnite's blue Rhino figure:

Sadly as of late, it's been impossible to find any of the Walgreens releases here on the other side of the pond, so I've had to resort to ebay prices on most of those figures. Between that and the Hasbro price increases, I guess the kids better make sure they get a scholarship if they want to go to college. 🤣

A "charging" review, Dave. Imo the retro Rhino is a better looking figure than the Rhino BAF. Retro Rhino thankfully has no shoulder pads. I agree McFarland's head sculpts are shite excluding his Spawn and Monster figure lines.

Yeah the retro line and 20th style packaging are now dead since they are going plastic free…..they are gonna do something else to continue the idea of the retro but it will not be the same

i'm going to hold out another ten years until they manage to craft a more cylindrical waist on these hefty figs, the waist is just not cutting my cheese.
Can't wait to receive mine. The only thing I don't really like is the stubby legs. They just seem too short to me. But good posing will hide it.

Honestly I agree with the waist cut, it's a outdated articulation point the needs to be replaced considering most other lines have already implemented the ball jointed waist since late 2017 heck Hasbro's other line already have ball jointed waists legends is probably one of their only lines that for whatever reason refuses to update articulation if you're not Spider-Man

McFarland faces are really bad, Jon Kent anyone, plus Marvel Legends is way more diverse in every sense of the word from variety of characters to the different races of Marvel characters... even without Shang-Chi or Black Panther. It's why I only buy the minimum from McFarland like the Justice League and BatFamily members.
