Thank you for using the best camera angles and videography editing. I also appreciated just watching the process without the symotanously step by step verbal distraction .
Excellent video; very helpful. One tip if I can add. Reattach the ground wires before installing the ignition coils otherwise it is hard to put the small nuts in. Put a rag in the spark plug cavity to prevent the nut from falling into it. Also, when removing the cover bolts, stuff a rag between the engine and the body to prevent bolts or washers from falling down.
This is just the video I needed. I bought a 2002 530i that was disassembled for a wiring harness replacement. This video helped so much putting it back together showing where everything goes. Thank you!
Thanks for showing the bolts! I almost bought 15 of the same one before realizing it is 11 of the same on the edge and 4 different ones in the center. Most videos skip over that part despite non-stop talking.
Thank you for making such a great and clear video! I've watched a few others and there is so much subjective sidetalk I cannot concentrate. Yours is much better with some great camera shots. I just got done doing this in my garage, and everything went exactly you showed. I took a nice long test drive and no more leaks!
Great video. My old gasket was so brittle it was stuck in, got it out using a heat gun. Also be careful for those air lines you take out below the spark plugs, those can be extremely brittle.
I just replace the valve cover gasket on my E46 went to turn it on was idling fine for a minute and all of a sudden it started to have a rough idle and check engine light turned on I have codes p0313,p0174,p0102,p0171 what could it be ? The car runs and drives decent but I do notice it chokes a bit when I press the throttle..... oh and my car was running perfectly fine before doing the valve cover gasket what could it possibly be ? Maybe I broke a ccv hose I replaced the vacuum line that goes to the secondary air pump but it still has a check engine light .... I also noticed when I went to drive the car i noticed a hissing noise almost like a vacuum leak that wasn’t there before also to mention when disconnecting the ccv hose it sounded so brittle and made a cracking noise as I slightly pulled it back
@@mica_papagajka yah it was 100% vacuum leak I had broke the ccv/breather hose that connects to valve cover that’s why I had issues it’s all fixed now … you need a smoke machine to find the leaks or just get smoke into the system to find all the leaks. Lol this car taught me how to diagnose other Bmw and get side jobs from all the learning lmao
@@eastsideofthetracks8311 im preparing to do my valve cover but i also have very brittle ccv hoses so im worried the same might happen to me. At least i have already bought a new ccv but still, the valve cover job is going to turn into a full day of removing the intake manifold if the ccv hose breaks🤣 Yeah man these bimmers really make you learn something, at least you have a nice side hustle now🥲
Great tutorial! I did this yesterday! I may attempt the oil filter housing gasket as I know you have a vid on this too, how difficult is it? @msbrunell
If you have the e39, then dealing with the fan shroud is a lot different than for the e46 (which most videos are based on). For the e39, follow the video I made and it should be OK. Consider getting someone to help you when putting the fan back on. Otherwise, all of the engine stuff (nuts and bolts) is very straightforward. Have fun!
Excellent. Thank you very much for the video and more creativity. Clean service and very accurate and perfect photography. Thank you K B K B قبل 5 أشهر Great tutorial! I did this yesterday! Brilliant video - great camera work!
this deserves more views.

Yes you are right...they are very brittle. Of course so are many of the engine parts, like intake boots.
Thanks for the video... Awesome... A not talking guy doing things right.
Fantastic video man! Super helpful
Very good manual. Many thanks.
Excellent, super-helpful video. Thanks so much!
Perfect tutorial man! Thank you very much!
is it pretty much the same with
m54b22 ?
Do cover seal washers have to be replaced in all cases? Thanks very much for this video. It is thorough and to the point
I would think that if the washers are flexible and soft, you could reuse them. But mine were brittle and hard.

Did you find what it was? Im seeing your comment 2 years too late but im guessing vacuum leak, p0171 and 74 are almost always vacuum leak codes

Great video. Any issue with using brake cleaner on the plastic valve cover though?
None. You could use some water-based degreaser instead.
Thank you 🙏🏼
How many hours to remove and replace?
Give it half a day
Excellent, concise video. thanks
Cuanto de torque
Golden. Thank you !
Where can I find torque specs and sequence for the 2002 e39 525i??
Select CC, which will show the info.
Why no seal gasket?
None needed
good job very helpful thank you very much
Job well done

@@msbrunell yes it's the same as yours e39 530i m54, okay thanks I'll give it a go I think! 😁👍🏼
Unless you need to, I wouldn't open the cooling system...it will make the day a lot longer.
