The rutles are one of my favourite bands. No kidding. Neil Innes is just brilliant. Sadly missed.
I included The Rutles in my iTunes Beatles playlist. Based on number of plays, Get Up and Go is my favorite "Beatle song".
I can understand that, I feel the same. "Piggy" is my fave, but I love everything. In '96 I made up a tape of Rutles and gave it to someone who was just getting into the Beatles, I didn't tell him for ages, but he wasnt to pleased when I did. The point being the Rutles were so good, it's easy to fool people 👦👍🎶🎶
The Rutles are what The Beatles could have been if they had only had a lower production budget, less talent, no ambition and tighter trousers.
A brilliant, kind and gentle man.
R.I.P. Neil aka Ron Nasty
RIP Neil Innes. Genius !
All you need is cash is awesome!
John Lennon liked it so much he refused to return the VHS video back !
I bet John loved "Piggy in the middle" 😀👍🎶
@@garytwitchett9359 John learned how to do Cheese and Onions and played it for the SNL cast at a party,
I was Totally Fascinated by this video. I was deeply shocked and saddened at the end of the video to learn that
this TALENTED man had passed away. He wrote and arrange most of the funny songs you hear in Python Films.
RIP Mr. Innes.
You brought me so many laughs, Thank You and MGBY Neil Innes! ❤
'Can't Buy Me Lunch' is my fav of theirs.
"I must be in love" would pass for a genuine Beatles track.🎸
You sir was a FANTASTIC musician and in my humble opinion, was the secret 6th Monty Python! - RIP Neil ❤❤❤❤
I grew up with Niel Innes song about the raggy dolls, after that, I found the Rutles :D
Brilliant.
Great guy. Sadly missed.
Neil turned out to be an amazing songwriter.
Oh, watching this is how I've just learned of his death.
Amazing songs
Neil Innis, u rock!
His songwriting is so underated sheer genius rip neil.
A brilliant movie!
This man is a genius
Neil = Genius.
Genius
Sgt Rutter - a millstone in pop music history!
Doubleback Alley and Let's Be Natural are Beatles standard and astonishingly good.
Brilliant stuff, some of the tracks ARE better than the Beatle versions. "Get up and Go" and "Love life" to name but two
and more original ... Cheese and Onions
plus "Another Day"!
My favs are Ouch! , it’s looking good & Doubleback Alley. & Love Life of course.
Goose Step Mama was what Some Other guy and I Saw Her Standing There could have been if they were parodies.
I must be in loov.
Honestly - what would the Beatles be without the Rutles?
Parodying the Beatles forced Neil to write songs with structure - intros, verses, choruses, bridges, etc... Thus he wrote the best songs of his career, by parodying the best pop writers in history.
As opposed to Tubas in the Moonlight? (Fantastic song he wrote for the Bonzos)
He was writing great songs for years before
where can we watch this full movie?
Sadly nowhere at the moment. This is part of a documentary about Beatle tribute bands and apparently the rights to Beatle music are rather high. So if you have a few spare million, or Sir Paul or Lady Yoko's phone number then we're good. Thanks for watching.
@@nuttycombe Yes, I've seen several beetles documentaries that contain no music. You may have to limit the music to just 10 seconds each clip.
@@bradwaddell2274 Yes, it's rather frustrating. But thanks for the encouragement. Still trying to get the thing done.
Second only to ray Davies ….
